davidhoude
Done, try the new installer with 5.1, you´ll see 3 line outs, choose only the first one, and test it. I am also getting a kernel panic with AppleHDA. I am unable to remove the kext post-update, I get an error. I am also unable to run UInstaller post-update, it wont start. If I run it prior to the update, and then hit "Install" after my 10.5.7 update I get an AppleScript error. I was able to boot into 10.5.7 by Boot123, into Retail Disk, and then Utilities->Terminal and moving /System/Library/Extensions/AppleHDA.kext to somewhere else/deleting it. Jimmy Mallmann
use the p5k-se_10.5.7.pkg give it a try, it should downgrade the aplehda.kext if you have a kernel panic, use the boot123 (p5kfamily) CD to boot the sistem, with -s option at boot then manualy remove applehda.kext from /System/Library/Extentions/ I am also unable to run UInstaller post-update
IGonza
Hi Jimmy, I did upgrade to 10.5.7 , then run your new p5k-se_10.5.7.pkg and after reboot got kernal panic. I could run it in safe mode and rename AppleHDA.kext... now I can load the system but sure .. without a sound. Do you need any logs? Thanks, Igor. ok.. after few reinstalls and reboots everything's working fine now. The question is : how that 5.1 should work? seems only 1 out line works for me. Thanks, Igor. pierunstwo
No Firewire on PK5 WS - HELP PLEASE! Hi there, first of all thanks very very much for this fabulous guide. It convinced me of osx86 in the first place, and now I got a very nice system up and running. The System Facts are: - Asus PK5 WS - Intel Quad q9550 - 4GB Corsair - Sapphire HD 3870 Ultimate - 640GB Samsung HD NOW, as I am working with Audio mainly, I really urgently need Firewire to work on the Motherboard. But in System Preferences it shows, no Firewire Ports detected. When I plug my Audiointerface into the Firewire port it gets power, but doesnt get recognized. Does anyone had similar problems and knows a solution??? I am really desperate and would be grateful for a hint. All the best, Paul

pierunstwo
Hej Jimmi, I´m not sure how to get the vendor id information / LSPCI output. Could you give me a hint how to gather that information? I also just bought a simple PCI Firewire Controller Card with VIA Chipset, but doesnt work either. I am one step further already, as it recognizes the internal Firewire Ports now in System Preferences, but when I plug any Firewire device to it, nothing happens. Well. Thanks already for you help and time! Paul Hi, try the vodoo ps2 controller.First, what is the firewire controller you have, get the LSPCI output and try to get the vendor id. Oh, but just found in my Asus manual, saying: VIA VT6308S controller , as name of the IEEE 1394a controller, hope that helps. All the best and thanks again. pierunstwo
Hej Jimmy, I found out about LSPCI, in osx86 tools of course, hehe. Well, i bought a Firewire PCI Controller Card as I wrote before. It gets recognized in the System Preferences, saying FireWire Bus: Maximum Speed: Up to 400 Mb/sec. I ran the LSPCI and out comes this: 09:00.0 FireWire (IEEE 1394) [0c00]: Texas Instruments TSB43AB23 IEEE-1394a-2000 Controller (PHY/Link) [104c:8024] But still, when I plug in my Apogee Duet Audiointerface, it doesnt seem to work. Would be very thankful about any input. All the best, Paul Hi, try the vodoo ps2 controller.First, what is the firewire controller you have, get the LSPCI output and try to get the vendor id.
