SiriusW
What is your hardware configuration? Yesterday, I replace the IDE HD with a SATA HD, then install once again. This time, there is no booting error anymore! VGA, Network works!! Now, the only little problem is, I cannot get the DVI port working. I tried the different values of the NVCAP DVI/DVI, DVI/VGA, VGA/DVI. The result is: DVI/DVI : both DVI port and VGA port shows nothing DVI/VGA : only the VGA port works. The DVI port goes black after the apple logo showing. VGA/DVI: The VGA port works. The DVI port shows only blue screen. My VGA card is XFX 9400GT 512M ram. Any idea? alvinacv
Updated! Sleep is working, check the new P5K-SE_10.5.6.pkg! Hi Jimmy, Is it possible for me to apply the contents of this .pkg file on my system so I can get sleep working? I'm currently using the 10.5 version (upgraded to 10.5.6 through software updates). I'm asking this since I would like not reinstall everything from scratch again. If so, what else do I need to do? Robin40
Hey Jimmy, First of all thanks for your manual. I tried to install the retail leopard but i have a problem with booting. When i swap the boot 123 disc and insert the retail disc and press enter, I get a fast message that say something with mutiplier and: if system reboots, RDMSR 198H causes a fault. Then my pc restart. my specs are: Asus P5K Intel Q6600 Nvidia 9600GSO 2GB GEIL ram I hope you can help me. Greetz, Robin
Jimmy Mallmann
Probably it has something to do with the retail DVD, try booting with other instalation DVD, if it boots than you have your answer, get another 10.5.6 retail dvd image and burn it again. I'm planing to build a cheap config with a second hand P5K-SE and wondering if one of you managed to flash the Bios with P5KR's to enable AHCI... this trick works for P5K motherboards but I'm not sure it does with P5K-SE http://forums.mydigitallife.info/showthread.php?t=2027 Thx

Onion_Skin
Hi Jimmy, Thanks you so much for your post. Your driver set help me a lot! The only problem was I happen to have an 250G IDE hard disk. After installation, everything seemed OK except that kernel panic occurred sporadically. I seriously doubt they were caused by AppleVIAATA.kext because many people reported similar issue when using >= 4GB memory. (You won't have this issue if you don't use IDE hard disk or DVD drive. ) Later on i found this thread http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=127611 and replaced your AppleVIAATA.kext with the one in this thread. TADA! No more kernel panic, and the Hard Disk performance is also improved! Hope it's helpful to anyone who use Marvell IDE with >= 4GB memory. IGonza
Thanks for your answer Jimmy... I have a few kext files for ps2 controller.. but the problem is I cannot upload/change it to mac osx.. 1. if I run it from hdd I get 'no keyboard bla-bla..' 2. if I start another package like kalyway or similar I open terminal but do not see my usb flash.. So the only solution I see is to get usb keyboard and try to load OSX from HDD and change/add neccessary kext for ps2 keyboard and then back to it. I will try it today... Thanks, Igor. Jimmy Mallmann
Did you use the Boot123 CD? try using the one you used for the instalation, or try getting another one, the easy way would get or borrow an usb keyboard. Yes, I saw it happening before (with non compatible memory). I use it sometimes to fix IDE Hard Drives. Hi Jimmy,.... Hi, yes your configuration is good to go... Vanilla system is the one without too many modifications, and in my experience, it should be faster the the ones you get with patched dvds... IGonza
Ok, I used the easiest way and got usb keyword, changed/added some kext so now my ps2 keyword and usb mouse work fine.. My question is : when I run UNIVERSAL OSx86 INSTALLER it asked for video card ... I have geforce 9600GT 512 mb, but there is not that card in the list.. what card had I choose? (I used 8800GT 512 mb) Thanks, Igor.
Jimmy Mallmann
Hi, well, choose the "Custom Nvidia" option, then when you click apply, it will ask for the name of your VGA, then choose the amount of memory, then the Video outputs. It should work just fine. Ok, I used the easiest way and got usb keyword, changed/added some kext so now my ps2 keyword and usb mouse work fine..
