The only issue I'm having is with my Keyspan remote. Then again, it looks like they wrote their app in 1997... (okay, fine, I'll give them 2002). In any case, I installed it and programed it. Yet nothing seems to make it work. Maybe a restart. If I get it working I'll be happy to use Front Row from my bed :D If not, I'll still be able to sleep at night.

I had to "Scan image for restore" before I could off it to an external FW Drive...does that sound right? I just didn't hear anyone else mention that step, and I've never had that pop up before. I want to restore the dmg, not the "DVD" volume that it mounts right?

.....and dlbogdan, sorry you feel you must scream, but If you read this thread, there are plenty of posts about how to install this. Burning it right to a DVD is not the right way, that's where you went wrong, to answer your question.

P.S. My menubar transparency issue was video card related, because when I dropped down from the full 2560x1600 to anything lower, the menubar looked great. Just a dual link/30" cinema display twitch I guess among other video annoyances that pleasure brings with it.

for the FOURTH time....

I BURNED THE DVD IMAGE (DL DVD+R), booted from it, got the crossed circle and spinning wheel forever...

Maybe the problem is that it's actually not a DVD image.

He made a copy of the disk he restored it on.

Works fine here, just did Archive&Install. (I restored it to a USB disk)

Actually, i got he same problem as him back then.. cos i burnt the image in leopard... seems like 9a528d cannot be trusted to burn images (i modified mine to fit in a DVD btw)... I burnt the 9a559 and it got the same cancel sign, and when i checked the verbose output, it was saying something about waiting for root device....

Anyway, i recommend burning the disc in tiger, but while u're at it, try restoring that image to another image and burn that restored image....

Finally got some time to play around with this new build, and I've gotta say, I'm more excited than ever for the final release. It just -feels- so much more modern than Tiger. I honestly don't mind the remaining Aqua elements, I think they're fine.

I had the same problem in 9a528d, but then I remembered that good ol' SuperDuper! does a dmg restore and went with that. It worked perfectly, and you can use the disk image restore in it's free mode.

Wow, I'm really impressed with Leopard.

How many of you all are using it as your primary OS?

Would it be foolish to archive & install over Tiger?

I did an archive & install over tiger. It's... awesome. Although I manually brought over my photos, music, documents, previous apps, ect. I wanted a fresh start :)

All of the complaints people have had looking at screenshots, including my own fears, are gone. I thought the drop shadows were huge yet I don't notice them. I always know which window is in front without thinking about it. It's all the tiny elements that help that (drop shadow, translucent menu bar).

It's the most refined Mac OS to date. Everything seems effected and unified, nothing is left forgotten.

Awesome, I think i'll do the same and then update it when the final version is released.

A fresh start will feel nice.

Please, please, please, I need to know if CS3 (Illustrator, InDesign and Photoshop) work with this build. I saw comments about not working, comments about working after re-installing and not working at all again.

Could somebody please CONFIRM that those CS3 applications work with with 559?

Thank you very much!

Yes. Works like a charm. If InDesign gives you grief, you can just remove the components and reinstall. No big deal.

So I am thinking I would install this on my old 10 GB iPod but when I do a search I find warnings that the iPod might overheat. Do you guys think that is really that much of a concern?

Also is it true that the new disk utility in Leopard install allows you to partition drives without first erasing them? I would love to install this on my external drive but I don't want it to erase all of the stuff I have on the drive.

Thanks for all your help. I am new to betas!

I am having problems with .mac. I tried to sync bookmarks, calendars, address book and mail accounts. The last thing was the only one to sync OK. The rest I just got nothing. I don't know what to do. I tried to go to Advanced and restore the info in the computer using the data from .Mac but it doesn't work.

Suggestions?

For me, everything synced fine except for iCal. Then I tried to manually move my old calenders and that didn't work. They must be using a completely new back-end for the calender service.

How can I move contacts from another computer? What file should I move and where should I copy it?

Thanks!

~/Library/Application Support/AddressBook/

I'm pretty sure if you move that folder into the same place in Leopard, all your contacts will be moved. Not that it's dangerous, but I've never done it I'm just assuming logically.

Migration Assistant might work as well...

RapidWeaver doesn't seem to be working tho...

It hangs right before publishing. I'll send an e-mail to the developer to ask if he knows about it.

Yeah. .Mac sync isn't working for me either :/

Hi all, I`m also running Leopard as my main OS now... it seems that FileMakerServer9 doesn´t work (it won´t start up) and also JPT (Jons Phone Tool) - I assume that mostly those programs have problems that are working more "inside" of an OS. The others are OK.

iCal seem to have a different management structure - you can´t just throw your folder into -Library/ApplicationSupport .... I did a savety backup of iCal in Tiger and imported that file - works great.

Ok.. i managed to install Leopard last night but not with the DVD i just burned (and buried), but with restoring the dmg image to a compact flash (usb 2.0 reader). The installation went smoothly (under 7 minutes) on my mac mini and now it's working like a charm.

Now... is there any way to transform the .dmg into something burnable and INSTALLABLE (i.e. it's Mac OS X DVD Installation Disk not Mac OS X CF Installation Disk :))
