frantick
Works for me; thanks go out to all the OSx86 developers. I selected AMD SSE3, Titan Nvidia, Nforce SATA, but installed to IDE drive. My NTFS SATA drives show up and I can read from them, but haven't used this feature extensively as I probably won't do much usage between systems. I probably selected some other options in the install that I don't quite remember, and most of the software. My on-board AC97 never worked, but I couldn't get it working in XP either. I have an m-audio Revolution 7.1 for XP that doesn't work with OSX, so I bought the E-mu USB 0404 for both midi/audio and it works great in both. The Jas 10.4.8 was zippy and really stable, this version appears to be right on that level so far, at least for my config. lennyb
lennyb: how did you burn the dvd? Did you rename the .cdr file to .iso before burning? I can´t get to install the OS at all with the dvd I burned. Only installs all patches and all looks fine. But no OS to boot when starting computer. I burned the DVD properly and the MD5 matches. I'm not a programmer, but my hunch is that the problems I'm having are due to a mismatching of the kexts in the distribution with the kernels. What I probably need is for someone who installed 10.4.9 successfully on a Dell laptop by applying the Delta update and manually updating the kernel to post a screenshot of the System Profiler screen that shows all the extensions and the version numbers. And say which kernel they used. Then I could compare the extensions with what's listed on the Uphuck DVD to see whether the version numbers for the Kexts match. JSR
DONE! Iso burned (renaming cdr to iso) and installed. Seems to work correctly! I have only one problem at the moment: My PCIe Ati Gigabyte X1600 Pro is recognized; i can change resolution BUT Core Image and Quartz Extreme are "Not Supported" I'm using Natit x1600 (ATI1X00 doesn't work for me) Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/53319-official-uphuck-1049-universal-x86-install-dvd-v13-thread/page/5/#findComment-382188 Share on other sites
bushmills
First of all, thx to uphuck. So i dl'ed v1.3 and installed it on my AMD 3000+/Asrock Dual Sata, 300Gb PATA-HDD with an 70 Gb 10.4.8 tubgirl installation. The Disk Util shows my 300 Gb as 128 Gb and killed my 170Gb, NTFS Partion, wich is my 4. Partition on this HDD, every time i installed this release. My install-option always: universal kernel 3/titan/intel pro After the 1st: it stopped at 5242 buffers ... -acpi 10.4.8 patch switched on after 2nd: it stopped at Login Window Application started -login window 10.4.4 patch switched on after 3rd: it stopped add mDNSResponder: Adding browse domain local -maybe the intel-driver is not working? So finally, it was also not working with deselecting the intel-driver or all the other options. uni.k.3 + viaata were the only i selected, but nothing, it stopped at the same: adding browse local domain. So now i think i will wait for someone who have a trick to get this running on AMD64-System. I go back to 10.4.8 tubgirl. phear86
I can't seem to boot the installed OS too. I tried different customization options but upon the completion of the installation and reboot, the screen just stayed at blank with a white underscore flashing on the top left corner. It's a DELL D620 (C2D) laptop, I've even tried *only* installing the base system will the kernel (tried both SSE3 and Universal), no luck. Anyone have any ideas? Well i think i might have a fix to this. It seems that it won't execute it's boot commands at all. I will attempt to install grub bootloader and execute the boot commands from there. I am working right now (@ Apple Store!), so when i get home, i will try, and post results. uphuck
well, 945gm + t2300 is one of the most compatible hardware and also my laptop has that chipset and cpu, you are doing something wrong on selections of packages and before that check md5 of image.. for amd, loginwindow is working as well on my amd64 3000 sse2 + msi platinum sli + 6600gt testing system, maybe it's about vga driver problem, try to install it without any vga drivers. R0GUE
I installed using the AMD 10.4.9 option with the Universal 3 Kernel, and everything works fine. The only thing I had to do was replace the AC'97 kext with my own, repair the character palette and voila! every thing's working as it should. Thanks again uphuck. uphuck
thanks R0GUE hi everyone, it can take for a few tries to find out the right packages for your hardware, please read the descriptions as well.. some problems are well known osx86 and newbie problems like nvidia 8xxx series, com.apple.Boot.plist errors.. I put a lot of updated and old stable drivers especially for vga cards. Before selecting any driver or drivers, please make a google search for the suitable driver for your hardware.. thank you for feedbacks.. parachute
1- To those who's in trouble with 5242 buffers error' you need the 10.4.8 ACPIPlatform.kext patch. 2- I can't get my 5200 AGP nvidia CI QE enabled and can't get onboard ethernet working on nforce 250 mobo. I will try natit instead of titan and see if I can get 5200 CI QE to work. Forcedeth is installed by default on my config. In fact it works but I thought it shouldn@t when I saw the network card was named something like "pci etc". I tried all of the drivers for my nvidia 5200 but all failed' with or without agpgart. Now installing again. I haven't selected any driver this time. Edit: Nope. No luck with getting CI QE by installation. Will try to install a driver by myself. Edit-2: I can't find any drivers and don't know how. Here they are talking about a 5200 dmg: http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?sho...hl=5200++qi++ce Where can I get this? Please help me out. Thanks in advance. If I get my 5200 to work properly, I will use this release instead of Jas 10.4.8. 3- Greetings to u-p-h-u-c-k from Istanbul, Turkey: UFUK! Iyi is dostum. Diehardjr
100%, but when I got home today, I find my nephew deciding he was going to use my last DVDs to attempt to burn Lords of Dog town. Are you referring to a patch other than the one that's present on the DVD? Choosing that doesn't stop the problem for me: (Inspiron 8600, Intel 855PM/ICH4, Dothan Pentium M 1.7) It is (again!) possible to boot the OS by starting from the DVD and entering rd=disk(x)s(y) on the command line. yoursagentsmith
Compliments to Uphuck!! It works at first try on my signature machine. I had NOT touched any bios setting or Sata ports arrangement. It installed on my IDE DVD burner with this known 965 mobo which uses Jmicron chip Only a problem: LAN doesn't work. However inside AppleYukon.kext is reported the Yukon Gigabit Adapter 88E8053. Should the device id be changed? Installed Marvell 8053 driver from Gigabyte DS3 driver package, but with no luck. Where can I find that missing extension? Also, how to change keyboard layout? It behaviors like a Mac keyboard, with number and symbols upside down and QZERTY keys. When I used Jas Iso some time ago I remember there was something at setup stage to match PC-style keyboards.... decorin
Hello this is my 1st post but I have been lurking for awhile. First off, I would like to thank UPHUCK for all of the effort put into this distribution. This is my 1st attempt at installing v1.3 with the hopes of resolving some of the issues I had with v1.2. My install= 10.4.9 AMD with AMD SSE3 kernel with Apple ACPIP patxch and CPU pwr mgt removal patch. I installed ATI Natit x1600 driver, NForc SATA driver and Realtek R1000 driver. I installed onto a ~50gb partition on my PATA disk. My Observations so far: I can only get video through my VGA not DVI but at full 1280x1024 resolution Sound works an I can play MP3s I can't play any of my mpeg or avi file which are mostly DIVX encoded I can access all of my SATA partitions (all ntfs). I can read but haven't tried writing. Should I worry about possible HD corruption? The PC will go to sleep but not wake up My primary concern is the lack of DVI support since I like to watch video files and would also like to do some video editing in a MAC environment. So does anyone know of a way to get the DVI going that would be great. Thanks Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/53319-official-uphuck-1049-universal-x86-install-dvd-v13-thread/page/5/#findComment-382736 Share on other sites
