Perhaps ill-advised, but "I do it so you don't have to!™," when OC 0.6.1 went up final this morning along with (deep breath)

  • AirportBrcmFixup.kext 2.0.9,
  • AppleALC.kext 1.5.2;
  • VirtualSMC.kext, SMCProcessor.kext & SMCSuperIO.kext 1.1.6;
  • Lilu.kext 1.4.7 &
  • WhateverGreen.kext 1.4.2,

I downloaded the lot & moved over the new (again, deep breath)

  • BOOTx64.efi,
  • Bootstrap.efi,
  • AudioDxe.efi,
  • OpenCanopy.efi,
  • OpenRuntime.efi,
  • (All of the above Kexts),
  • OpenCore.efi &
  • The whole Tools folder, all twelve of whose files had the same names & rough sizes as the ones they replaced, and

Started it up (with my current 10.15.6 19G2021 setup)!  No changes whatsoever to config.plist.  The only difference I notice while booting under -v is a couple of (-)chunklist boot args that don't show up under Hackintool's NVRAM tab.  But it boots & even though there seem to be DRM changes to get ready for BS, iTunes & YouTube still work, as does iMessage.  No other changes in operation noted so far.

As in the beginning of this, I recommend waiting until @AudioGod & @texem have really gone through it & put out their own EFI; they may know things we don't about the prep for BS (love that acronym! :hysterical:) & what affect, good or bad, those (-)chunklist boot args may have.  I look forward to the new EFI as well, will likely switch to that from the one I just Frankensteined.  But having been adventurous, so good for me, so far (knock on case)!

Check unlock by using Hackintool. Click on Utilities tab, then at bottom left, click on AppleIntelInfo. When finished look for:

MSR_PMG_CST_CONFIG_CONTROL........(0xE2) : 0x7E000008
------------------------------------------
 - I/O MWAIT Redirection Enable......... : 0 (not enabled)
 - CFG Lock............................. : 0 (MSR not locked)

Resetting NVRAM is always helpful. You may have to pull battery and let your mobo completely reset. I think instructions are in first post.

And, oof, don’t use OpenCore Configurator. Use something like PListEditPro or ProperTree.

I'm reasonably confident I'm unlocked (on UEFI firmware 12c, cuz I have the WiFi board), but can't get this to work, to verify. When I follow those directions, there's no output displayed in the window, or file written (that I can find), with such info. I hazarded a guess that "Enable HWP" might enable some output to view (again hazarding that "HWP" stood for "Hardware Profile"), but there was no change.

I'm using OpenCore 0.6.1, which from 0.5.9 on through has likewise never shown any logs under the tab of the same name under sub-tabs for "Boot," "Lilu," or "System;" but has at least shown a "Boot" one under Clover.  Dunno if those are related, but on the supposition they may be, I share it.

I don’t think it matters what OC you are on.

Oh, I didn't think it did. I just wonder whether anyone has insight into why clicking "Get AppleIntelInfo*" under the Utilities tab of Hackintool does not seem to be generating any output for me. Is there some setting I'm missing?

*(and entering the Admin password, and waiting for the "Logging CStates/Perform CPU intensive activity" progress bar)

First up. I can't say thank you enough. Open Core install has worked very well.

Also if this question has been replied, please share the link. I've sifted through the comments but couldn't find anything. maybe I'm blind!

Issue: the keyboard will sometimes stop responding. Quickfire TK/cm storm.
Backlight on but no ones home.
Mouse still responding fine. Disconnecting and reconnecting the keyboard makes it work again.

Both Mouse and keyboard plugged into the top row of USBs - USB2 ports.
I have only left the two aml files in EFI folder on boot volume.

Do you think this is the case.?

/Volumes/EFI/EFI/OC/ACPI/SSDT-PLUG.aml
/Volumes/EFI/EFI/OC/ACPI/SSDT-PM.aml
contents of my EFI volume: https://github.com/mbonne/gigabyte-z390-aorus-pro-hackintosh-opencore/blob/master/OC.md

Should I be using another aml? for correct mapping of the USB ports on z390 Aorus Pro (non-wifi)
Bios F11

Apart from that, very happy with how easy it was for my 2nd Hackintosh build. Your main build EFI folder was a straight in place drop, with a couple modifications from your guide and bingo.

:happymac:

You were lucky @juan e. jot, I tried my hand at updating OC and got Security Violations:

OCSB: No suitable signature - Security Violatyion

OCB: Apple Secure Boot prohibits this boot entry, enforcing!

OCB: LoadImage failed - Securty Violation

Whoa, @pkdesign! Bummer. Hopefully you had a previous-version, known-good EFI on a USB from which you could recover. Dunno why that would be the case, from SIP enablement on through FileVault (which I’ve never dabbled in). Hopefully once you get it back to working, if you want to keep investigating till there’s a new EFI posted here, Dortania has a good pointer or two which are applicable to your situation.

Any one now how to get into recovery mode from open core?

On the boot picker press space and the option will show up.

Got OC 061 to work! After you add and update the new items needed in your config, be sure to set Misc/Security/SecureBootModel to "Disabled" not "Default."

This is based on the SMBIOS you have your machine set, i.e 19,1 for me. See page 45 of Configuration.pdf for other models. It looks like iMacPro1,1 is okay as "Default"

Hi all,

I'm after a bit of assistance if possible regarding bluetooth. It's actually an issue in Windows but I'm unsure where to get the support seeing as its a hack, I'm using SMBIOS iMacPro1,1 and @AudioGod EFI without any modification other than what is required.

Apologies now if its a long one, and please direct me to a better section of the forums if you can to avoid spamming this guide!

Hardware:

Aorus Pro Wifi

BCM94360CS2 with PCie adapter  ( I also have a bcm94360CS to test later if needed once adapter arrives)

Magic Mouse and Keyboard

Sony WH-1000X M3 headphones

So I replaced my Fenvi  FV-T919 a couple of days ago with the BCM card due to having pretty poor wifi in both Mac OS and windows although Bluetooth worked fine on the fenvi for me.(at least it appeared to to the untrained)

I deleted the contacts of /Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration and reset NVRAM twice when installing the new card.

Wifi has improved with the swap out, signal strength is similar but I max out on speed tests consistently now without the speeds being sporadic, no issues here at all.

Bluetooth.

So I have a combination or should I say differing issue depending on my configuration/settings.

Using the BCM card alone works fine in Mac OS but in windows my headphones are useless, sound stuttering constantly less than a second between each stutter, I would also have huge issues trying to connect to the headphones full stop, removing and re-pairing, restating etc etc, just a horrific experience, firmware is up to date on the headphones, and I'm using the latest drivers from bootcamp, my last attempts I simply couldn't get them to connect at all. Mouse and keyboard function in both Windows and Mac OS but I'm having to use magic utilities to enable mouse scrolling and Function buttons within windows (fn buttons work when plugged into USB)

https://magicutilities.net

Current configuration is having the BCM card disabled in Windows, and using the Intel one leaving it enabled in bios.

No issues in MacOS (to the untrained) headphones now work flawlessly in windows too.

After booting from mac back to windows I am now having to force reload the drivers or remove and repair the mouse and keyboard, I guess this is due to them being paired to the BCM card and now I want them to pair to the intel card, they do actually function, but the magic utilities software does not detect them - no scrolling again or fn buttons. If I restart windows without forcing the drivers/software to re-detect the mouse and keyboard everything works in POST or Bios, but if I've reloaded the drivers (in order for magic utilities to detect the hardware again) then the devices don't work and I can't select which OS to boot from unless I use the USB on the keyboard.

Sorry if this is hard to follow, I'm trying to explain it so it makes sense but it may well not..

So my ideal solution would be to fix the issue with my headphones not working with the BCM as its clearly a software thing and remove the need for using magic utilities or the Intel card, I did a registry edit previously to reverse the mouse scrolling when I did have scrolling working at all in windows without the added software but if I recall it didn't stick after a reboot or caused some other issue, I can't remember but in any case the fn buttons never worked.

Alternative solution is to use the Intel in Windows as I am now, but again remove the need for the added software as its causing issues when I restart with no bluetooth at post.

I'm happy to try registry edits if needed or other windows drivers, I'm sure others are using the same BCM card without these problems.

Thanks

*Edit

I'm now using the bcm94360CS with just 2 of the 3 antennas connected, Bluetooth headphones detected in windows this time and working (slight drop out every minute or so perhaps due to 3rd antenna missing) I'll try again now with the magicutilities software to see if that works too.

rob1980-I think this would be better served as its own forum post. It doesn’t seem specific to, or perhaps related to, the AORUS PRO/PRO WIFI specifically. You will probably get better response from a wider audience.

I think at this point no one should be relying on @AudioGod to provide EFI's for our systems. He provided us with an excellent base with basic correct configurations, kexts, SSDTs, and mobo settings, and I for one will always be grateful for that. If you are hackintoshing, you should have some basic level of experience with editing config lists and adding kexts, etc. Every system will be different and you will have to tweak these for your system anyway. For instance, I have a PCI card with my WiFi that has to have specific kexts and configs that are not in AudioGod's EFI.

I also always keep my kexts up to date with Hackintool. I consider this to be an indispensable app. It can do and show you so much.

Not sure about Clover at this point, but with OpenCore (OC), you just need to see what additions or changes have happened since the last version and match that to what you have currently. OC always provides a "Differences.pdf" document and a sample config.plist. OC isn’t changing that dramatically between revisions at this point. They are just making tweaks and fixes for new OSes.

For example. In the update from 060 to 061, I compared my current config.plist with the sample provided with the release to see what changed. You can go line by line with text editor or plist editor like ProperTree, or PListEdit Pro; or with an app like Kaleidoscope or DeltaWalker. There is also an ocvalidate tool that comes with OC. I like to use the Sanity Checker at opencore.slowgeek.com. It quickly shows me what is missing or incorrect. Be aware though! Not everything it says is wrong or incorrect. For instance, it will say:

  • EnableWriteUnprotector = Yes but should normally be No

But that is not true for our specific board. Be smart about your choices and always have a back-up. But it is excellent at telling you what is missing.

Using Sanity Checker I could see the following were missing from my 060 config:

Security

ApECID = 0

DmgLoading = Signed

EnablePassword = No

ProtocolOverrides

AppleImg4Verification = No

AppleSecureBoot = No

So I used PListEdit Pro to add those to my config.

Now in my case once, once made these changes I couldn’t boot and got an error. I asked about that specific error on the OpenCore forum and almost immediately got a response that said I needed to change one setting that was already in my config which I reference in a few posts above that was: Misc/Security/SecureBootModel to "Disabled" not "Default. Again, that was based on my specific situation. So a generic EFI wouldn't have helped me.

Hopefully this will help my fellow AORUS PRO/PRO WiFi users in the future.

I suspect you’re right, I posted here first seeing as the hardware will match many people viewing this thread including the Bluetooth adaptor.

I think you will be happy with any one of these. I've got the i9-9900K and I have zero complaints. I got it to specifically match the specs of the iMac19,1, which is the SMBIOS I use. Clearly many people on the forum use the iMacPro1,1 SMBIOS as well. If you get the KF variant, I'm guessing that would match iMacPrpo1,1 spec but it doesn’t really matter.

The price difference (at least here in US) is minimal ($10 at B&H Photo).

I highly doubt the KS will matter unless you plan on really overclocking. But even with the K, you can overclock very confidential to a minimum of 5Ghz and probably higher.

Dear eSaf

Let me be clear. Hey, I asked if anyone was successful in running the Audiogod EFI with some modification in macOS Bir Sur 10.16. I haven't seen any reports so far on this topic.

Yes it works just fine with Big Sur but only OpenCore not Clover as of yet.

AudioGod, my god. Thank you for the reply. One more question: I believe that a clean installation is more recommended than simply an upgrade from Catalina? or would a simple upgrade work?

Thank you so much

Yes absolutely, do a time machine backup if you like and then clean install big sur and then restore your backup and your be golden.

Its also fine to just upgrade but not as clean but still perfectly fine to do :)
