I wonder what is going on with that can't install macOS screen, I barely ever saw it before and I've now heard or seen about it like a hundred times since 10.13.4. What happened that is causing this to happen?

Install went fine on 3 of my machines, however it took me a couple of tries on my Optiplex 755 because it would give me the "can't install macOS screen" on both DB7 as well as the release:

An error occurred while extracting files from the package “macOSUpd10.13.4.pkg”
NSFilePath=/Volumes/Macintosh SSD/.PKInstallSandboxManager-SystemSoftware/BE532251-D324-4E77-9369-CCE971E4D4F6.activeSandbox/Root
NSURL=macOSUpd10.13.4.pkg -- file:///Volumes/Macintosh%20SSD/Library/Updates/AtomicUpdates/091-76096/
PKInstallPackageIdentifier=com.apple.pkg.update.os.10.13.4.17E197a
NSUnderlyingError=0x7f9b2c399ab0 {Error Domain=PKXARArchiveErrorDomain Code=101 "archive verify failed"

It happened with updating through the App Store as well as doing a clean install.
I could update to 10.13.5 DB1 without problems though, so I don't know what the problem with 10.13.4 is/was.

I have a major issue with this UPD. Installation progress is smooth , no obvious problems but at first

boot into new 10.13.4 I have a flickering/garbling screen ( only use UHD630 ).

I'v searched the whole www but looks like I'm the only one having this problem.

Appreciate it if someone could have a look into my system dump and give me a hint what aim overseeing/doing wrong.

Thanks

I can't attach any files for unknown reasons, so pls use the link

Have you tried using Lilu+IntelGraphicsFixup?

Yes, I'm using latest builds since I started to get this rig working. Changed BIOS settings back & forth , various bootflags...

No luck so far

Ok and are you using the newest versions?

Yes I do.

Just found out when I just change SMBIOS from IMac18.3 to 18,1 all problems are gone !

For now I keep my main drive on 10.13.3 and backup drive on 10.13.4 and try to find what are the changes between them.

I have not much experience there though. Any idea ?

I have exactly the same problem.

I can not find a solution.

This makes sense, the iMac18,3 has a discrete Radeon Pro, where the iMac18,1 only has an Intel IP640. Probably closer to what was expected, I imagine that something in ACPI or ioreg is not properly setup.

My system (main in the signature) with 10.13.3 won't update to 10.3.4.

It downloads the update, goes to the black screen with the white Apple and the white bar starts. After a couple of seconds it reboots and I'm still on 10.3.3.

Because you did not boot into the installer. Check if the /macOS Install Data/ folder is present.
If so, upon boot there should be a new entry to update macOS. If not, update Clover.

I somehow stumbled to iMac18,1 by "accident". Didn't had much time since I set up my new hack , running it with native tables and just some basic patches all was fine except USB3 .

That was the 1st thing I got working ( credits to Rehabman for detailed info on various sites ).

I bought this mobo because of the 2 display options ( HDMI/DVI) because my PCI slots are busy with audio stuff and no place left for dedicated graphics. That was

all working great with my old Z68 board. I hope I get those ports going aswell on the Z370 without having to hot plug the 2nd monitor after booting like it is still now.

Think I have to take a deeper look into the Z68 DSDT and what I did there...

Thank you for your input/thoughts on this !

Solved: I used custom entries, so that's why there was no new entry at the reboot.

I reset the entries settings in config.plist, updated the os and at the reboot there was the installation entry.

You can add a hidden custom entry that matches all macOS installer type, then press F3 to unhide it when you need it. Also you probably did need to upgrade clover as there was an issue with the newest installers.

EDIT: Forgot some words.

I have already hidden a entry, it is the recovery one. I have to add the installer one!

Update went fine (Sort of) the Board-ID patch no longer works (Black Screen on both displays) but WhateverGreen 1.1.7 solves the issue.

I'm was using the following Board-ID patch with macOS 10.13.4 which no longer works in the 10.13.4 (17E202) version.

Kernel and Kext Patches:
Name: com.apple.driver.AppleGraphicsDevicePolicy
Find: BA050000 00
Replace: BA000000 00
Comment: Disable board-id check to prevent no signal © lvs1974, Pike R. Alpha, vit9696

Update:

I did a nvram reset along with a kext cache, prelinkedkernel clean up and everything seems to be working again.

The weird thing is that during the installation the black screen issue happened and I had to let the system reboot to complete the installation which resulted in the black screen.

Everything is back to normal after the clean up though!

Looks like some sort of problem with NVMe driver, you have patches? Maybe they need updated?

No, I don't use any patch or driver. As I know HS support NVME as a native which it is. But I got suddenly this kernel panic. I looked my ioreg don't see anything wrong. Here is my ioreg;
