Rammjet
My hard disk seems just go to sleep, and every app that try to get access hangs. Not a kernel issue. System Preferences -> Energy Saver -> UNCHECK Put Hard Disks to Sleep

marliwahoo
Have you configured anything in special? What version of Semthex's kernel are you using!? Nothing special. All the "new" kernels - both Semthex and mikifi - have worked with both cores.
semthex
Sometimes core issues happen because OSx unfreindly settings in your BIOS, maybe this is a palce to start.
Jagojon3
Will this work on 10.4.6? I have about a million issues with running 10.4.8 on my Dell laptop but I do have a stable 10.4.6 running right now and would love to enable both cores on my Core Duo. mspr
beta7 has some things to hibernate fixed but it is not working correctly yet. Hi Semthex, thank you very much for your work... Do you think that it's possible to fix the reboot problem I described with 10.4.8 ? Now I'm running AMD SSE3 DVD Test 1 with your kernel but my hackintosh doesn't reboot (stop and shutdown work fine) and I cannot edit the mach_kernel file (I did it with 10.4.7 and it works but now the kernel is different) If you want I will try to explain the problem in private Thank you Bye
Ezhoon
Hi, Semthex. I also have a reboot problem. Shutdown works fine but, reboot gives me just a black screen. I tried up to beta7 but the problem just won't go away. Installed 10.4.8 AMD_test 1 dvd on Athlon64 3000+ (socket 754) Biostar TF-6100 mobo (socket 754) Gigabyte x1600pro silentpipe II Please help us socket 754 users Thanks! firewolf
I think this was fixed long time ago. Just download the latest kernel from the irc channel.
mitro
Semthex, This is Grapher dump crash on AMD X2 on lastest kernel http://pastebin.ca/257573 [moderator's note: the pasted output was excessively long, and it is doubtful whether an application crash log belongs in this thread anyway]

Chevelle
Hmm, seems any kernel I try this is all I get. Its like it freezes right there.

semthex
Upgrading is possible but a bit difficult, get to the channel adn you will for sure find someone who can explain. Another way would be to consult the FAQ and try the setup setup for test system (basicly a upgrade)
asapreta
I forgot to mention, now 2 cores are shown on system profiler, but no improvement on performance noted or shown in Xbench.
semthex
so you at least see that both are working :-)
EtherealRemnant
you really arent going to get a real substantial increase on benchmark scores just by having both cores active in osx.
joe75
you really arent going to get a real substantial increase on benchmark scores just by having both cores active in osx. I just want to be able to have both cores, I could care less about stupid Apple benchmarks that I think are {censored} to begin with Still no 2cpu for Merom. semthex
Still no 2cpu for Merom. 2 Cores are NOT 2 cpu ... so cpu=2 will never work.
General_Cartman
Both cores work on my Merom, it's just in system profile that it shows up as 1. But activity monitor shows 2 cpus...
joe75
2 Cores are NOT 2 cpu ... so cpu=2 will never work. You can call it what ever you want, the fact is I still cant use both cores on my duel core processor. I don't know how it works for General_Cartman, but with beta7 it will crash or freeze for me. Edit: I can boot with both cores with -x and stay running but there is some stutter and I lose wireless internet and QE/CI.
