[pre-release] macOS High Sierra

That's why I use an old GTX 650 at home. No EmuVariableUEFI needed, no Nvidia driver needed.

With every day I'm more and more concerned about the next video card I'll have to buy when this one won't be supported anymore. I'm not a gamer, so I don't care about them teraflops. But I do care about being able to use that computer with minimum effort. :)) And for that, as we all know, you need supported hardware (or at least as close as you can get to that).

Today I learned something new. Thank you. :)

You're welcome :)

I'm glad that I had a role in solving your problem.

The easiest GPUs are AMD R9 270X and R9 280X which have full support without any extra efforts (On a single display setup) and no boot to black screen issue so far not even in macOS High Sierra, they work OOB and you can even run games on them if you one day feel like to (these GPUs are old of course) and with the new development of Lilu 1.1.6 and WhateverGreen.kext we have a great chance of using many AMD GPUs without working about the sleep/wake or black screen issue anymore so your options are quite a lot ;)

And last but not least AMD Vega has some promising future in Macs and Hacks.

Thank you very much for the suggestions. I was actually considering an RX 480 or 580 but...when I saw that you need a "helper card" to boot into the OS...I just gave up on the idea. I know about WhateverGreen (funny name, by the way, but one hell of a kext). So it might not be out of the question for me to try an AMD card in the future, especially since Apple doesn't seem too keen to go back to Nvidia anytime soon.

About Vega...I'm just gonna say this: $1000 where I live. So, as promising as it might be, I'll wait for the prices to go down...a lot. :))

Yeah Veag is out of question for now :D at least for me ;)

I successfully updated to DP7 now that I have resolved the problem with video not loading.  However, I cannot update from the App Store.  When my laptop restarts, it does not go into installation mode.  Rather, it simply reboots and never installs.  I am only able to update using the recovery partition and selecting install a new copy of OS.  The one downside to this is that it requires me to download the full 5 GB installer rather than just the update.  Still, it installs easily now.

One thing I noticed (of a very minor nature) is that it does not appear that the cosmetic fix for AirPort Extreme works any longer.  My system information reports that I have a third-party wireless card.  Anyone else experience that?

I followed your method, and it has worked for me too. I had tried every which way to install DP 7 and all of them failed. I had been successful in the past with them but not with DP 7.

I checked, and mine is reporting Airport Extreme. Did you have to install an older version of IO80211Family.kext?

For my part I find the Beta 7 very good, almost everything working fine for me

Close to the GM planned in September B)

Chris, how about Battery indicaton on menbar?

Still have issue?

I can.

I've tried to find out the FF & FFM from the previous build, firmware has this patterns, but with zeroes. Maybe you can find out.

I will look next day and check with research.

Did you try to install Biosversion 08/08/17 for macpro51 and no FF FFM PF on r4182?

This is normal.

Just battery icon suddenly disappear on menubar after reboot or normal boot.

Do you have exprience about battery icon issue before? Me and other user have this issue and also there is bug list in HS DP1. I checked it in macrumors high sierra thread.

If have FF FFM PF in config, remove them.

Put biosverson that you got from macpro51 firmware in Biosversion part in config. Then try with clover r4179 or newer if you can test or have a time.

Thanks in advance

I patched your DSDT to remove your discreet GPU (only Intel HD GPU will appear in System Info now).  This and the other things I suggested here              #2983             that I added to your config.plist should get your video to load.  That is your only problem that I can see at this point.

thank you for your willingness to help . but error is not gone. installation unable to continue.

Can you post your Clover boot.log so I can see if you implemented the changes correctly?  Also, you have several Clover DSDT patches even though you use a custom DSDT.  I didn't know why you used them so I didn't try to change them.  You might try to remove as much from your config.plist as possible and see if you can get your video to load.  The less you have, the easier it is to isolate the problem.

Hello everyone

I followed some guides and I can say its a total success!  :thumbsup_anim:  :thumbsup_anim:

I have a C612 ruing High Sierra DP6. with dual engineering sample processors E5-2690v4 and I just wanna know is there any different xnu power management scheme in my case ?

First, some back story: I'd since corrected any issues with power management, injected frequency vectors, corrected the SSDTs using information I got booted in linux and had all my frequencies correct. So I knew this wasn't anything to do with using an engineering sample.

My poor scores had a very strange behavior to them. My scores would be fairly high right after a restart, usually 3293 cb , but would quickly drop over minutes down to my low 2000 cb. If I immediately ran Geekbench a second time, I would usually get

At first I thought this was a heat issue and the CPUs were rapidly heating once OS X was loaded due to some issue in the power management. However, I verified that my cooling (which is very generous for 2x 135W) wasn't an issue. I did some stress tests in Linux while monitoring all core temperatures, and even with all cores at 3GHz for 10 minutes straight, I couldn't even hit 50°C on a single core. So my cooling certainly seemed adequate. and on windows10 I get around 4100 cb.

I was reading through some of Piker-Alpha's posts about xnu power management, and something caught my eye: he had a list of flags, from which only -xcpm was the only one given any attention. I searched I test this boot flag -xcpm_ipi and it worked perfectly under Mac OS Sierra but I am not sure what I suppose to do under Mac OS High Sierra.

- So I wanna know couple of thing is it my power mangenment looking good?
- How I can monitoring my cpus performance in dual cpus system because intel gadget monitoring app not working in my case?
- what I can acutily do to get the same reasult as in windows 10?

- My EFI folder  EFi.zip
