post-150922-1299772456_thumb.jpg I actually used my Lion VM and the myinstaller.cdr image created to build the VM to install Lion to a physical HDD, and am able to boot it using Chameleon and Netkas' boot with "-usecache". I'm using a i7 950 on a Gigabyte GA-X58A-UD3R Rev 2. and have networking, ALC889 audio, and a GeForce 9800 GTX with QE/CI working. Pulled out my GTX460 to try QE/CI.

**Edit: To clarify, I added a physical sata hdd to the VM, booted the myinstaller.cdr image again with the VM, and did a clean install to the physical hdd (as part of the VM). Then used Lion in the VM to install Chameleon etc to the physical hdd, before detaching it and booting it "standalone".

However, I don't see why it wouldn't be possible to use Lion's Disk Utility in the VM to restore the virtual hdd to an attached physical hdd.

Sometimes, yes :(

Mostly no, if i can get the right Timimg (press Cursor-Down on Booting, like described)

Just rebootet and had Luck, my System starts up fine..

Its just a Question of Timimg…

can we get Safari v5.1 from Lion DP to work on 10.6.x?

Do not do it! New Safari will not work, but the old you can not install, will post "Have you installed a newer version"

1) My wifi card doesn't get activated, even though the pci id is already in the Info.plist (working oob in snow leopard, chipset bcm 4320)

seems like Lion looks also for subsystem Id and vendor. A DSDT fix can do this.

any workaround to install 1.7 in MBR partitions? in 10.6 i edited 2 files in retail dvd to alow this , i dont know if 1.7 is the same...

GUID partition table is a pain and gives alot of problems whe something goes wrong or you have windows partitions in the same HDD

Is there a link for how to convert image to bootable partition? I googled and can't find info to try what you did, thanks johnm

See edit to my last post above, re adding a physical hdd to my Lion VM.

Thank you! I cannot seem to get the chameleon(w/netkas' boot) to do anything but df in my regular install. Maybe I'll have luck with your method. I'm surprised it's taking so long for the guru's to get chameleon working. Thanks again, johnm

I've been able to install kexts in Extra and create a linked kernel from there:

kextcache -K "/Volumes/BOOT_DRIVE/mach_kernel" -L \
-c "/Volumes/BOOT_DRIVE/System/Library/Caches/com.apple.kext.caches/Startup/kernelcache" \
"/Volumes/BOOT_DRIVE/Extra/Extensions" "/Volumes/BOOT_DRIVE/System/Library/Extensions"

However, it seems to only work in Lion. When building in SL, the kernelcache for Lion is significantly smaller - about 11MB, versus 19-20MB in Lion. The kextcache log is very different and when booting into Lion, it halts at certain places. Seems like we'll have to boot into Single-User mode to get one created, if needed.

Someone here has mentioned being able to delete the kernelcache and still boot. Haven't tried that, yet. Anyone else confirm?

I also agree the DF KP is timing related, or at least it sure seems like it.

Has anyone experienced a problem with Geekbench with either Lion or SL? I cannot get GB to work in Lion, brings up a {censored}load of errors in the console log; I did try and post the log but it took up 6 pages (page downs). Ever since I installed the Lion ATI drivers in SL (correctly), I get the exact same errors; for both GB and GB64.

On an unrelated note, last night while in Lion, I put the computer to sleep. When I woke it up today all seemed to go fine, however instead of going to desktop, it was the bios startup, and it had been reset to factory default.

Lion on mine scored 9418 in demo mode for version 2.1.10. Just downloading the latest version now.

[edit] And 9480 with v. 2.1.12, so I guess its a worthwhile upgrade, LOL.

New ##### 1.4 fixes the bugs in 1.3.

Now it boots all versions of OS X , if the proper kexts are put in the respective folders.

Why can't Chameleon do it, I wonder.

I still don't know how to make it see Windows partition though.

Graebags,

Would you be able to tell me where you got the MyInstaller.cdr Image from?

Thank you for your time.

All the best

NSCXP2005

I built it following the process indicated by fantomas1, located on this page http://www.obviouslogic.com:8080/solutions/lion-vmware/

To avoid duplication, see this thread for VM building details:

On my machine OSX is installed on a JMICRON controller. Never had problems.

When I'm able to boot Lion from Chamaleon RC3 or 5 with NETKAS boot, it seems more reliable when I have to boot with #####.

##### also doesn't boot when the Jmicron controller is enabled on BIOS. This makes me changes the settings on it (i already create two different profiles for testing Lion to easily do this).

I'm over building and into playing . Flash 10.2 works fine on Firefox 4RC, watching Aljazeera live stream.

Installed Steam (Mac) and it downloaded Civilization V for me overnight. It plays well at 1080p resolution.

Speaking of 1080p resolution, where is the bluray movie support Apple?icon7.gif Guess you've got 6 months to get it together?!!

Anyhow, not to be deterred easily, VLCplayer plays the individual bluray (.m2ts) files very well, though I'm only getting pcm stereo output, not spdif Dolby or DTS 5.1, due to my HDA kext. (moan, moan).

[edit] And while I'm having a moan, Trim support = No! for my ssd anyway.

Lion seems pretty solid with the above, but a bit flaky with Skype, though I did manage a short Audio/video chat, and desktop sharing.

ive noticed on the clock running too fast issue, this is related to the mhz you have set in the ##### config. Im running a 1.5ghz chip, if i set in ##### config that im using 2500 the the system clock runs WAY slow and everything takes forever to boot. if i go the other direction and set it to only 900mhz then the clock runs WAYY fast and everything launches lighting fast. Even internet stuff, however the sound is out of sync with videos. kinda cool. i was able to DOWN clock mine to 600mhz haha, but any lower than that and i get a KP. With all that said, ALL the hicks up i have are related to the #####. cant wait for a solid RC boot option.

PLEASE !!!!!

can someone find out how to make change to the config on #####

all i need is for it to use the lowest screen res first (800x600)

and start in GUI mode, if not display text.

I tried 9 pc and 2 laptops just to get the ##### working, all of then give me the quick flash of "MB Starting" or "M" something. then the black screen of death, no W or D or U or R can save you at this point. I did tri a ibm thinkcentre m52 and i got the indent upper-left cursor, i press W got the GUI saw the Mac OS X Base ..., then selected it to installed, it got stuck about in the middle of its 11th row of dots (.), when loading drivers.

eg:

.................................................... (1)

^

|

V

.................................................... (10)

................... <- here (11)

but all the other system i test this usb on will not display any GUI or change screen resolution.

The same here in NVIDIA card. Wait for 1 hour and finally see the GUI. :S

I hear you and agree 100%. I have JMicron built in on the motherboard. How do you get ##### to recognize Windows on a MBR drive containing OS X and Windows? Chameleon does this with no problem. All I am trying to do, for now, is unify all partitions with 1 boot loader, until Chameleon team figures out a way to boot Lion.

@gorki gorki: looks like your stick isn't bootable. Are you sure you have installed XPC properly?

By the way: Is anyone here, having success to boot Lion on a Intel Atom N270 or on a Intel Celeron (S) 430? I tried both of them, but they don't work: They just show a blank black screen after Chameleon having load the kernelcache

On my Core 2 Quad however it does work but it shows me this double panic thing

(I am using Chameleon 2 RC3 with Netkas' patched boot file)

No errors, no KP’s, perfect!

After install copy the fakesmc and nullcpu kext to installed drive then boot no probs.
