munky
Fwiw, my X1800XL PCI-E with boris method applied supports monitor sleep (and wake!) on my Iiyama VisionMaster Pro 452, conneced via DVI-VGA adapter. Now, I have a question. What about System Sleep? Is the framebuffer driver critical to this process? Right now, when I do sleep, the video powers down, the monitor sleeps etc, but the machine is still running. The same machine DID sleep correctly under 10.4.4 when I was running my GMA950. cardinal
It may be a good start to compare output of kextstat between people who have working setups and people who don't, so we can see what is loaded and what versions. Aberracus, I would appreciate seeings yours, as your system seems to be working well. Here is mine, and my sig has the current hardware:kextstat.txt Working: Resolution change, monitor name recognized, CI/QE on. Not working: Artifacts (like corrupted memory from overclock), crashes (especially when scrolling), No energy saving for monitor. Only VGA through DVI>VGA dongle. Also odd drawing artifacts when playing chess (sort of like some polys are black and flickering while moving pieces). This is on fresh Jas 10.4.6 install with instructions followed as borisbadenov prescribed. munky
My setup: D945GTPLR board, GeCube X1800XL PCI-E, Pentium D920 10.4.5 Myzar clean install, Quixos manual 10.4.6 update. Applied boris patch exactly as he described (ie didnt change the line to support dual monitors or anything). Result: Full res changing, QE, CI, OpenGL, zero artefacts, monitor will sleep. munky
I want your rig Lol... no way jose. This was my final ultimate upgrade before Fatherhood happened (thus i'll never be able to upgrade ever again - too busy buying nappies etc). I wanted a fully-supported killer Aperture machine, and now (finally!) i'm getting to the closing stages of having the thing totally 100% sweet. Last remaining hurdles are FireWire (it doesnt see my powerbook when i hook it up) and system sleep (im hoping that the AppleACPIPlatform.kext from 10.4.3 or 10.4.4 might help here - going to try tonight). If anyone has any wisdom to share on these two issues, give me a PM! Btw Aperture runs SO MUCH SWEETER on this box than on my powerbook its just stupid. Superhai
Ijust wanted to confirm that I got it working with Powercolor Radeon X1800GTO. No mouse tearing. Mouse has shadow. And can choose lots of resolutions. QE, CI works. No artifacts, but I have not tested OpenGL. Clean install with JaS 10.4.6, applied boris fix (altough did not delete any files), and copied binary in ATINDRV/MacOS from 10.4.5 (downloaded from apple site). (ATINDRV from 10.4.6 file goes black and 10.4.4 gives artifacts as noted by lots of people) Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/17767-borisbadenov-ati-x1000-series-solution/page/23/#findComment-121303 Share on other sites
munky
Yeah, its been pointed out to me that the reason I had no success with JaS 10.4.6 disk, and yet had success with Myzar 10.4.5 + Quixos 10.4.6 is that Quixos' 10.4.6 update does not update ATINDRV, so i'm actually using the 10.4.5 kexts. munky
Pitr did, but had limited success, afaik: http://forum.osx86project.org/index.php?sh...16entry116316 edit: my x1800 refused to work with anything other than the 10.4.5 kexts - 10.4.4 gave uberartefacts, and 10.4.6 gave blackscreen of doom give the myzar 10.4.5 disc a whirl - you might have more luck. aberracus
Ok here are my Kexts. Note for those few who doesnt know how to see or edit their kexts, they are in System/Extensions, righ mouse button over the kext, SHOW PACKAGE CONTENTS, look inside for INFO. PLIST, this is the file we need to edit, to edit it, you need to copy the info.plist to your desktop then edit it and afterwards you can drop (with authenticate -u will se it when you try to drop it) back into the Package content replacing the original (i recommend making a copy of the kext first for security reasons). cardinal
Yes u could be right there m8 ,,,, My Xt works absolutly perfect just like gma does What if... Apple's driver changes memory frequency on the video card for some reason (who knows why, maybe to correct a bug in an early batch of notebooks), and jacking up memory frequency of our Pro cards is giving them artifacts and making them unstable? That wouldn't explain why DVI works for some or not, but that could be due to implementation of other hardware on different cards. Those artifacts that I see when card is under any stress (and a crash soonafter) are exactly what happens when you overclock too much, and I've seen a lot of buggy drivers, and that alone never produced artifacts like that. Just a theory... Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/17767-borisbadenov-ati-x1000-series-solution/page/23/#findComment-121433 Share on other sites
