fingerr
Hi All, I'd like to confirm update went fine on my Tecra A7 running iDeneb 10.5.5. Before update I've used IntelCPUPMDisabler. After update I've had to restore AppleHDA, ATINDRV, IONDRVSupport and Natit. ZeuS SN
No luck here. Installed fresh iDeneb 1.3 with all working. Updated to EFI v9 and DSDT patch. Installed 377Mb 10.5.6 Patch. The installation freeze around 56% and after a system reset it doesn't start. With -v on boot, I only see the list of extensions checking, permissions I think, and then a Black Screen forever. Any one have a sugestion ? I try to install the update at least 6 time this morning with same result. mschilling
you mean for laptops? for desktops download this preference panel and replace the one in system/library/preferencepanes/Keyboard.prefPane Yes, on my Gateway laptop. I found a replacement preference pane for trackpads on the msi/wind site that worked for me, and added the missing pane. http://forums.msiwind.net/mac/workaround-f...ings-t6539.html Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/141093-1056-released/page/25/#findComment-1006014 Share on other sites
shawmishrak
For what it's worth, the 10.5.6 update works flawlessly for me. I finally got the XxX 10.5.5 installer to run (had to use mach_kernel and extensions.mkext from Kalyway 10.5.2 installer) and then updated to 10.5.6 via system update. The installation succeeded and the vanilla 9.6.0 kernel even booted for me. I re-installed the Voodo 9.5.0 kernel though, as the vanilla kernel would not allow desktop resolution changes and required the cpus=1 flag. eVGA 680i motherboard Intel Q6600 processor (All four cores work) 4 GB RAM SATA hard drives with AppleNForceATA ALC885 audio with AppleHDAPatcher eVGA 8800 GTX video card with dual-head (2560x1600 on one, 1920x1200 on the other) nForce ethernet (works for ~ 10 seconds with with nForce driver, then dies) Linksys WMP54GS wireless PCI card (Broadcom chipset, works fine) Sleep seems to work alright, and my USB thumb drive works flawlessly. This is actually the first time I've been able to get my OS X install to be stable. Specs : Mobo Asus M2V 2Gb DDR2 667 AMD X2 4600+ NVIDIA 8600GT (with EFI string) I have a similar experience with the upgrade to 10.5.6. The problem may be related to the video drivers. I found that if I removed the EFI strings for the graphics card the system would boot just fine - although only at 1280x1024 resolution. I also tried natit/titan injectors. If I had one of them in the system it would not boot. I got past where the loginwindow app was started, but never to the GUI. Edit: I also found that, not only is the system running, you can also login. While it was stopped on the "-v" message screen, I entered my password and saw disk activity and messages related to opening my user session. Off to do more experimenting Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/141093-1056-released/page/25/#findComment-1006097 Share on other sites
Alex DeWolf
I was able to get the 10.5.6 installed OK but the window lag makes it useless. I will re-install 10.5.5. and wait until the window lag is fixed. eberts
One of my machines did exactly the same. Was working absolutely solid on 10.5.5 but after 10.5.6 update it rebooted at about 60% and after I had problems with sound (easy to fix) and intermittent lack of some USB ports (bit harder to fix but got there eventually) and wierd intermittent interrupt errors for my cheap PCI RTL8169 gigabit ethernet card at startup (tried a few things but no luck identifying the root cause). I guess if everything is working for you the best way to look at it is to consider yourself very fortunate and - "if it ain't broke don't fix it!" If I can't figure out how to resolve my intermittent ethernet issues then I will have to revert back to 10.5.5 indefinitely ... both my ATI cards (2900 and 3870) are working pretty much flawlessly on 10.5.6 although I have other issues, most important being annoying intermittent errors at startup with the cheap fairly standard Realtek RTL8169-based PCI gigabit ethernet card. I can confirm problems with my realtek 8139 pci card as well. Sometimes I could force it to show up again, (by manually setting it as Active=Yes in Networkinterfaces.plist). But then I had issues with USB2 not been detected all of a sudden. So I guess it is an irq conflict. After removing my wireless Netgear pci card + deleting all pref files (network) and setting ethernet to en0 again, I think I managed it - no ethernet issues so far. Maybe an ACPIPath in dsdt could help us (I have one for HDEF since adding that to dsdt)? BladeRunner
I had a good running 10.5.5 system using EFI strings to get my nVidia GeForce FX5500 video card working with hardware acceleration. After doing a software update to 10.5.6 I could not boot into the GUI environment with either EFI strings or NatIt/Titan nVidia support. The GUI would come up if I let it pick a default VGA mode. When I boot from a maintenance partition I can see the following errors in the "windowserver.log" ec 19 14:15:54 [91] Server is starting up Dec 19 14:15:54 [91] kCGErrorFailure: MappedDisplay Driver: can't open any framebuffer Dec 19 14:15:54 [91] kCGErrorFailure: Set a breakpoint at CGErrorBreakpoint() to catch errors as they are returned Dec 19 14:15:54 [91] kCGErrorFailure: CGXDisplayDriverInitialize: No Display drivers loaded Dec 19 14:15:54 [91] kCGErrorFailure: IOHIDSetCursorEnable returns -536870208 Dec 19 14:15:55 [91] CGXPerformInitialDisplayConfiguration Dec 19 14:15:55 [91] Display 0x41dc9d00: VirtualDisplay Unit 0; Vendor 0x756e6b6e Model 0x76697274 S/N 0; online enabled built-in (0,0)[1280 x 1024], base addr 0xb0021000 Dec 19 14:15:55 [91] AGCAttach: Couldn't find any matches Dec 19 14:15:59 [91] kCGErrorIllegalArgument: CGXSetWindowListTags: Operation on a window 0x2 not owned by caller SecurityAgent Dec 19 14:16:01 [91] kCGErrorIllegalArgument: CGXOrderWindow: Operation on a window 0x2 not owned by caller SecurityAgent I have tried placing NVDANV30Hal kext and some others from 10.5.5 into the Chameleon /Extra/Extensions folder but so far, no joy. pavement714
hey, i don't know if this will be useful to many people, but it's the first OSX86 problem i figured out pretty much by myself! i have an hpdv9335nr laptop that i upgraded to 10.5.6 with a vanilla kernel. after update, i lost trackpad settings in system preferences. FF scroll worked but no trackpad setting was present. i downloaded the trackpad prefpane online but adding it did nothing. i figured out a way to fix it, by copying the .globalpreferences.plist file i got from a macbook pro 10.5.6. install. i had to enable 'show hidden files and folders' in terminal. i changed some plist files to my username, then copied it into my /user/library/preferences folder. did a 'repair permissions' to be safe. now the trackpad prefpane is shown! Antonius138
i have a new issue that is kind of odd, but maybe it is an existing issue. I installed XNU 1.0 and then upgraded from iAtkos4i to 10.5.6 via mac update. I have been trying to download different kext files to get my USB, sound and other things to work correctly when I started noticing that I cannot mount .dmg images, even simple ones such as Firefox or the Dell Post installer. The second that it gets to the mounting portion, I get a voodoo related "black screen" with text over my wallpaper and my machine locks up and I have to power down. Anyone else see or experience this? A. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/141093-1056-released/page/25/#findComment-1006599 Share on other sites
