Updated to 10.5.6 with DSDT override (1 warning at patch time).

No lag with itunes, Quicktime and VLC playing at the same time.

Sleep is no longer working (was ok with 10.5.5)

Update :

Sleep issue solved, see : http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?s=&...t&p=1004881

All working

Really??.. yap.. checked the read me and it's mentioned as "DSDT.aml".. but, doesn't say there that has to be renamed. If it's really needed, it should be mentioned!!

Anyway, don't think that the bootloader cares if it is lower case or upper case?!

Sorry for the "mad face" :) on the post.

And thanks for answer.

I not 100% sure but I think I read on forum, post by netkas or faasl, that file must be renamed in uppercase or it won't work.

Cheers

I did the software update through the OSX Software updater, but part way through it crashed.. any ways I started the computer up again, first time it failed. Second time it boots up and the about mac says 10.5.6. So did it update correctly?

What do you mean by "crashed"?

These "major" updates always reboot twice.. i mean, when the installation finishes you have to reboot, then there's a second install at boot time.. it's seems like a crash but it isn't. It reboots again this time to login. Can't remember now the correct name of the process.

Firewire is showing on about this mac - haven't tested it - but SLEEP does NOT work... any hints??

You were correct -

"NO FIREWIRE PORTS CAN BE DETECTED"

Are we getting anywhere with this??

I had the same Issue "No Firewire Ports can be detected" after the update. I pugged my firewire disk into the hackintosh - just for the hell of it - and the System Profiler now shows a firewire port and can mount the firewire-disk without problems. So just using the firewire Port seemed to fix the problem for me :-)

Ok.. thanks for the info. I'll try to know for sure. That is important if the bootloader is "instructed" to check that.

INSTAHackintosh now has PC-EFI v9 (*) with the DSDT patcher and the file goes with the bootloader installer in lower case. And when i tested it was in lower case.. maybe that's why i didn't saw any difference??

I checked Fassl's thread more than i month ago...

(*)(the new version that i don't know when is going to "born".. the autor disapeared :) )

p.s.: Fassl's DSDT thread- http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=133683#

Check the update right at the beginning, guys.

But, as i say, if it corrects some hardware problem, use it ;)

I have the file in lower case too and not possible to rename either.

Im confused though, does it need to be upper or lower case?

Thx

Not sure.. nothing like asking to the right person!

I think that's odd.. If that's the case, why doesn't the patcher generate the file in upper case?

Ok, if the DSDT-Patch isn't needed, how do I get rid of it? Just delete the dsdt.aml file?

yap.. just delete dsdt.aml. But be careful.. backup and keep it in the pocket :)

By crashed I mean, during the install (it did not complete) it froze, and the screen darkened and half (top half) went grey. Sort of like it was trying to load up the kernel panic screen. I had to manually reboot.

Then it rebooted once by itself... I also lost functionality of my front USB ports (rears still work fine)

Well.. it's time for me to fly. I sayed it's was my last post on this thread many hours ago

If you need any help pm me.. i'm no "guru" and my experience is mainly with my rig but, i'm always running around reading this and that. And by now, i must have installed OS X more than a 100 times, testing INSTAHackintosh ;) all in the past 3/4 mounths..

By the way, if you have a RETAIL Mac OS X and are interested in updating it to the last version, shrink it to fit a dvd5, add a OSx86 bootloader, add your needed patches, etc... check INSTAHackintosh here.

The project is paused.. i don't know the were abouts of the dev (STLVNUB).. hope he's fine.

I'll post some news shortly in the thread...

Good luck guys :o

This solution does not work on all system.

It worked on custom build. It didn't work on Lenovo T60.

This is what I did

1) before update

->sudo cp -R Extensions Extensions.5.5

2) Follow the upgrade instructions

=== on reboot, it'll keep waiting for ROOT DEVICE : )) ===

3) use Trnasmac or Paragon Rescue kit

- 1> Rename Extensions/ to Extensions.5.6/

- 2> Rename Extensions.5.5/ to Extensions/

4) Reboot!

*** you should have working system ***

5) Copy over 5 or 6 newer .kext from Extensions.5.6/ to Extensions/ ( I checked file dates, Not sure if those kexts required or not, but did it anyway )

hopefully this will do, until someone find the rite solution.

Thanks a lot for that! It was the only method that worked for me with the voodoo kernal. But I have just one question, what are the 5 or 6 newer .kext that you copied over? I can't tell which are the newer ones because they are all showing the same date and time.

Thanks again.

One last thing..

This is mainly for the "new" guys.. new to InsanelyMac.

Edit you signature and add your hardware.. it helps to help you :o

See ya.......

>> DONE <<

Updated successfully iATKOS_4i to 10.5.6 on my Acer TM 6231 (Celeron M 440, 2GB RAM, 160GB HDD SATA, Intel GMA950, ALC268 sound) without any patch.

I only run remove AppleIntelCPUPowerManagement.kext command in Terminal before run MacOS Update package.

The thing is, after updated, some patched kext as battery, sound,... didn't work. Repatch its again. And thanks my God, it's worked.

- Note: Backup some ACPI & PS2 kexts before run update. When update completed, I restore them before restart computer.

Successfully updated my 10.5.5 to 10.5.6 (see 2nd signature):

First used UInstaller and updated to Chameleon 1.12, then used the dsdt patcher and copied the file to my root, backed up all my modified kext from extensions folder run timemachine and rebooted.

10.5.5 with new chameleon still works -> installed 10.5.6 update through software update.

Reboot-> works but QE not available and no more ps2 mouse and keyboard and no sound.

Reinstalled my modified kext's and everything works like before.

So up and running, just needed to get my bluetooth keyboard/mouse from my other PC to install the kext's.

good luck!

Updated from iAtkos 10.5.5 to 10.5.6 and everything is working except for my USB Keyboard (USB Mouse does work...). I've searched everywhere but I only see people having problems with a PS/2 keyboard. What could I do to get my USB keyboard working again?

Motherboard is a Asus P5K EPU.

updated from 10.5.5 to 10.5.6 on an ideneb v1.3 had everything working before update...

After update i cant get any usb device to work, i know that version is wrong 9.6.0 after install and i have 9.4.0 in system.kext...

Cant get any mouse to work or keyboard ,so im not able to do anything ....

Have the same (without update) on another volume

How can i get the same kernel system.kext installed ??

An update....

put the keyboard and mouse on the front usb and they worked..

Now everything is working so fare......

Have some bugs but will keep you updated

Use a disabler.kext & read carefully this thread http://insanelymac.blogspot.com/2008/12/pr...pdating-to.html. I have been updated successfully my hackintosh and as i said i realized the the system loads faster... I have no bugs...

Couldn't get USB or keyboard and mouse to work without ApplePS2Controller.kext and AppleACPIPS2Nub.kext AND removing DSDT.aml.

Now that that is running, I have no firewire on Asus P5W-DH, About This Mac displays CPU incorrectly and System Profiler seems to be having trouble collecting information about my system.

This biggest bummer is Firewire for now, since my soundcard is over Firewire.

Did anyone try running games or so with a 880 gt or so yet ? guess i will have to try wow or so in a bit .

Doesn't look too good with this "corruption" when starting up Leopard etc .

Wonder if they somehow messed up the graphics for 8800's overall .

To avoid this lag {censored} for now i just avoided upgrading quicktime , but even the people who claim to not have lag issues with quicktime and itunes upgraded seem to have the weird graphic glitch when starting Leopard wich is making me a bit scared of what apple might have done

Hm, I played WOW for several hours yesterday and I didn't see any glitches. But then again I'm using a 9800, altough it's basically the same as an 8800 and I'm also using EFI-Strings from this GPU.

What I find quite interessting is the fact that my graphicscard suddendly seems to be aware of its adjustable and scalable fan. Since 10.5.6 the fan gets faster when used in 3D and slows down when on the desktop. Don't quite know if I like this new behaviour. But then again, that would the normal behavior of this card under WindowsXP/Vista - so problably it's ok...

Anyone else noticed "AppleGraphicsPowerManagement.kext"? Dunno if it was there before 10.5.6 :)
