  5. Even with High Sierra, the Optiplex780 / 760 is not quite at the end. We're still playing! the Optiplex story: 10.10: http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/302877-guide-yosemite-1010x-dell-optiplex-780-760/ 10.11: http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/308097-guide-el-capitan-1011x-dell-optiplex-780-760-755-790-990/ 10.12: http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/312656-guide-macos-sierra-1012-dell-optiplex-780-760-755-790-990/ 10.13: this guide Note: High Sierra supports only CPUs with SSE4 support, example: my Q9400 or my Q8200 working with Sierra. Core2Duo E7200 / Core2Quad Q8200 or higher works as well. See CPU-X.app for your CPU !!! For a direct update from 10.12 to 10.13, you first install the latest version of Clover. Copy your Kext's from Clover/kexts/10.12 to /other. Note new BIOS data and firmware data in Clover's config.plist in SMBIOS. For more information read on. Instructions for Clean Install: 1. Download Install macOS High Sierra.app 2. CreateInstall USB flash drive (8GB) with terminal (If problems with USB, then create internal Install HDD): sudo /Applications/Install\ macOS\ High\ Sierra.app/Contents/Resources/createinstallmedia --volume /Volumes/USB --applicationpath /Applications/Install\ macOS\ High\ Sierra.app --nointeraction 3. Install current version Clover for HighSierra-Support to your Install medium (Legacy-Method): Install Clover in the ESP Bootloader / Install boot0af in the MBR CloverEFI / Clover-EFI 64Bit SATA Drivers64UEFI / EmuVariableUefi-64 Drivers64UEFI / OsxAptioFixDrv-64 Drivers64UEFI / PartitionDxe-64 Install RC Scripts In Target Volume optional: Theme, free choice Install Clover Preference Pane 4. Copy your config.plist and DSDT from your Sierra HDD or SSD or new users from here mount your EFI partition DSDT.aml insert to EFI/Clover/ACPI/patched/ config.plist insert to EFI/Clover/ Attention! Important preparation with HD5450 (780/760/755) With High Sierra, there is a black screen with the HD5450, because C2D and C2Q have no Injector iGPU. Since High Sierra, the HD5450 needs a rollback from Sierra. WhateverGreen.kext + Lilu.kext does not work with LegacyBios, unfortunately. Save in advance the following Kext's from your Sierra installation from /System/Library/Extensions: AMDRadeonX3000.kext AMDRadeonX3000GLDriver.bundle IOAccelerator2D.plugin IOAcceleratorFamily2.kext Note: Optiplex 790 (or higher) with i? CPU with Injector GPU does not require rollback. 7. apfs.efi This is the current apfs.efi from 10.13.4 DP2: apfs.efi.zip The current original apfs.efi can be found after each install or update in usr/standalone/i386/ (use ShowAllFiles!). The new file system is only for SSDs. HDDs continue to work with HFS+. copy the apfs.efi to EFI/Clover/drivers64/ 8. Now High Sierra install on your HDD or SSD (Partitions with Guid scheme) The installation, even with subsequent updates, can take place in several steps. My experiences: APFS two steps HFS+ one step 8.1 With the HD5450 there is a black screen the first time after the install. I take the SSD out of the Dell and connect it to another Mac. Here I am using the app "EasyKext Pro" and doing the rollback from the backup (step 6 above - AMDRadeonX3000.kext, AMDRadeonX3000GLDriver.bundle, IOAccelerator2D.plugin and IOAcceleratorFamily2.kext from Sierra 10.12.6). Reinstall SSD in the Dell and now we get a picture in High Sierra. after installation: 9. Terminal (for unsigned apps) sudo spctl --master-disable 10. Install Clover on your HDD or SSD (Legacy-Method): Install Clover in the ESP Bootloader / Install boot0af in the MBR CloverEFI / Clover-EFI 64Bit SATA Drivers64UEFI / EmuVariableUefi-64 Drivers64UEFI / OsxAptioFixDrv-64 Drivers64UEFI / PartitionDxe-64 Install RC Scripts In Target Volume optional: Theme, free choice Install Clover Preference Pane 11. 8.

  9. The Fix has already been tested on any Mojave version from 10.14.0 to 10.14.4 including all Beta ; and you have already tested it on the Beta 10.14.5 B2, So it should work on the final version 10.14.5 otherwise I just had to fix it on the repos. As for the uninstall you do not need to uninstall, you reinstall and that's all. For AMD cards well that's another story because this program is only for old NVIDIA cards

  10. Hi..@chris1111 You mean..can use on 10.14.4 and 10.14.5 betas? But still only at Tesla..or after run the new package for an example,it will work on a AMD one too..? It will be great if after run the package on a external HDD I could run on Tesla injecting the Nvidia and if not do the injection it automatically under AMD, And can I run this full package over the first one I run? Or how do I uninstall the first one This new full package will be useful for the new versions of 10.14.5 betas..not limited for the 10.14.5 b2? Sorry so many questions.. thank you C.frio

  12. A buenas horas mangas verdes. Lo siento thebig. Imposible solucionarlo.

  16. Clover wiki has been migrated back to sourceforge to try to keep it as up to date as possible, and is now live. Please use this wiki as official from now on. https://sourceforge.net/p/cloverefiboot/wiki/Home/ EDIT: You may comment fixes and suggestions to a page, but they are subject to moderation by admin (basically slice and I) unless you are a team member (but ultimately still manually moderated if necessary). EDIT2: Forgot to give a huge shout out to @arsradu for migrating and updating the wiki. Thanks!

  18. @ cele_82 No, nobody has written yet. In principle as in 10.13! 10.14 needs the telemetry patch and Optiplex780 needs rollback AppleHDA, as already described. HD5450 no longer works with Mojave. You need a GT710, for example, which supports metal graphics. You have to read a lot and find your way to Mojave yourself. Currently I have no time and no desire for a guide. The old box is still working with 10.14.5 DP2:

  19. Well, I'll respond to my own post - it's back. Recommendations if you plan to upgrade VMWare: Uninstall unlocker - whatever you installed. Allow VMWare to update. Re-install latest unlocker. The doc is correct, if you don't uninstall unlocker, VMWare is going to be left in a hosed condition. Interestingly, I received some gripes about some kernel add-ins being blocked. One last thought - don't ask for help on VMWare.... whooo boy did I get shredded. Since I have a mini-mac on my desktop, I thought I was reasonably righteous in terms of the VM. Nope.

  20. I need some advice to repair my VMware situation. Late in 2018 I started playing around with the Mac OS, mainly just to see what it is like.... I've got 1/2 dozen VMs on my laptop - Xp, 7, 10, Linux and Mac OS. Now I admit that back in 2018 I didn't read much about the unlocker tool. I was following a bulleted list, and it just worked. Fast forward to a month ago, and I made the mistake of upgrading my licensed VMware Workstation 14.5 to 14.6. This promptly nuked my Mac OS VM; all of the others boot normally. The Mac just cycles through boot attempts. In a brilliant brain cramp, I figured that I just needed to go get the latest unlocker. So I did, ran it, still no joy. Following a recovery document, I configured my machine to boot a recovery ISO. At this point, I'm figuring that something got hosed in the Mac OS image. This won't even boot. Okay, obviously something is wrong with VMWare. At this point, I've made so many changes I've made a mess. So, I finally read the readme.txt (yes, poking fun at myself) and come across: "Always uninstall the previous version of the Unlocker before using a new version. Failure to do this could render VMware unusable. " Well bless my soul, I'll bet my Mac OS is fine, and I just f'd up VMware. I'm almost certain of it. So, any suggested recovery options? It seems to me that I've got a mismash of the VMWare installation, and I need to: Uninstall unlocker. Uninstall VMWare Workstation. Re-install VMWare Workstation. Using the latest unlocker, install the Mac OS support. Anybody with experience in this conundrum, I'm all ears. Note to future readers - don't upgrade VMWare Workstation if it isn't broke

  21. Delete com.apple.Bluetooth.plist from /Macintosh HD/Library/Preferences and restart. Also, you can try these; Hold down the Shift and Option keys, and then click the Bluetooth menu item. Once the menu is displayed, you can release the Shift and Option keys. The drop-down menu will be different, now showing a few hidden items. Select Debug, Remove all devices. Now that the Bluetooth device table is cleared out, we can reset the Bluetooth system. Hold down the Shift and Option keys once again, and click on the Bluetooth menu. Select Debug, Reset the Bluetooth Module.

  26. I am no expert at this caper -- far from it -- but I am tenacious... and after about four days of effort, I have finally successfully set up Mojave current production (10.14.2) on my old Dell 780. I'm very pleased to report that * audio is working - with custom boot flags and rolled back HDA kext, cachce refreshes (kextutil) and reboots, so many reboots * video is working - not 100% what the real difference was between my previously functional High Sierra setup and this one but as with HS, I ran through the install process until I could go no further, did the kext rollbacks but still I couldn't get the right resolution. In the end, I kept trying different intaller processes and used Chris1111's installer which had the InjectATI flag set (for HS I had to *unset* this). Anyway, it now looks good. * wifi is working - I had to add the injectatheros kext into the clover setup after running the installer AirPortAtheros40 installer 1.0.1.zip (see Downloads), refresh (kextutil), reboot * usb limit - I came across what appears to be a failry common problem where not all of the USB sockets are functional. I had to apply custom patches for correct OSX version in config.plist AND make sure usbinjectall kext was in the Clover folders Forgive my lack of detail (correct file names?) but essentially, I am posting this here so that if anyone else is trying to setup a 780 with the same or similar components, I am very happy to share my configuration files that are working. For those who know more than me, I'd like to explore a couple of extras at some stage 1) is there any way I can explicitly specify the screen resolution or is it only ever going to use the default for the connected display? I've tried changing the resolution in the config.plst of clover but nothing changes. I'm considering changing monitors or even connecting a soon-to-be-replaced TV screen 2) I haven't managed to get my Ethernet connection working. It's not essential but I'd like to have the option if I need it. I'm using the standard on board adapter for the 780 SFF. Currently I get a message about the Ethernet cable being connected and an IP address had been obtained but no internet connection. AppleIntelE100e v3.3.6 is loaded. Is that all I need? Does this suggest something to do external from the Hackintosh? (cable/modem config/??)? 3) My CPU - the Core2 Q9400 is apparently overclockable. Has anyone worked out if it's possible? worth it?

  30. For some reason certain AV tools are reporting a Trojan in the Windows executables. This is a known issue with PyInstaller's bootstrap program with AV tools. Even just submitting the bootstrap exe, run.exe, to VirusTotal show an issue. I am not sure there is anything I can do apart from remove the Windows executables and insist on Python being installed.
