Hi borisbadenov,

can you please put the ouput of:

ioreg -l -w 0

?

just the part with ATIRadeonX1000 something ...

I am trying this on a Radeon 7500 ... and I get a screen out-of-sync.
Here is my output... :

| |   |	 +-o ATIRadeon  <class ATIRadeon, registered, matched, active, bu
sy 0, retain count 6>
	| |   |	   | {
	| |   |	   |   "AccelCaps" = 0
	| |   |	   |   "IOGLBundleName" = "ATIRadeonGLDriver"
	| |   |	   |   "IOSourceVersion" = "1.4.26.11"
	| |   |	   |   "CFBundleIdentifier" = "com.apple.ATIRadeon"
	| |   |	   |   "IOClass" = "ATIRadeon"
	| |   |	   |   "IODVDBundleName" = "ATIRadeonDVDDriver"
	| |   |	   |   "IOProbeScore" = 0
	| |   |	   |   "IOMatchCategory" = "IOAccelerator"
	| |   |	   |   "IOPCIMatch" = "0x4C571002"
	| |   |	   |   "IOAccelRevision" = 2
	| |   |	   |   "IOCFPlugInTypes" = {"ACCF0000-0000-0000-0000-000a2789904e
"="ATIRadeonGA.plugin"}
	| |   |	   |   "IOProviderClass" = "IOPCIDevice"

....

	| |   |	   +-o ATIR62DContext  <class ATIR62DContext, !registered, !match
ed, active, busy 0, retain count 5>
	| |   |	   |   {
	| |   |	   |   }
	| |   |	   |
	| |   |	   +-o ATIR6Surface  <class ATIR6Surface, !registered, !matched,
active, busy 0, retain count 5>
	| |   |		   {
	| |   |			 "IOUserClientCrossEndianCompatible" = Yes
	| |   |		   }

Thanks ....

Sounds like you're on to something here, borisbadenov.

Keep up the great work.

Edit: Gave it its own thread. :)

borisbadenov wasnt this workaround already existing in Hacking ATINDRV.kext? Anyway do u think it is necessary to modify the X1000GA.plugin? i dont think so...
If u have any idea to make it work on RADEON9700 im ur man :)
nice found !

Anyone tried with the X1600 AGP and the X1600 regular version?

would be aewsome if it would work on 9500+ cards

tried it on both my mobile 9600 and regular 9700 Pro, both produce gray screens when the login screen would have appeared.

hum munky have u made the change to the whole atindrv and modified those two lines in X1000GA.plugin?
i dont understand why it would only work on x1600 n specially the pro version since the XT is the one used in real intel macs.

Just a stupid little question.

But someone has tryed on ati9700.kext (and others), to apply this trick on a 9700, to know if it's work...

Just my 2 cent question.

Crazy! I was just about to try the exact same method as boris on my 9600 mobility, and then I came across this thread. Too weird.

Probably won't work with 9600/9700 mobility, but it's worth a try.

i just tried on a x600 card, but i goofed something when i was unloading callisto so i couldn't boot right. I am gonna try this again later probably from a cleaner standpoint (restore original 9700 kexts and try from there, but until then, 9700 status in the air.)

I have just gave it a go with x700 mobile and it's no go. I get a grey screen with 2 black stripes and then hangs. I guess current ATINDRV is for x1xxx cards.

From what I see, if you have an ATIRadeon9700.kext card follow the exact same steps, except set ATY,WORMY to VGA instead of display. I don't see why this wouldn't work.

example:
<key>IONameMatch</key><string>VGA</string>

I gotta get to class, so I will try this after. I believe this should work.

Is that a AGP card or PCI-E? Because if it is AGP I'll be on my way to buy one :)

Did a quick google search and found out that it is PCI-e. If somebody with an AGB card gets this to work please publish your information.
