I had no problems with the update, since when dose anyone need to repair permissions after a update

any users can istall this update on their Hackintoshes..

Intel and AMD.

no dependence of kernel or any other hacked parts.

and repair permissions doesn't necessary too.

EDITED by macgirl:

Don't mislead people, there are reports of AMD users having problems.

Not only the kernel has CPUID calls, and other files may need to be decrypted before install.

If you have experience installing on AMD post it.

If you have a installation DVD or another installation try to extract the files that the sec-update replaced, you can see which files with Pacifist, copy them over your original installation.

Also you can reinstall.

Can you do a clean install instead of erase and install on the Hackintosh? Just trying to save some data here

everyone using osX86 should have at least one small partition (mine is 10 Gigs) for a secondary OS X installation.

(not to mention also having one for all User data)

Have not installed in my .8 kernel sys but just installed in my .4 (Maxxuss) kernel sys (JaS 10.4.7 + JaS 10.4.8 Upd). Result: Samba (Windows filesharing) is not working anymore. I ran MPIP103_10.4.7.SMB.CIFS.APF.FIX.dmg but that didn't help. Looked at the installer package with pacifist and exchanged CoreServices.framework with the old one from my backup, but that wasn't it.

Does anybody have an idea which of the components of this security update is most ikely spoiling SMB?

I just ran the update today using the SecUpd2006-007Intel.dmg on my AsRock P4Dual Intel 915 which has a Celeron D 341J with SSE3 and all is well. Finder works and everything else too. Man, I gotta give a shout out to JaS, Semthex, Vitaly, DaemonES and anyone else I might have forgotten to mention for making this possible. You guys rock. I think SJ should could give you guys a cut for spreading the Mac wealth...lol
