I downloaded the drive G-SATA 2-Port eSATA PCIe Adapter for MAC systems and that fix it! Now I have working e-sata connection!

I still have an issue that it hasn't been widely disscused in the forum. MY e-SATA CONNECTION IS NOT WORKING! (or another way to put it is that my G-Drive is not mounting using the e-sata connection)

Jimmy said that "there is a kext in the installer "appleviaata.kext" that should do the trick, I am using it, based in a marvell controller (IDE/E-SATA)"

This in fact got my IDE DVD drive working, but not my G-Drive so far.

I have bookmarked this page some time ago, you may find most of the answers in "google" ;)

here is the link for "com.apple.Boot.plist" options (link)

THanks for the link, I added the debug=0x100 once as well as the 0x144. I don't know, it doesn't make any difference. Shutdown still doesn't work. Am I supposed to get any files out of this?

Can this have something to do with ACPI?

Last time I tried to shut down, this was what verbose mode + debugger gave me: Pic attached

Hi,

first of all, THANKS for that nice how-to-do, Jimmy, It worked just as you said, although I had to get a USB DVD since my IDE DVD would only read errors.

So now I installed the Retail and are on 10.5.7 now, everthing works....EXCEPT THAT BLOODY SHUTDOWN!! :D:P

Its driving me nuts, I read every post, there is, still no solution: it just won't shutdown completely

Even now with the Retail installed that Hackintosh won't shut down.

Sorry but this is my first Post up to now I've only read and read and tried, does anyone know what I do wrong?

This is what I did:

Put Sata into AHCI

INstalled with Retail as planned with UInstaller afterwards

10.5.7 Combo update no restart

PKFam Installer 10.5.7 restart without attansic

Installed AD1988B INstaller

INstalled NTFS-3G

Installed Youkon88E8056 Installer

Thats it so far

THX for everything so far this is a great community

Hi. Thanks for your post Jimmy.

I have the same problem with shutdown. Sleep works with the IOUSB Family kext.

OpenHaltRestart.kext and EFI9 are installed.

Any idea?

Regards

Hi, I have installed 10.5.7 in a P5K SE/EPU and I have a problem, I have no sound. I have no sound through digital output.

Any idea?

When you open the System Preferences Sound pane, what do you see? For my system I had to reselect the top one "Unknown" then reboot to get sound again.

Well, so probably it is the media (dvd) that is not working properly.

Did you get the 10.5.6 Retail DVD? If not try installing with it!

Otherwise try another VGA, borrow from a friend in order to install it (or buy a geforce 8600GT, it is cheap and work fine), then use your old one.

Update: For those who may also have problems with the ATI Radeon video card when installing and using MAC OSX Leopard.

Besides using a borrowed videocard which is not always possible.

You can also just boot from the installation with the options: -v and -x (safe mode including system messages).

Then update your system with the most recent Natit.pkg (in my case edition May 13th 2009).

My system is working on an ATI Radeon HD 2600 XT 256MB Dual DVI;

(Dual screens 2 x Samsung 226 BW (resolution 1680x1050 x 2).

Hi, I have tried Unknown in VoodoHDA and Sound panels and also I have tried SPDIF in both panels.

Result: no sound.

I have tried to delete the kext's and reinstall them.

Does anyone else get crackling noise with 5.7 and VoodooHDA ? really disturbing..

I had this problem too.

Solved it by reinstalling the VoodooHDA files (driver).

Then select the 'Unknown' profile (again).

After the reboot everything works properly, at least here.

Perhaps the crackling sound is because the 'VoodooHDA kext, 0.2.1' is still in beta stage?

PS. Only if the computer wakes from the sleep mode, the machine, sometimes suffer from a squeaky sound.

I did that too, thought the problem disappeared, but It comes back everytime I switch between my external Firewire Interface and the internal soundcard. ( I have to do this quite often because my system is also connected to a HD TV with speakers)

System works fine apart from this...

Any ideas?

Hey Wallymc,

Can you tell me how to install reinstall the VoodoHDA files only without installing the whole package and creating a kernel panic due to duplicate kext?

Awesome tutorial!

I was about to try it in my P5K SE/EPU, but the BOOT-132 CD keeps giving me checksum errors... Any idea?

I'm trying it in an IDE device, but I don't see where it can be the source of the problem :-P

Also, I tried another two BOOT-132 discs, with no success at all...

I never had any success with IDE drives...

Does anybody have any ideas or insights regarding the VoodooHDA crackling problems?

Jimmy tens uma idéia?

cião!

Hi, the VoodooHDA kext is in it´s early stages, but very promissing. The reason I switched to this kext is that I want to have a system as close to a vanilla installation as possible. And some people were having KP caused from 10.5.6 version of AppleHDA (downgraded one) in 10.5.7 systems.

With VoodooHDA there is no need to downgrade AppleHDA, in fact it does not use it at all.

You may try using HDAEnabler.kext to solve crackling problems.

or

You may want to switch back to the old kext, Install HDAEnabler, LegacyAppleHDA..., and AppleHDA from 10.5.6.

Turn debug on, find out which kext is the one responsible for the KP, seatbelt kext fixes some KP

10.5.7 system? Using AppleHDA + LegacyAppleHDA... ?

Sorry, only a few IDE DVD have been reported to work... Get a Sata Device (or borrow one) for the instalation

"IDE Hard drives work"

Hi Jimmy, do you get anything out of the picture I added in my last post, I still need help with that shutdown. Sorry I don't want to be annoying, I just don't understand all of it, although Im getting better.

I added the picture one more time.

If you can't help me, ok, thx anyways you have already been such a great help...all of you of course are.

AppleYukon (ethernet), also sound incompatibilities

See if you need to downgrade this kext...

Also you could inform which is your Ethernet and Sound Card!

Update this kext

Ah, ok so its Ethernet and or soundcard, thats wired, since they seem to work flawlessly, I'll try to downgrade them.

I have the regular sound and Lan which comes onboard with my P5K-E WiFi App. Its the AD1988B

and the Marvell 88E8056 Gigabit LAN.

Thanks for your answer. :)

Before downgrading... did you install seatbelt.kext? That could solve your problem.
