Hey Folks,

I just installed IATKOS V1.0i to my system which is mentioned in my signature. I used darwin + efi and org kernels during install and it went so smooth and stable. The system works and its rocking except SHUTDOWN / RESTART / SLEEP commands. I always get soft shutdown with a black screen and case power is still on. For the Restart I have the same issue.

Any concrete advices is really requested.

Thanks and Merry Xmas ALL,

Trance 2007

I have two words, " Uphuck RULES!! " after failing in installing almost all popular DVD i tries iATKOS and installs flawlessly. vanilla kernel, EFI Drivers.. the whole SHBANGG!! Online update successfully installed. Everything works perfectly.

just one small issue .. the NTFS drives are not shown in finder and i get a message at startup- 'cannot read inserted disk' but when marked reveal in finder from 'disk utility' it reads the contents fine. any way to fix this.

iatkos ppf patch r2 has been released check uphuck forums for download links. sse2 support has been added, downloading now http://uphuck.ggrn.de/forum/showthread.php?t=612

the IATKOS release 2 patch needs to reinstall the whole system? or just patch while osx is running?

Hey guy, I almost success to insall iAtkos with some problem.

1. I have to type : "-legacy -v" to be able boot into Leo

2. The CPU always load 70-90% --> can not do anything at all

What can I do to fix these problems? (remove some kext... or sth else)

Thanks in advance.

Took me 3 hours to figure this one outIf yours is Disk0s1, try 1 and 1, not 0 and 1.
Maybe this has been covered, but I can't find it anywhere. How do I change Disk0s1 to Disk1s1. Come on guys help this rookie out. :)

Oh yeah, I'm using a brand new hdd. So I won't bother my Vista one.

Here are answers to a few questions I saw above.

1. If your laptop is to HOT and fan wont turn on. DO NOT install vanilla kernal. Go back unselect the vanilla options at install time. Youl get better support that way.

2. Battery icon problem two ways to fix depending on system. A. DO not install vanilla kernal and see if that gives you battery icon working. B. Install vanilla kernal but DO NOT install ACPI vanilla. This is what worked for me. I get the battery icon but no speedstep (my fan always works so its a minor loss, to not have the CPU clock lower when idle, plus you can add later when they uphuck gets it working with vanilla kernal).

Also keep in mind. The vanilla kernal will not work with instel speedstep option in iATKOS. If you do not install any vanilla stuff it seems to be the BEST for most systems, best compatibility.

I have iATKOS about as tweaked as I think I can get it. I'm down to some nitpick things, and right now my challenge is the System Profiler. The hardware summary has my Machine Model as all jibberish characters. I've tried modifying Localizable.strings and SPMachineTypes.plist, but it seems to ignore these changes. I am using the stock EFI stuff. Am I doomed to be jibberish!?

About this mac fixed :P

To replace the logo

/System/Library/CoreServices/loginwindow.app/Contents/Resources/MacOSX.tif

To Fix the display text

/System/Library/CoreServices/SystemVersion.plist

:D the iATKOS one is not bad!!! does need some recolouring!

but a nice tip for those whom want to change the logo.

:D

Well I guess I'm just thick headed, but I finally figured it out. When in the darwin boot terminal, instead of telling it that the disk number was 0, i said 1. So I guess persistance pays off.

Fire up Disk Mangler, select the drive (not the partition) in the left, select "Partition" in the right top bar, Change volume scheme to whatever you want. You can pick the format and rename to "KMA" if you want. :D

hi there, iatkos works fine here, exept some small things..

1: my sleep is not working (it goes into sleep, but not out)

2: my laptop gets rather hot, any way to set the fan speed up?

im using EFI and vanilla kernel..

Grtz,

Gerben

1: same here.

edit: fixed it but adding the apple acpi kext file. now everything is smooth.

Hi everyone. I'm an OSX rookie and I'm thrilled about being able to run it on a PC. So far I've been able to install the Uphuck 10.4.9 OS Tiger release but I'm having no such luck with Iatkos .

I have a Dell Latitude D820 with an Nvidia NVS 120 graphics, 200 gig sata drive(single partition). My issue is that after install I get a "b0 error". My understanding from searching through the forums is that this means the drive is not set as the active boot drive. But I've run the Darwin Boot from utilities before and after install(choosing drive: 1 partition: 1 (Disk0s1)with EFI. Afterwards I choose the two EFI options in the installation. Set up runs ok except when the actual installation begins there the install is inactive (no hard drive activity) for about the first five minutes other than the cd-rom spinning but fater that install fine. I've tried booting the system with the install disc in the drive after boot but is just brings me back to the installation menu. I've also tried selecting boot with Gparted but it already shows that the drive has the boot flag(no other flags) and finally I've tried running fdisk on the install cd and setting the boot drive and partition flags and still nothing. I'm wondering if maybe this is a problem with the sata drive. Note that there is not an option in th D820 bios to change to ACPI, although I'm not sure there should be. Also I have a Core 2 Duo but my Laptop on Tiger only work if I choose 1 core in the bios or run cpu=1, I have it currently running with 1 core in bios for Leopard installation assuming it will only run on 1 core. Sorry for the lengthy post but I just wanted do provide as much detail as possible, any help with this issue is greatly appreciated!!!

You are totally right, Same here I tried all the combination you mentioned and it is exactly what happen, but never tried the vanilla kernal with out the vanilla ACPI, and I am glad that it worked for you, may I know what is you system because I have hp 9000t and it seem this computer heat and fans are not controlled by any software even in vista and xp, it seem it have mind of it own when it comes to controlling the fans. Also I would add with vanilla I get perfect sleep and wake up no problem but restart and shutdown is not so great some times I need to hard shutdown.

I have a noob question

so i got the iATKOS and it is in iso format

do i just burn it as the iso format or do i use daemon tools, open it and burn the contents of that?

Burn it as an ISO image not data, pop it in your drive and reboot. Make sure you have your DVD drive as being able to boot before your hard drive in your bios. Also back up anything you don't want to lose as you things can get deleted pretty easily. Recommend using a completely blank hard drive, disconnecting any other drives so you can't erase them, drive starting out and building from there. So much of this is trial and error.

Will I b able to use this in my Asus G2S-A1 and have the drivers work

the specs are:

C2D T7500 2.2Ghz

Geforce 8600M GT 256 DDR3

Intel 965 chipset

2GB Ram 667Mhz

HDD 160GB

Wireless: Intel 4965 Draft-N

LAN: Attansic L1 Gigabit Ethernet

Also can I install this onto a external HD and boot off that?

thnx
