I was experiencing the same problem with my install, then I realised I missed an important step, in my eagerness I overlooked the "umount -f /dev/diskxsY command, and after completing the first two steps I had to type "Exit" to free up the disk so I could unmount it in Disk Util so I could do the third command.

I rebooted and it gave me /com.apple.boot.plist couldn’t be found error, so I am currently installing Leopard again, I will report back on how it went...(Although I do not use a Bad Axe Mobo, I wanted to point out my stupidy in the hope it might help)

you know, i was wondering why i couldn't unmount the partition. but i tried that exit command and it still wouldn:t let me unmount, weird huh. ran the final command anyway.

Well, I got it to boot with GUID disk

Just a quick question for the smarter types out there...with the new GUID, do I still need to have dsmos.kext and AppleSMBIOS.kext installed...

I installed both, but was wondering if both were needed, and for everyone who wants to try, I agree with previous posts, it does seem much faster and more responsive.

Many thanks to the very very smart peeps out there

and my Xbench Score went from 125 to 138 :P

Yes. Both are still needed.

so those of you with 7.2 working, are you able to still dual boot/install an alternate os? i see where bootcamp doesn't currently work with 7.2

I haven't seen any reports whatsoever (so far) of anyone being able to install Boot Camp on a Hackentosh machine running OSX (Tiger or Leopard).

The OSX Boot Camp installer checks the motherboard bios version first. So: tinkering with the Boot Camp installer would probably be required.

Installing the Boot Camp components on a Windows partition: not sure...

Thanks richtig, i see where flibblesan is dualbooting his box, so that is sufficient.

I run Vista on a separate hdd but I use a grub. I will try to make the OSX drive bootable with v7_only directly without a grub.

Question on upgrading to 10.5.1

Can I do it and will work just fine ? Anyone can confirm this ? What's GeekBench2 reporting after the upgrade ?

Could anyone be kind enough to:

1) Tell me where I can get pc_efi?

2) Will it work on my PC? (Check specs below)

3) Can I install it on this Flat Image install of Leopard?

Thanks all :(

1) From the IRC channel on http://netkas.org...

2) Every thing looks good

3) Yes you may

1.) get it from irc.osx86.hu #leopard

2.) should be able to install on that hardware, but with most of the hardware used here, your mileage may vary

3.) not sure, this tutorial recommends brazilmac patched leopard retail dvd. (there are other tutorials for installing leopard from the flat image)

oops, i_am...me beat me to it.

Ok, I got the file. Now here's another question: how do I go about actually installing it? I only have Leopard running, alone on this HDD. Can anyone explain which method should I use?

Thanks i am me and replicant for answering :)

you trying to install efi 7.2? if so, i_am...me posted his take on installing it a page or two back. ("it" being efi 7.2). netkas.org also has an FAQ on installing it.

if you are asking how to install leopard, well you look to already have that part done.

mmm. i just did another reinstall and system boots just fine. but i still get no keybooard error. has anyone else encountered this on a laptop?

I haven't tried it yet, but this might help: http://diddyurl.com/338

It's an already-compiled version of the 'ACPIPS2Nub' I mentioned earlier. I found the link on: http://netkas.org/?p=18

cool thanks! another thing i was thinking was maybe the brazilpatched already used something like this. so i was gonna try to copy the ApplePS2Controller from brazilpostpatch extension files. what do you think?

i dont understand how leopard is installs with brazil mac, kalyway and pc efi, all files that when added together are less than 300mb, am I missin something here? I know that I should just be installing and enjoying leo but I must satisfy my curiousity, or maybe I'm missin some other file here?

Agon, you can patch the original disk with Brazil Mac's script. A patched BrazilMac disk is floating around, do a search!

Ill wait for tpb to come back on and ill check on there, ive checked ohter places all they got is the 13mb and 9mb. Ill check bak in a bit if i still dont find it.
