Do you have XD (Execute Disable) Technology enabled in the BIOS? I read somewhere that you'll get kernel panics unless it's enabled.

booting the hard disk i installed leopard to with -s gives the same errors as above.

I tried to boot backinto the ToH dvd to make the changes through that, but it didn't detect my hard disk (a common problem i've encountered through this process, it takes two or three bootups before the ToH dvd sees my hard drive)

I was only able to try it once before i had to leave for class.

I'll try it again when i get out of class in 90 mins or so

i had looked for this before in my BIOS, but couldnt find it, i'll look again, maybe i missed it.

if anyone knows for sure that the GA-965GM-S2 has or doesnt have it, that'd be great.

I have the Gigabyte 945GCMX-S2 , no sound, so I need the ALC888 patch now to get all 6 audio ports functioning (including audio IN). Where can I get the patch and how to install?.

How to do a backup of the whole system? Incase I do somethings wrong I can restore back.I do'nt want in reinstall the whole OS again.thanks.

Hey guys, I just wanna say that I gave it a try to 10.5.1+PC_EFI_V8, and guess what: it worked! I'm not surprised because it just worked, but because it worked on a Pentium 4 (prescott) running 9.1.0 sleep kernel from netkas.

The way I did: installed the ToH release with 9.1.0 sse3/sleep kernel from netkas; put the EFI_V8 to work (with grub); made a backup of AppleSMBIOS.kext, Natit.kext and mach_kernel; installed the 10.5.1 from software update and after the reboot I booted in ToH dvd to replace the three files mentioned. After that, everything worked pretty fine!

It was done in a Pentium 3.2 HT (prescott), MB MSI 915P Combo.

still no use, i removed the file, and i get the same error, no matter how i boot.

I'm gonna try you method here

Guide+Support; to installEFI v8...

i_am...me

hopefully i'll have better luck with that.

otherwise hopefully iATKOS will come out in the very near future, making it all easier...

I need to move Leopard on the other disk, so I choose to install it again.

So, here's the question:

I have HDD with partitons:

-Win XP (30gb, NTFS)

-partiton for leopard (50gb, HFS+)

-storage partiton (220gb, NTFS)

So, if I install Leopard with this method, can I be sure that other partitons will remain untouched? Of course, I want to use MBR partition table, and boot Leopard with chain0 method.

10.5.1 installed without problem.. :(

Used asap18´s P5KeFix script for sound and Lan..

No suport for my 8500GT but awaiting a 8800GTS 320MB arriving soon now..:P

Hi all, great manual!!

I have a gigabyte 945GCMX-S2 and leo 10.5.1 with pc_efi73 (with GUID partition table):

well, if the system don´t crashes everything is working.

Only had to change de dev id of my dlinkG520 wireless card (highly recommended if you can get one) in the AirportAtheros.kext

If i plug i spdif connector to the board (i want to connect it to a home cinema) i think it will detected without problems, did somone try this or can confirm this?

Thanks

it took a while ( because i was waiting for ups with my new chip and my brazilmac disk was screwed up ) but i finally got it all working, great guide btw, thanks to onetrack's help and tutorial...although i don't have sleep, my mobo is a foxconn 45cm 945gc and it has got the same chipset as the ga945gcmx-s2 except for network ( i'm prolly wrong somehow).

anyone have any ideas about fixing sleep other than getting a new mobo?

also updated from apple no problem!!!!

btw.....if i had time machine working with the toh insallation and the same machine, then....should i have changed out the ionetworkingfamily.kext as per this tutorial?????( in order to get time machine woking on this install)..... i didn't check if it worked before i swaped that kext out

Note:

So far there are 10 confirmed people on the forum running 10.5.1 - please read through for various board issues and how they were overcome

Confirmed installations :

Here is a quick how to which will be fleshed out over the next little bit as to a full installation method for Leopard with a properly created Brazilmac disk, the Kalyway Make Boot CD for Leopard and the kexts you need for a perfect system.

1 Copy of a properly prepared Brazilmac disk

1 Copy of the Kalyway boot prepare cd for Leopard

I need some direction. I downloaded Kalyway and Brazilmac from P-Bay, but they do not appear to be disk images.

How do I create a "properly prepared Brazilmac disk" ?

How do I create a "Kalyway boot prepare cd for Leopard"?

Thank you.

A prepared brazilmac disc is an original Leopard DVD patched for hackintosh with the brazilmac patch. You can find brazilmac's patching guide here if you want to patch it yourself OR you can download a prepatched BrazilMac disc via torrent. Search for "Leopard GM 9a581 Patched for Intel PCs".

The Kalyway boot prepare disc you can just download via torrent (TPB). Search for "Format & Make Bootable HD for Leopard".

Hi there,

I got a problem. The installation process stops after "BSD root: disk1s3, major 14, minor 5" is shown. More specifically, I ran Kalyway's Make Boot HD for Leopard for my hard disc and then booted from BrazilMac-patched Leopard disc with boot option "-v". Then it stopped. It seems not to load any kexts. ;) (I didn't know this before but from Onetrack's guide, I realize I should wait about 20 minutes for the installation screen to show up. Thanks for that, Onetrack.)

The logical set-up is, the hard disc has two partitions, one with size 19GB for the Mac OS X Leopard, and the other with 130GB for the user data (partitions are done for Journaled HFS+ with Disk Util in Kalyway's CD). They show up as disk0s1 and disk0s2 and the DVD is disk1 (reported by System Profiler in Kalyway's CD).

Any ideas? Thanks.

I have a problem with this command:

cp -R dsmos.kext /Volumes/[Volume Label]/System/Library/Extensions/

The result is "Operation not permitted".

There is a solution? I don't know anything about unix commands

First thing, are you in the folder that 'dsmos.kext' is in? You can check by typing ls (that's a lower-case LS) and ensuring the file/folder is listed.

Second, did you replace '[Volume Label]' with the label of the Leopard partition? You can find out what the label is through Disk Utility, or my typing mount in the terminal. Also, remember that everything is case sensitive in Unix....

i´m not sure aboute this error but i had this message after pressing the resseting bottom cause i cannot reboot the system, so i think is a disk error. Try first to install with only one partition and use disk utility to check your hd.

Since the error is mentioning disk1(s3), and your DVD is disk1, I would think that either you have a bad disc, or your DVD reader is not reading it properly. Do you have an extra burner? Have you tried re-burning the disc, maybe at a slower speed?

Yes I was in my pen drive that contains alla files needed to patch Leopard.

My command was

cp -R dsmos.kext /Volumes/MacintoshHD/System/Library/Extensions/

@chinasky

Thanks for replying my question. :( I did try single partition only before trying two partitions. No use though. Then I tried two partitions. In any case, Disk Utility says okay with HDD. I will try to use Seagate Disc Utility to check the integrity of my HDD. By the way, did you succeed installing Leopard?

@anarchy_1024

Thanks for suggesting to try different DVD burners. So far I did try three different burners. Two Samsungs (one new SATA and one IDE) and one NEC (one really really old IDE) burners. Same result all the time. The BrzailMac patched ISO image is sitting on DVD+RW written by Nero 8 at 4X (full) speed. I will try to burn it at 1X and see what happens.

I heard that this is the DVD problem not the HDD problem. But after failing with three different DVD burners, I am not sure. I used my HDD for Windows at SATA 1.5Gb speed for some time. But I took out the jumper controlling the reduced speed from the HDD, ran Disk Utility to partition and format it.

Any other suggestions? Too much investing without result makes me :thumbsup_anim: Pardon my french.
