Kalyway OSX86 10.4.10 Installer

Hey everyone. This is my first post here, though I've been reading quite a bit here and actually based my system off of BJMoose's setup minus his video card.

Welcome aboard! Man...now I've got to run out and get a new gfx card. I actually have been looking at the 7900GS as a possible upgrade...but I'm not in too much of a hurry since the 7600GS is working well. I'll be interested to see your xbench results with that 256mb card. I don't really see much difference in performance between my 512 or my 256mb cards.

I completed my installation and everything is working great I had one software problem but I fixed it... I was trying to install MS Office and it wasn't letting me to do so, so I copied CFMSupport from my other osx machine and now I installed and every software is working great except few which needs CI/QE support.

 

If I fix my gfx then it is great. I have a nvidia 8500GT and still searching for the some solution. Once fixed this installation served me great

i love the new update. i have one complaint though, i was using uphuck v10.4.9i and my wired ethernet connection worked on install, this time around it doesn't work. I do not know for sure what i have, but i do know it is intel ethernet. anyone have any ideas?

Glad to see you've got it up and running. For future installs, so you won't have to go through the trouble of copying the CFMSupport folder, here is Kaly's latest fix for that problem. His first fix had an error, but this one works great.

BJMoose - I was very close to getting a 512MB card, but ended up getting this card OEM really cheap...and I've never experienced a huge difference in the amount of RAM for video editing atleast, which is what I do. I think that's more important if you're using a 3D imaging program like maya.

 

I do have one question for you however. At the start of this thread you mentioned that Final Cut wouldn't startup for you. I'm having the same issue, however I don't understand your fix for it. It quits while 'loading FCS engine' -- how did you get yours up and running? All other apps in the suite work fine.

I had two separate problems with FCS2. Both are taken care of with the latest PPF1 and patch fix v2 from Kaly. Before these patches, I needed to replace the appleSMBIOS.kext in the extensions folder with a newer one (v.1.0.6). Repair permissions, reboot and all was okay.

 

The other problem was that I couldn't register my FCS2 with Apple or my CS3 suite with Adobe. I kept getting an error saying that it would try again later. As it turned out, this was tied in to a problem inherent in Kalyway's installer with Safari and iTunes. Kaly solved that very quickly with his patch fix v2 that I relisted in a post not too far above this one. Hope this helps.

I just want to make sure I'm not installing something that I shouldn't be here...is the PPF1 patch around 10.5mb ziped?

 

edit -- no it is not...this appears to be a playstation emulator. sillyness...i'm off to continue my search

The PPF file is on the demon sept 16th and is about 130mb in size.

Ok. I have downloaded the PPF file, and have sucessfully patched the Kalyway .iso file. Is there a way I can now install the updated files without having to do a fresh install?

 

For anyone just joining the thread. I have already installed the Kalyway 10.4.10 without the PPF fix and I cannot load Final Cut Pro.

I did an upgrade install booting off of the DVD and it worked just fine.

 

My system is 100% up and running with Final Cut Pro and CS3. This forum is something wonderful...thanks for supplying the tools and some human contact throughout

Glad to see you up and running. I know there's always a certain amount of personal satisfaction at having overcome some obstacles. Also glad that you didn't have to re-install everything. So you just installed the new disk on top of your current setup without erasing the disk first, right?

Hey, rerecently tried installing 10.4.10 and ran into a snag. instalation went nice and had no problem with it recognizing my partition. But after reboot and i attempt to boot from that partition it hangs. gets to "Couldn't read user-specified local hostname; using default bMacintosh-001A9243FG72.locallb instead." and all hd activity stops

 

1 time I turned away and looked back only to see my entire screen covered with vertical white lines about 3 pixels wide.

You can't change the actual install, but if you go into system preferences, profiles, and then into the tab that lists items installed on bootup. I'm not at my Mac right now so I can't remember the exact nomenclature. Just click on each of them and delete them. You can change the color of the folders as I mentioned in the post above.Go to finder, preferences and the general tab to make sure of what shows up on your desktop. Sounds like a lot, but you can do it all in less than a minute. Hope this helps.

Hello everyone. I have recently installed the Kalyway 10.4.10 disc. I have an eVGA 680i motherboard and a 8800GTS video card. I have a core 2 duo chip which supports sse3. Has anyone had luck installing this specific package with both or any of these pieces of hardware?

 

First, I am not sure which specific drivers to install. I am pretty sure I have azalia audio, so I check that one. Other than that, I don't really know. I saw in another thread that there are new drivers for the 8800, but, I'm assuming I have to get INTO os x first to install them, right?

 

After the install finishes successfully, I reboot to the new mac partition. Everything starts to load, and I see a gray apple logo for just a sec, and then it reboots. Any ideas on what to try? I've already tried disabling onboard sound, LAN, and my other (non used) hard drives, but the same problem. I've also unplugged any unnecessary PCI cards as well.

 

Any help getting this up and running would be great. Thank you.

I just installed this and I must say almost everything works great. The only problem I'm having is getting QE & CI working. I have tried using al ATI 1X00 and /or Natit x1600 configurations but nothing works. I have Jas 10.4.8 (8.9.1, PPF1+PPF2) + 10.4.9 update installed on a second disk and Natit works perfectly (QE & CI).

Does anybody else have this problem?

Can it be an incompatibility issue with the 8.10.3 kernel?

 

Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!

My new GeForce 7600GT seems to be working very well, except in Kalyway 10.4.10.

 

There are some Open Source games (GLTron, Armagetron) that report 350-500fps, but other programs (iTunes Visualization, MacCrackAttack etc.) that seem to max out at 30-40fps. What gives? XBench only returns 92 for OpenGL test, and I thought this would beat a dual-G5 video card...

 

All these programs are Universal/Intel and all use OpenGL - what makes one work perfectly, and not the other?

hey kaly, i keep getting a kernal panic on boot up, the last thing i see is at the bottom of screen and it displays the kernal info version and stuff,

under -v it has a hard panic and will not go any further.

 

the uphuck 10.4.9 installs fine and runs fine minus the video cards i have.

 

system specs

2 Xeon 3.2ghz

2gb ram ddr33

160 sata drive

dvdrw sata drive

onboard video ati, also have ati 1900gt or nvidia 7800gtoc wichever one will work first..

 

when i install i install the main system and the sata kext, my motherboard has ich6 sata.

 

also with the nvidia card, i cant boot to the disk, on any installer the video screen just goes blank, with the ati card, i can get to right when it loads into the GUI , but never goes into GUI stays in text. does the same after an install with uphuck to..

 

any help would be much apprieciated

hi i installed this and everything is working fine on my laptop just like uphuk was except 1 thing. uphuck got my keyboard and trackpad working. This did not do so automattically like it did. So how do i get them working on my laptop?

Office 2004 doesn't work after installing this...error about <carbonlib> - seems to be a known problem with 10.4.10

 

Also my Intel Pro 1000 card stopped working.... See's the card and correct mac address but refuses to DHCP and IP address.

 

Oh well, Gave up and gone back to uPhuck 10.4.9

I have to return to 10.4.6 because in this "little bit of hip-nop it won't work" can't do anything right.

 

I don't know how I will resolve the other problems but this is the reason I wanted 10.4.10:

And by the way.

How does 10.4.6 know my P4 and for 1.4.10 is Unknown?

thanx very much.my ethernet doesnt work whether i install any drivers for that or not.i checked almost all intel drivers(one by one) and none of them worked so far.although on jas 10.4.8, the ethernet worked out of the box.also which driver is there for the realtek alc882 chipset,coz if no driver is installed and then afterwards i install the driver,it doesnt install.but when i tried the same after installing the azalia driver,my new driver installed and worked fine.

 

i also tried the dvd on a hp pavillion, ati chipset.installed perfectly,but gave a kernle panic as the system kept restarting.what patches are there??should install the lower kernel patch??

Does anyone successfully install Kalyway 10.4.10 DVD on HP DV6000t? I tried 3 times on my HP DV6426us, but it stop at blue screen after reboot. The computer is not hang, I can see Cap lock led on and off, but can find no way to install it on my laptop.

it has been say so many time. before complain read the forum. the carbonlib issue is due to a bug in Rosetta files. Kaly has posted a fix : see the post #101. you will find a link to the fix. Apply the fix and you will not have anymore problems with the carbonlib.

No it is not due to the 8.10.3 kernel but maybe to the fact that this distro is based on iMac install , and there are new frameworks. I met the same problems with my X1950XT. i modified the ATIRAdeonX1000 kext and now i've got QE/CI working
