Official Uphuck v1.4i r3 10.4.9 Installation DVD thread

Install went smoothly on my PC, had to use the following:

v1.4i Main System

Remove CPUPowerManagement kext

AppleSMBIOS.kext Netkas

SATA Support

USB Driver

PS/2 Driver

Azalia Audio

IONetworkingFamily 10.4.8

I also chose to install Temperature Monitor and FrontRow.

Due to having a 8800GTS 320 MB, I had to remove ndvaresman.kext before the system would boot into the GUI, obviously due to no support this meant no res changes, QE, CI etc.

Two problems with it however

1) Whenever you click Network in System Preferences the application crashes

2) MACH Reboot does not work, you have to press the reset button manually

Any ideas on how to fix the two above problems would be much appreciated! - For the first I have already tried raplacing System Preferences.app and Network.prefPane to no avail.

Edit: Gave up, installed Uphuck 1.3 then the files I needed from Uphuck 1.4i r3 - now networking is working great but reboot still doesn't work for whatever reason!

Waiting for boot volume with UUID xxxxxxx

Waiting on <dict ID="0"><key>IOProviderClass</key><string ID="1">IORessources</string><key><string id="2">boot-uuid-media</string></dict>

Not able to boot with this version on a Gigabyte 965P DS4.

Tried all the different bios settings and still getting the "still waiting for root boot device"

Funny thing is that the unphuk version 1.4ir1 is working just great!.. Something got messed up..

Installed r3 this morning. All I checked was the Natit dual .02 and the IONetworkFamily.kext for compatibility with FCS2. The only things I added was KoolKal's 10.4.10 update and the 1.06 version of the AppleSMBIOS.kext. That's the one that seems to work best for me and it keeps CS3, FCS2 and Microsoft Office happy. Terrific job on this one uphuck. It's the closest thing yet to a one disk solution for the BadAxe2 motherboard. I use the Creative Labs USB board for sound and that works out of the box so no need to play with audio drivers. Now...if you just didn't have to remove mail, isync and dictionary. ;)

Everythings works great except the mobile 7800GTX. I have choosen the Nvidio mobile VGA options. The other drivers try to display on an external monitor only.

The Windows are not refreshing propperly when moved and are getting seethrough. Also no video on DVD playback!!!

Any one knows if there are any better drivers for Nvidia mobile 7xxxx graphic cards?

I want to use the system to contiune FCP Editing at home!

Any help is highly welcome! :thumbsdown_anim:

Big thanks to uphuck and the whole Turk team! Here are my system specs and whats working and whats not.

Dell Latitude D610

Intel Pentium M 2.0Ghz (SpeedStep)

2GB DDR-2 PC2-4200

Intel 915GM Graphics Chipset

Broadcom 57xx Gigabit Ethernet

Dell Wireless 1470 Dual Band WLAN Mini-PCI card (Broadcom 4318 chipset)

Sigmatel C-Major Audio (Sigmatel 9751)

USB 2.0

This is whats working so far:

Installed Intel 900GM Driver, Video works right out of the box but a second monitor needs to be connected. Im using the 2 wire dongle method as of now and I'm having no problems.

WiFi works. At first my mini-pci card wasn't being recognized in the system profiler. My WiFi uses the Broadcom 4318 chipset but Dev ID is 4319. I followed this tutorial http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=23684 and everything works great.

Sound is working slightly. It skips alot, basiclly its unusable. My sound card doesn't show up in system profiler but sound does come out. This is an issue I am still trying to resolve. All usb ports are recognized and work. As for Ethernet, its not working at the moment. I followed a few tutorials for the Broadcom 57xx ethernet controller but all it does is mess with my wifi so at the moment I am not going to worry about it that much since my WiFi works fine. If anyone can help me with resolving my Audio and Ethernet problems please let me know. Heres what I have.

Audio:

Sigmatel C-Major Audio (Sigmatel 9751)

Dev ID:PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_266E&SUBSYS_01821028&REV_03&61AAA01&0&F2

Ethernet:

Broadcom NetXtreme 57xx Gigabit Ethernet Controller

Dev ID:PCI\VEN_14E4&DEV_1677&SUBSYS_01821028&REV_01\4&2959CBDC&0&00E0

Hope this helps some people out.

have to agree, usenet (usenext ) is so much less trouble, even if you need to pay for access,....

not tried yet,... thought ext3 and ntfs , looks promissing,

one thing I'd like to request, is for the default vesa graphics support, to include

1280x1024

1680x1050

1600x1200

1440x900

1280x800

is that in the somewhere in the pbootlist ?

that way , when the graphic is screwed, it's at least usable,...

others, any workaround for intel gma x3100

include muse for ntfs read write, if not already included,

and some remote desktop aka vnc, to be able to remote to linux,

maybe make a seperate, apps base collection,

firefox, camino, thunderbird, openoffice, X11,java, firefox plugins,

gimp, ccc, superduper, vnc, etc,... aka linux starter pack,...

oh, uphuck it down ??

Slightly on topic...

I just wanted to say an immense "Thank You!" to whoever posted this on usenet.I can't even begin to say how I HATE torrents!

. . . I've installed 1.4iRev3 to a P5WDH: you need to disable the jmicron controller in the BIOS before installation.

1.4iRev3 recognises/identifies the ICH7R SATA ports [i checked 'SATA support' in the installer], & :) auto-installed support for the Marvell onboard NICs [i checked nothing under 'Networking' during the install]

Speedstep appears not to properly install, tho' idle temps are recorded at some 7C below a JaS 10.4.8 install [this seems to be through a better basic HLT implementation].

Frontrow installed & works fine; am now trying to find/install the packages for mail, iSync, & Dictionary [i use all of these]

For onboard sound you'll need the ALC883 pkg [gives line in/out & SP/DIF] from here

Managed to get the jmicron 363 SATA ports listed by using the "gigabyte_ds3-4pack.1.2.dmg" then re-enabling the device in the BIOS - but unsure this is the right way to go about it: now all 6 SATA ports are listed as the same kind of generic AHCI [previosuly the 4x Intel ports were listed as ICH7R].

1.4iR3 appears to work well & was relatively hassle-free to install - many thanks to Uphuck & his team.

Obviously the big hassle with this & other common hardware is the jmicron 36x . . . unlikely [given the similar hassles in Linux] to be resolved until there's proper kernel-level support for the dratted thing.

Thanks for the heads up on the disabling first!

Quick question since you got your ASUS p5b working,

After installation, I watched it boot in f8 and -v and it all went fine (thanks to your tip)

until it just hangs and stalls at the blue screen, no pinweel nada..

Any suggestions or links i can read away at?

. . . I stated my motherboard was P5WDH [i975X chipset], not a P5B [i965].

Installation to the P5B can be a hassle; for an example see this recent thread, then read the relevant section of the (latest) 10.4.8 HCL, then use the search function of these forums for further advice & firsthand experiences.

Lack of drivers for SiliconImage SATA card

My problem is I have one of the unsupported NForce4 SATA controllers on my motherboard. I got around that by buying a SiliconImage 3132 PCIe SATA controller. But when I boot from the DVD it doesn't see my disks. I guess I should create a 2nd DVD that has the kernel extension on it and kextload it from the terminal before continuing but it would be nice if the DVD had drivers on it for common controllers like Silicon Image already.

Just a thought for the next release

Thanks for all your hard work on these releases!

I installed this this on a Dell Optiplex 270 with onboard NIC (intel Pro 100ve), video (intel 864G) realtek AC97 sound, on JaS 10.4.8 everything worked but no CI or QE on the 865G but a resolution of 1024x768.

On the Uphuck install the system seems very fast for what it is and I have had about 4 different Mac installs in this box testing, this one was a very easy install (over a copy of JaS 10.4.8) I also liked the custom menus and other little added features of the install as well as the about this computer fix that I needed to install (that was on the disk) Great work uphuck!!!! 1000 thank yous to you!

with the uphuck 1.4i R3 install I can't the onboard NIC working (dropped in a realtek 8139 and used uphucks drivers)

problem two: uphuck 1.4i R3 will not find a DVD-RW I tried a NEC DVD-RW I used in other hackintosh projects that worked great with Patchburn, but patchburn can't find the drive because the system profiler says there is no dvd or cd burning device installed. I put 100% mac compatible Pioneer DVD-RW that I used in other Hackintosh projects that works with no patching and uphucks 1.4i R3 won't find that drive either. Am I doing something wrong here?

Last but not least the 865G video has no CI or QE

My IDE DVD-RW shows: "Burn Support: Yes(Unsupported)" ??; haven't tried burning a disc yet.

Try patchburn as long as mac sees the drive patchburn will make it 100% Mac compatible, you can burn with a burn folder or even from iTunes with patchburn, as well as toast and other burning programs

go to www.patchburn.de

THX uphuck for offering OSX to us intel users! :( I need some advice regarding wich box to tick during installation. My notebook system:CPU: Pentium M GPU: Nvidia 7800 GTX Chipset: ICH6 915PM HD: PATASound: Realtek HD (Intel Azalia)Net: Marvel Yukon 88E8053 Atheros W-LanSo what i would choose from the list is:Nvidia MobileUSB DriverPs/2 driverAzalia AudioPower ManagementIntel Speedstep IONetworkingFamily.kextMarvel youkon 88E8001Temperature MonitorWhat is nonsense and what do i have to add (also from the patches and app list, what is usefull)P.S.: I mainly want the system for FinalCutPro!Thank you very much in advance for helping an osx noob out!

install the basic system first, then if you get a panic or something don't work go back and install each driver that is for your system one at a time until you see what it takes to get the system working or what crashes system. Also if your system crashes on the first try read the boot screen and see what caused the crash and see if there are patches or app to fix the problem on Uphucks disk. good luck.
