bluenote56
10 hours ago, arsradu said: Guys, this past couple of days have been really challenging for me, with Tahoe and all that. And...unfortunately, it kinda did some damage on my current Sequoia installation, even though it was installed on a separate partition. I kept running into black screens, no matter what I do. I even reverted everything to the old versions of OC and kexts, and STILL got the same issue. The only way I was able to boot into the os was after a fresh clean nvram. So something was really f-ed up there. In the end, I wiped the Tahoe partition, thinking it might fix it somehow. It didn't. I thought maybe the config was somehow corrupted or so, so I reverted to the backup one. Nope. Same issue. It was getting frustrating because I didn't know what the hell was going on! So, what I did, and what I would recommend you do, too, in case you come to this issue, is reinstall Sequoia from Recovery. No need for wipe, just use the Reinstall option from recovery. That (finally!) fixed it for me. Also, another frustrating fact was that OCLP was complaining that my SIP was enabled and SecureBootModel was set to Default instead of Disabled (they were not). And OpenCoreConfigurator was complaining that: "The bootloader looks like it is not installed or your NVRAM isn't native". Both issues have been fixed, thankfully, with that reinstall. So yeah, quite a roller coaster. Personally I'll be waiting for some updates from Apple before I give it another try. I'm not giving up. Just giving it time. Same thing happend here with my Sequoia on a separate ssd. I fixed it booting Sequoia from another ssd with Clover. I could run OCLP again. I don't know why and at the probably 40th attempt for Tahoe I'll not investigate. I'm torn between giving up and keep on trying. After all it's just a 9600k /Kepler build and I saw someone succeeded in installing. 1 Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/361162-pre-release-macos-tahoe/page/31/#findComment-2833878 Share on other sites

kgp
A bit older but still not dead when talking about myself or my X299 system 🙂.. Following the actual USB discussion along this [pre-release] macOS Tahoe thread, I could not resist in actively returning to InsanelyMac to contribute to the ongoing discussion. With up-to-date Lilu.kext, Lilu-Family-kexts and latest opencore 1.0.5 release from https://dortania.github.io/builds/?product=OpenCorePkg&viewall=true, I was able to make a clean install of macOS Tahoe without further issues. Now to the reason of this post: My USB-Kext for the X299 Sage 10G created in 2018 (KGP-MacPro-ASUS-WSX299S10G-XHCI.kext attached below) worked asap with macOS Tahoe without any issues or modifications. My USB kext however is somewhat different from those published along [pre-release] macOS Tahoe. I guess the important difference from other USB-kexts published along this [pre-release] macOS Tahoe thread are the AppleUSBXHCISTB details, which are crucial for implementing the correct XHCI controller and driver. For testing purposes, I also added the two proposed lines at to each port entry (KGP-MacPro-ASUS-WSX299S10G-XHCI-Tahoe.kextattached below) without achieving any difference in kext or system USB functionality/performance: Same result with both kexts: For anybody interested in more details, for sure there is still my „usb kext creation guideline“ (originally proposed by brumbaer) around in this forum or the other forum that I cannot link here, where all important steps are outlined. Google is your friend, if you want to find it. Else, macOS 26 is up and running on my X299 System well known to most of you from the past: Geekbench: Cinebench: Last but not least, I also share my actual EFI-Folder working with Sequoia and Tahoe. It is still somewhat build specific, although the respective ACPI configuration is mostly disabled. However, SmallTreeIntel8259x.kext, KGP-MacPro-ASUS-WSX299S10G-XHCI.kext, RadeonBoost.kext and other build specific kexts are still enabled. To be able to upload the EFI here, I also deleted IO80211FamilyLegacy.kext and IOSkywalkFamily.kext, which I use under Sequoia together with the OCLP Broadcom root patch, as well as everything under Resources/Audio. For further information concerning the EFI setup see my installation guideline, which was however for Clover and macOS Mojave and therefore is partly outdated. jlrycm
Hey there guys. I decided to start the adventure of installing the macOS Tahoe DB1 and after some initial hiccups that I addressed by removing the pikera boot arg, disabling whatevergreen and any other intel Bluetooth kexts I forgot to initially disable, the installation continued until the screen went dark. The drive is active because I see the case light blinking. I remember reading here that this dark screen could happen but that after a while it will be done and will eventually load the desktop. I’m wondering how much time this dark screen phase is lasting for some of you and when should I press the restart button and troubleshoot. Update: the dark screen finished and after turning off and on the monitor, voila the macOS Tahoe desktop and final steps showed up. The FileVault was auto enabled which is something I was expecting based on the forum posts. Intel Wifi (itlwm + heliport) is working and USB mapping is working as well since I manually updated the UTBMAp.kext adding the new format for each USB port I have enabled in the kext. I’ll enable the intel Bluetooth kexts now and reboot. Hi eSaF I did a search for you on how to recover your key. Hope this helps. https://support.apple.com/en-al/guide/mac-help/mh35881/mac i also found this :- Turn off FileVault on Mac If you have a Mac with Apple silicon or an Apple T2 Security Chip, your data is encrypted automatically. FileVault provides further protection by requiring your login password to access your data. Turning off FileVault removes that extra layer of protection. Choose Apple menu > System Settings, click Privacy & Security in the sidebar, then click FileVault. (You may need to scroll down.) Click Turn Off. Click Turn Off Encryption. jm26200
some brief news... Motherboard: The Foundation For the Sweet Spot (Intel): A high-quality Z490 or Z590 motherboard is the gold standard. Brands like Gigabyte (Designare, Aorus) and ASUS (ProArt, ROG Strix) are well-documented and offer the stability needed for a final build. For the Enthusiast’s Choice (Intel): Z690 and Z790 motherboards are necessary for newer CPUs. Ensure the board has a compatible Intel I225-V or I226-V Ethernet controller. For the AMD Path: B650E or X870E motherboards are excellent choices, offering the latest connectivity like USB4. Key Feature – Wi-Fi: No motherboard’s built-in Wi-Fi/Bluetooth will work out of the box. You must either disable it and use a PCIe card or replace the onboard M.2 module with a compatible Broadcom one. Fenvi cards (like the T919) are plug-and-play favorites. have now wifi with heliport 2 Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/361162-pre-release-macos-tahoe/page/31/#findComment-2833910 Share on other sites
