Max.1974
My Lenovo T14 is fully set up, and I managed to install everything from scratch and via OTA, using my EFI below. For anyone who wants to compare, I owe the successful installation to the details of each carefully edited SSDT, with the help of many GitHub tutorials, especially regarding the Thunderbolt ports. Since this setup is quite unique and took me many months to prepare, it would be difficult to explain step by step. The EFI is available, and not everyone can reach this level—so if you're trying it on desktops, you might get good results. My Lenovo even got to the point of encrypting the NVMe, but right after boot, I disabled FileVault. Here my EFI Works on Tahoe Beta 1 and 2 from off line installer or OTA. Sergey_Galan
30 minutes ago, eSaF said: The attached EFI Folder boots Sonoma, Sequoia and now Tahoe fluidly. This Folder was initially successfully built for a clean install for the first Tahoe Beta (after much fafffing around as Apple removed support for the RX4 and 5xxx Cards. Consequently the EFI Folder was built with the UHD 630 Graphics taking the RX580 offline which was successfull. As reported, in the second released Tahoe Beta, Apple included the returned use of the RX Cards, so all that was needed was to reverse all UHD 630 Settings both in the BIOS and EFI Folder which worked out quite well. Now here is where it all gets weird, the same converted EFI Folder (back to RX580 use) is near enough impossible to build an Installation USB drive for Beta 2. I defy anyone to tell/show me different, yes they have been a few claims of successful fresh builds with RX66xx Cards, as I don't own one, I cannot refute the claims but my own experience is with RX5xx. I have tried every which way, plus suggestions here in the open Forum and P/M which I am grateful for but none came to successful results. In conclusion the only way is to fresh install Beta 1 and then Update to Beta 2 with an RX5xx Card. I will see what change the next release brings before I test again. kgp
EFI-Folder-Distribution Below the link to my universal EFI-Folder for all recent versions of macOS (also works with Sequoia and Tahoe) with focus on X299 and SMBIOS macPro7,1. Please add/delete or enable/disable all system specific kexts for your build in EFI/OCI/Kexts and config.plist -> Kernel -> Add . As an already implemented option, you can choose between IntelLucy.kext or SmallTreeIntel8259x.kext (for Tahoe only use SmallTreeIntel8259x-KGP-Tahoe.kext) for your NICs (Ethernet), by enabling/disabling the latter in config.plist -> Kernel -> Add. Boot the Tahoe installers with Whatvergreen.kext disabled and reenable Whatvergreen.kext subsequently to the macOS installation/update, if deemed necessary despite proposed macPro7,1 SMBIOS. Complete your SMBIOS credentials with Opencore Configurator (OCC) and use your own USB-Mapping-Kext before booting with this EFI. If you don't have any, follow my XHC USB Kext Creation Guideline (sorry, this guideline is not in any other forum). For the adaptation of SSDTs and ACPI-patches in EFI/OC/ACPI, config.plist->ACPI -> Add and config.plist->ACPI -> Patch (by default everything disabled), see my else partly outdated installation guide for Mojave. Good luck 👍 InsanelyMac/Bootloaders: EFI-KGP-public-v1.1.0.zip Edited June 26, 2025 by KGP-iMacPro Changing attachment to linked EFI-Folder version on InsanelyMac/Bootloaders 8 Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/361162-pre-release-macos-tahoe/page/59/#findComment-2834922 Share on other sites

The major difference from DB1 is loss of audio due to absence of AppleHDA.kext, fixed by installing VoodooHDA.kext in /Library/Extensions folder following @Slices instructions here. DB2 is also quite happy outputting audio to USB audio devices eg my cheap QCY H3 headphones can be connected to the computer via USB C to A cable. I toggled SIP off from the OC boot menu before manually installing the VoodooHDA kext using the sudo command. Besides requiring SIP to be disabled, VoodooHDA works nicely for audio output through the headphone jack. Unfortunately, I did not have any luck with Intel HDMI audio, even though HDMI appears as an option using VoodooHDA. To avoid any conflict between AppleALC and VoodooHDA while booting Tahoe, I set MaxKernel for AppleALC injection in OC config.plist/Kernel/Add at 24.99.99 (macOS Sequoia). FileVault on my system was already off before the upgrade and did not get turned on automatically during the upgrade process (don't know why some systems are and why some aren't). Spoiler 23 hours ago, kaoskinkae said: To mount EFIs, I've always used "ESP Mounter Pro," which is quick and easy, and I've translated it into my native language. I don't like using OpenConfigurator, and I find it somewhat cumbersome. But with Tahoe, I haven't been able to get it to work correctly in beta 1 and beta 2 I use EFI Agent by @benbaker76 for mounting/unmounting EFI partitions ---> still works in Tahoe DB1 and DB2 (same author for hackintool)...
