Well the mystery deepens. At the moment I have an EFI Folder that boots Sonoma, Sequoia and Tahoe from this single EFI.

To me logic dictates that this same EFI should be able to assist in the creation of a USB installation drive.

The machine is back to the RX580 configuration booting and running all 3 Mac versions trouble free.

So why in the name of all things hackable, does it fail at 'KeyLog: Loading Pageable KC From File S/L/Kernel Collecting/BaseSystemkernelExtensions.KC'

I tried the lilu.kext uploaded with no difference apart from decorating my monitor screen with fancy purple lines that was last seen in Big Sur.

Please don't post suggestions to try this or that I'm done trying until the next Beta. I have aged 10 fold since the introduction of Tahoe.

Before Tahoe I was 99% certain of building a USB Installation drive without the drama.

This one has taken the wind out of my sails and confidence.

Install with WG disabled and also try disabling integrated graphics in BIOS. After installation, turn everything back on.

Yea I know I said I am done trying but the stubborn streak in me will prevail in the end.

It is either that or I'm going to end up on the floor in the foetal position quietly sobbing.

Its the last Hackintosh OS so it has to give us headaches. Make us work hard for our pleasure :hyper::wallbash::blowup:

Has anyone had any success clean installing Beta 2?

I am testing but keeps failing, I can only clean install Beta 1 then Update to Beta 2.

I am trying to understand why that is happening even though I am using the same EFI Folder I did for Beta 1.

I did clean install beta2 on z390, RX 6600 XT, but used minimal kexts and NootRX.kext instead Whatevergreen.kext.

@eSaF

Everything is running smoothly here with a clean Tahoe B2 installation, I'm writing from there
I went to get a coffee on the way back and it was on the language selection screen

Nothing to report  , except a goal by Messi on a free kick in the 24th minute  :hysterical:

Jokes aside, in that position (24th minute) it's been a while, I was about to force a reboot... so wait

One thing I've never tried is data migration
I did it , after completing it, it reboots again and again, showing the screen

"data migration is complete...restart the PC"

I exited by pressing the power button, and a pop-up appeared asking if I wanted to interrupt the migration and resume it later... obviously I accepted and got to Desktop

... but I think this is more of an Apple bug

Spoiler

I did a clean but the Clover EFI from beta one didn't install...i had to install using with another opencore EFI, then after installation change to @Anto65 clover EFI and it worked.

I had the same with Data migration, constant reboots so must be a bug.

Well, okay then:  Beta 2 has been installed.  Audio remained good

However, there were a few surprises:  The first reboot, the system loaded, but not with Beta 2, Beta 1.  It didn't finish properly, so I had to install again, and that didn't finish either.  The next reboot, I tried to login, but I just got the spinning beach ball.  Another two reboots, finally, I was able to login and get to the desktop, which was all still there (from Beta 1).

Disk Utility is totally useless - it will load, but not complete and stay at spinning beach ball state forever.  I actually turned off the monitor and waited 30 minutes to see if it would complete and when I came back and turned on the monitor, it was still useless, still with the spinning beach ball.  Tried rebooting and multiple other ways to fix it and I couldn't and finally just gave up.  Every thing else was working, sort of.

On the overall, this upgrade did not make things better.  The system was very much slower to respond and nothing seemed "snappy".  I was hoping, as I think many of you were, that B2 would make things better, not worse.

Oh well......patience is required with this release.

On a good note and a big surprise to see @KGP-iMacPro is back!  @KGP-iMacPro, you might remember me as mm2margaret.....its been a while.......good to see you back!

Anybody else with this problem? Photo.app of Beta 2 crashes on edit...

Btw.. SmallTreeIntel8259x-KGP-Tahoe.kext still working with Tahoe Beta 2. Alternative solution with IntelLucy.kext still with problems despite dmar.aml and correct vt-d settings.

I also recently implemented a further alternative solution with Intel AX210 Wifi,  itlwm.kext and Heliport, thanks to the help and instructions of @Max.1974  👍

I just spent a solid hour faffing around trying to clean install Beta2.

My conclusion is I cannot do it with the RX580 as the main GPU.

I tried a clean install of Beta2. My installation attempts with Rx590 or Rx6600xt failed. When I used the internal graphics, all the problems disappeared. After the installation, both external graphics worked without any problems. And the EFI I used opened all three versions.

Teaho is really messing with the Hackintosh T2 chip nation big times, first it was no audio in Apple Music streaming and now they've stripped away the AppleHDA.kext. They want us to party without music in our Hackintosh farewell dance 😂

To resolve the streaming music with no audio issue, I had to turn my laptop into a MacPro (since it is not using the Terminator 2 chip) and I can enjoy music before beta 3 comes with another bomb 🤣

Same here.

I've tested it on 6 different setup's here, and all of them worked to upgrade from Beta 1 to Beta 2 without any problems.

However, if I create the offline installer, it crashes in the first stage, after selecting the installation disk after formatting it in APFS.

In fact, I've seen other people reporting the same behavior and it seems that no one has figured it out yet.

I tried doing a clean install using the Tahoe Beta 2 Recovery (and not the full installer) and it didn't crash in the first stage, it completed successfully and did the various expected reboots, but I'm still doing some more testing.

🤯🤯🤯🤯

I remember that in the Beta of some previous macOS (Sequoia, Sonoma or Ventura) the installer had been messed up by Apple but it was fixed in the later beta... maybe it's something similar, anything is possible with beta versions.

Btw.. SmallTreeIntel8259x and modified SmallTreeIntel8259x are now completely broken on Beta 2. Immediate KP after login. I have to retake my fight with IntelLucy.kext, dmar.aml and vt-d...

Regarding Ethernet issues:

So, not sure if this will help, but if you have a 10G USB-C port and it's working, you might want to try this:  https://www.newegg.com/wavlink-uhp505-usb/p/0J2-008P-000B2?Item=9SIA6PFKD05613.

Don't know if you can get it where you are, but on my system, its been bullet-proof - and, it's pretty fast.  5G is not 10G, but still, 5G is not bad, and because it's so easy to use and seems to work in any Mac computer, for me it's been a life saver at times. It's worked on Ventura, Sonoma, Sequoia and Tahoe without any hickups or interruptions in service - Hack or native Mac  They have drivers on their website, but I never bothered to install them because it just worked - but you should probably download the drivers, just in case, if you decide to pursue this option

Just a thought.....

Oops....I forgot:  This adapter works on Linux and Windows too!  (Windows did need the drivers, but Macs and Linux did not)

Hi guys, good night to all,

I managed to finally install Tahoe Beta 2 a fresh install, downloaded the full installer, from a link posted in this thread, and grabbed an general EFI from the olarila forum, thanks one more time @MaLd0n, and managed to install it at the first time, without any reboot or difficulty and with RX570 enabled, and using an DP cable.

The only thing that don't work are sound, and at the moment I don't have internet or wifi.
