Fantastic  thanks . I've been using it since you posted it

I honestly abandoned Esp Mounter since I find myself in
" Background App Activity "

I assume it's nothing harmful, but it makes me turn up my nose a little   💁‍♂️

A response to our emotional colleague, a fervent supporter of VoodooHDA.

AppleALC vs VoodooHDA

1. Technical design differences
| Aspect                                                            | AppleALC + AppleHDA                                            | VoodooHDA                                       |

| Driver base                                                     | Native AppleHDA with codec-specific patches    | Port of the old OSS driver from BSD |
| Hardware routing (pin widgets, DSP paths) | Fully used                                                                 | Largely bypassed or simplified         |
| Power management, EAPD, gain tables        | Supported                                                                 | Partially or not supported                 |

2. Community evidence
Threads on InsanelyMac, Reddit r/hackintosh, olarila, etc. consistently report background noise, distorted mic input, broken 5.1/7.1, random pops when using VoodooHDA.

3. Missing hardware features
AppleHDA (when driven by AppleALC) exposes:

- Automatic jack sensing and port switching

- Hardware-based noise suppression / beam-forming on some codecs

- Proper HDMI/DP audio hand-off

VoodooHDA lacks or emulates most of these, further degrading real-world performance.

4. Informal blind tests
Enthusiasts have run ABX tests:

Same hardware, same lossless audio files.

Output captured through loopback or external recorder.

Participants identify the source; VoodooHDA samples are frequently judged “muffled” or “harsh,” especially on headphones.

So, even without peer-reviewed studies, the technical limitations of VoodooHDA, widespread user reports, and repeatable informal tests collectively demonstrate that AppleALC + AppleHDA delivers measurably and audibly better audio quality on Hackintosh systems.

However, VoodooHDA can still be considered a temporary or fallback solution in cases where:

AppleALC does not support a particular audio codec, proper layout-id injection fails, or patched AppleHDA output remains non-functional. In such scenarios, VoodooHDA offers a way to get basic audio working until a more robust AppleALC-based setup can be achieved.

Hi my friend @Anto65 here all doing fine but I prepare a little command line to generate installer and I saw you are using your Laptop. I installing now on my Lenovo and will back soon with answer.

My Desktop is ok! I get sound for now, but If you can, need compile your VoodooHDA.kext

I have patcher to install almost automatic but my kext is for Desktop. If you run command it's all right too. But if you want, just run like video. But change kext for yours.

VodooHDA-Instalador.zip 20.76 MB · 5 downloads

Thanks dear Max, either from the terminal or the automated procedure you proposed, it does not change the result i have  everything enabled as in the images I attached before ... but there is no musical band that plays 🙂
I also tried before to put some rename in ACPI ... nothing, patience we will survive this too ... we wait , Thx again

I'm joining late. Very busy these days with my daughter's accident, not so serious but I have less free time.

I've updated to beta version 2, MacPro 7.1 and the usual boot arg.

Observations:

- FileVault enabled by default, disabled immediately, I'm surprised by this feature on Apple's part.

- No audio due to the lack of AppleHDA.

- RX 6600 XT works well but the fans frequently turn on, which doesn't happen on any of the previous systems.

Otherwise, I haven't seen anything unusual.

I'm in the process of unifying the EFI folder for root-patched Sequoia and Tahoe. To simplify things, I've left out the Sequoia Wi-Fi kexts. Without them, I've already created a common EFI that boots both systems thanks to the help of @eSaF and @Anto65.

Later, I'll try adding the Wi-Fi kexts with @eSaF's maxkernel and minkernel tweaks.

Although I haven't commented much, I'm following the entire thread with great interest, and I send my thanks to all of you who are posting. It's impressive how much knowledge is published in such a short time.

Thanks, friends!

Stop everyone!
The band had gone to get a coffee  😂 ... and came back to play

I tried with the audio output on the back of the case where I have the headphones connected to the wireless receiver and it didn't work ... (I have to change the frequency or something)

I connected the headphones to the front jack ... and boom 🎵   🎼  :guitar:  🎶    🎼

Also fixed the output on the back with my headphones and wireless receiver   🤙

Of course  @mick3lson  with pleasure !!

Im generate other SMBIOS you can use it normally or change by yours

Thx, unfortunately without the binaries (probably inside a KernelCollection), it is not that useful on its own.

I wasn’t sure if it would be useful or not but thought it might help as I was still on Beta 1, still am until I figure out what’s wrong. Gets stuck at deferred matching count 3.

Sounds works with voodoo hda kext thanks to Slice work.

Hi people, I would like to say that I noticed a spectacular function in the Tahoe. If I copy a photo or link on the iPhone or Desktop with Broadcom Bluetooth it pastes from my phone to the desktop and vice versa, I thought this was cool!! Oh, does this happen to some of you? And we still have LocalSend but I don't have anything installed. I just saw this!! Wow!!

🤣;):guitar:

Hi , When a new theme 🤙

A new theme? Apple even went retro to the Windows Vista Aero days. But now they're parading it as the most innovative discovery of the century, even calling it 'Liquefied Petroleum Gas'.. LoL 🤣

I don't know if you understood well or I explained myself badly,
I meant when do you make a new theme for clover? 🙂

Oh, got it. But I no longer remember when I last booted Clover

Well, while the audio problem is not solved, I remembered that years ago I bought two of these for a PC with Proxmox and several virtual machines that were only used for a few months...

I searched through the drawers and found them... They work plug & play in Tahoe.😃

To mount EFIs, I've always used "ESP Mounter Pro," which is quick and easy, and I've translated it into my native language. I don't like using OpenConfigurator, and I find it somewhat cumbersome. But with Tahoe, I haven't been able to get it to work correctly in beta 1 and beta 2, which were released yesterday. Is there any program that works the same way to quickly open our EFIs? By the way, in beta 2, the EFIs appear colorfully, reminiscent of Linux Mint.

I haven't found anything equivalent and so easy to use ...
