HenryV
Smooth update from b1-b2 with exception of a KP hiccup (clover 5137) while rebooting during the incremental update/install. Switch to Open Core to complete update/install and no further problems booting with clover. Has anyone noticed that running "sudo purge" in beta 2 frees up approximately 500 to 800 plus megabytes of RAM, even after a clean boot without opening any apps? Is anyone running Monterey with swap disabled and min 8 GIGS RAM without issues? No issues with brew, ntfs-3g, macFUSE 4.20 beta, ext RW after update/install. AirportItlwm for intel wifi functions after update. Verbose boot shows large number of scrolling lines indicating "private". Have fruity engineers cordoned off part of the kernel for digital rights management? Booting up repeatedly from MacintoshHD did not do anything and booting from the drive with Monterey on it just took me back to beta 1. Mid-installation, I switched from OC to Clover, booted up to MacintoshHD, allowed it to install completely and upon reboot, MacintoshHD was gone from the Clover menu and the installation completed successfully booting to my Monterey partition (taking 2 reboots to complete). Interestingly, installing to HP laptop also took alternating between clover and OC to finish install/update of beta2. clover reboots-->KP-->switch to OC to finish-->back to clover and boot without issues Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/348725-pre-release-macos-monterey/page/26/#findComment-2761927 Share on other sites
Avery B
I ended up disabling AppleSecureBoot and reinstalling Beta 1 overtop. I was able to upgrade from there without issue, and reenabled AppleSecureBoot (with ApECID) afterwards with no issues. This was on my X1 Extreme, I haven't tried Monterey on my M4700 yet but it should theoretically work since it doesn't use the iGPU Edit: I've seen some people in other places have luck with disabling AppleSecureBoot and then re-downloading the update in the Software Center (not just booting the installer volume again). I unfortunately forgot to try that, so perhaps my reinstalling Beta 1 overtop was not necessary. Edit 2: Looks like they fixed bluetoothd attaching to my USB camera lol Edited June 30, 2021 by 1Revenger1 1 Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/348725-pre-release-macos-monterey/page/26/#findComment-2761935 Share on other sites

Several kexts need new patches to make them working again in Monterey such as FakePCIID, ApplePCIIDE, and so on. We need patience to wait for them coming as soon as possible ! 2 Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/348725-pre-release-macos-monterey/page/26/#findComment-2761949 Share on other sites

silencer51
Finally got around to doing a fresh install of Monterey on my T480 hackintosh. Install went fine - but upgrading to beta 2 required the latest build of OC and SecureBootModel set to Disabled instead of Default. Afterwards it proceeded normally - before I'd just get a reboot during the first step of the installation. Bluetooth works fine with Dell DW1830 wifi+bt card and latest BrcmPatchRAM + BlueToolFixup. TrustAugustus
18,3 SMBIOS 7700k with rx580. I am in the dev beta 2 would install and (I assume) crash out of the installer and then boot into the disk with "installing X minutes remaining. It would then load into the OS without having updated camp... :/ only solution was to fresh install. I downloaded the install package and it appeared to create a new recovery, from that I resintalled the Dev beta 2. Finally... Betas are Betas for a reason ;) Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/348725-pre-release-macos-monterey/page/26/#findComment-2761978 Share on other sites
Henties
Upgraded my Comet Lake build (Intel Core i9-10850K, GA-Z490 Vision G, AMD Radeon RX 6800 XT) from Monterey preview to beta 2 without any hiccups whatsoever. The only operational problem that remains to be resolved is the malfunctioning of the onboard Intel Ethernet-Controller I225-V. Would appreciate to be notified should somebody manage to get this controller working, I am also currently putting my mind to finding a possible solution and will report back as soon as some progress has been achieved. Same for me, I wonder if there is any attribute to set on the Windows partitions to make them recognised as internal in macOS. EDIT: Actually, this must be a bug. If you type "diskutil list" in the terminal, without the quotes, you can see the windows partitions are internal physical partitions, and still finder thinks they are external. See the image below, it is an example of my Windows disk. Henties
I don't understand the hackintosh world anymore when reading about problems that users, on this forum, are experiencing with upgrading to Monterery, I am presently successfuly running 4 diverse hackintosh iterations and with none of them did I experience any problems at all with upgrading to Monterey beta 2. What is going on and what are the causes of these, to me at least, inexplicable upgrade problems ???
