2. once you have done that unlock CFG (read twice and follow the steps carefully and your be fine)

What steps are these if you don't mind? I have the Pro Wi-Fi so I can't use the BIOS profile linked in the main post. In fact, only people with exactly that MB can use it. Would be amazing if we could get the steps for those on slightly different Aorus variants.

That’s correct, this guide is meant for the z390 Pro only I cant give you the correct bios and bios profile as I do not use the pro WiFi board. You can download the latest bios from gigabytes website for yourself and you will need a custom dsdt made too. Mine will work but is not totally correct for your board.
sorry I can’t help further.

I tried multiple permutations and still nothing.

Attached is a photo of the Dell U2715H after waiting 5-ish minutes connected with an HDMI 2.0 cable as well as using a Display Port cable. I also tried with an Asus 27" (HDMI and DP). In the top left of the photo you can see the installer window.

If I connect them both at once, one of the monitors (the secondary I presume) becomes full tennis field while the other doesn't change.

The peculiar thing is that I tried to keyboard-navigate the installation procedure, even though the screen was garbled.

The first screen is the language selection, and I can tab-continue.

The screen after (the one pictured in the attachment) is the "macOS Utilites". If I try to select the second option, by pressing down-arrow and tab-space, the installer does not continue but hangs in place. Maybe a modal pops-up that I cannot see, but I tried waiting for 15 minutes and nothing happened.

Tomorrow I think I may try removing the 5700xt and installing using just the integrated GPU, and after I've successfully installed I'll have an easier time integrating the discrete card.

[ screenshot removed ]

I was having the exact same issue with my 5700xt running 15.1.x.

Try using Catalina 15.2 beta 3 instead.  Here's the link to download it from the app store after opting in for the beta profile: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/macos-catalina-beta/id1455661060?mt=12

With that version, I'm able to get past the garbled green screen (and on to the next problem...)

Friends, I'm having an issue with internet connectivity during the install.

I'm using a Z390 Aorus Pro with the on-board ethernet -- no card.

I've added IntelMausi, as well as VirtualSMC and SMCSuperIO.  However, when I attempt to run the "Install macOS Catalina Beta" from the preboot environment I get "An Internet connection is required to install macOS."

Similarly, if I go into Network Utility I get... nothing?

image.png.fe9d01bb0433efb98ec0fb3d2d0e2140.png

The cable which is plugged in does in fact have internet access, and from BIOS I'm able to see a Mac address.  It does not show up in my router's list of connected devices, which isn't really surprising.

I'm sure that this is something simple, but it's escaping me.  Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Have you got the Gpus right next to each other?

if you do then move one to the bottom pcie slot so they can breathe and keep the side open for now or get some airflow going In the case some how and see if that helps in windows.

ive only just noticed what you have done.

you have the psu connected totally wrong to the Gpus

one cable for one gpu DO NOT USE 1 cable for two Gpus.

its ok too use one cable with both connectors on one gpu but not the way your example is showing.

Thank you @AudioGod

For now i just put out my PSU in my small case, and temps are better

Now windows is working (i need again to lower the core, for now, lets see when I'll get a better airflow with the new case)

Hi Bud, Yes they are but I haven’t updated the thread yet as I’m awaiting on new WEG and Lilu before I update everything.

The new Weg and Lilu were released today, so I tried them out with the new shikigva=16 boot arg to see if that fixed the system crash when loading Netflix on safari, but still get the same crash, oh well. We'll see what AudioGod comes up with on his update with these new tools and SMBIOS recommendations going forward. :D

@gino8080 I think there is something wrong with your setup. When I got to graphics/displays, I only have a single entry for the 560 and nothing else. Is your iGPU enabled as well?

Interesting that the secondary card is still showing up. In my PCI list, I do not have the "display" entry, just the "Radeon RX 560" in my case. If I remove that SSDT, then I do see the additional entry, so you are right that it seems it is not working for you. Our EFI folders are the same as far as files/kexts that are being loaded in there, so I'm not sure what to think.

Are you using the latest DSDT from AudioGod for F10? In my PCI list, I have a "Patched by Mald0n" entry and an "Olarila" entry, which you don't seem to have. I may need to defer this problem to the expertise of AudioGod and others more capable in DSDT/SSDT stuff.

Ok I see what’s going on here.

@gino8080 you need to update your bios to F11 and use the new EFI and tasc edit for it to work for you as @tasc  is using the latest revision of everything and I beleave your still on the older F10 bios and EFI ain’t you?

UPDATE UPDATE AND UPDATE :hammer:

@tasc I will update the EFI and bios settings on the guide tomorrow or the day after. Il do some research about DRM GATE but I think it’s something that Apple need to address because I’ve now seen the same thing on a MacBook Pro running a external gpu via thunderbolt. The plot thickens!!! :help:

@tasc  using the new WEG and Lilu try shikigva=16 and see if that kicks it in for me please?

Already tried that, see previous post: "The new Weg and Lilu were released today, so I tried them out with the new shikigva=16."

Unfortunately, still results in full system freeze on iMacPro1,1.

Yes I'm still on F10 atm

Ok Captain at your orders! :D

so i suppose it's time to update Bios :cry:

I'm just scared of messing my system that is pretty stable!

Is possible in any case to downgrade back to F10 if something goes really bad?

Maybe you guys already know, but I found  very easy to update kexts using Hackintool tools

Just download new kext versions from INSTALLED tab

and Then from TOOLS i just installed selecting them (hacktintool take care of permissions and also unlock catalina partition if needed)

I have a number of questions about hackintosh I’m building that will have similar, but not identical parts to the one that you used.

1. Will I be able to use your provided EFI (AuidoGod Z390 pro EFI RX F11 dsdt)  or do I need a custom one?

2. Will on board ethernet connection work out of box since I don’t need wireless or Bluetooth and am not installing a card.

3. Anything else I need to be aware of in installation with this build beyond the standard instructions in your guide and Glasgood’s tutorial

My hardware build will be:

 Intel I9 9900k

 Gigabyte AORUS Z390 PRO bios rev. F11

 Sapphire Radeon Pulse RX 590 connected to monitor with DisplayPort

 Corsair Vengeance LPX 32GB (4x8GB DDR4 DRAM 3000 MHz C15 Desktop

 Corsair RM850x 80 Plus Gold Power Supply Unit

•be quiet! BK024 Dark Rock Slim, CPU Cooler, 180w TDP, silent wings 3 120mm PWM fan

 Samsung 970 EVO 1TB NVMe SSD macOS Catalina

 NZXT H510 Elite Case

No wireless or Bluetooth card

Differences from yours:

Graphic card: Sapphire Radeon Pulse RX 590 instead of Sapphire Nitro+ SE Vega5

Memory Corsair Vengeance LPX 32GB (4x8GB DDR4 DRAM 3000 MHz C15) instead of Corsair Vengeance Pro RGB 16GB @3200mhz (2 x 8GB)

CPU Cooler: be quiet! BK024 Dark Rock Slim instead of CoolerMaster MASTERLIQUID ML360R RGB CPU Cooler

No wireless or Bluetooth card instead of ABWB BCM943602CS 802.11AC WI-FI With Bluetooth 4.0 PCI-Express (PCI-E)

No dual boot with windows in second sd right now

Yes that’s all fine, when you download my EFI be sure to download the one meant for RX Gpus and your be golden bud.

Yes, 19,1 with iGPU headless.

Thanks @AudioGod for EFI and explanation!

Testing whole november the same hardware as yours in two configurations - RX590 Nitro+ and Radeon VII.

In both cases i use: Aorus Pro Z390, i7-9700 (0x0705), 32 GB 3200 Kingston DDR4, Bluetooth/Wifi combo card (WTXUP). Thats all.

Clover - 5099, Lilu and WEG updated.

BIOS settings (F11): // Before making changes do the battery trick with CFG Unlock :).

IGPU -> Enabled

DVMT Pre-Aloccated -> 64Mb

DVMT Total Gfx Mem -> Max

Apperture Size -> 512 Gb

Above 4G Decoding -> Enabled

XMP profile -> Enabled // decreased DDR4 to 2666MHz (Fix problem with External USB hub, more native).

Intel Platform Trust -> Disabled

Security Device Support -> Disabled

Erp -> Disabled

RC6 -> Enabled

Clover:

ACPI -> PluginType -> Enabled

CPU -> Type -> 0x0705 // for i7-9700

Devices -> USB -> HighCurrent -> Enable

Devices -> Device properties - AAPL, platform-id -> 0x3e980003

SMBIOS:

iMac19,1 (DRM content not needed for me (Netflix and Safari), TV.app and Apple Services works without problems).

All GPUs acceleration enabled, Sidecar works, Sleep and Deep sleep works like a charm.

Sleep:

1. Remove *.powermanagement*.plist from /Library/Preferences

2. Use "disablehibernation.command" (first post) to set necessary params to 0 and lock sleeimage file.

3. Reboot.

4. Disable "Powernap", "Wake on WIFI" in System Preferences (don't need disable "wake on lan" in BIOS and disable "Put hard disks to sleep when possible")

5. Check Hackintool "Power" section for warnings. Repair if you have needed (promiximity wake for example must be set to 0).

6. Reboot and test.

My conclusion:

1. EFI RX590 Nitro+ - all works without problem, stable, (slide=0 not needed (removed), NVRAM native).

2. EFI Radeon VII EFI - all works without problem, stable, (added slide=0, NVRAM native, if you have other BIOS settings (not as above) - sometimes to able to boot change DVMT Pre-Allocated to 32Mb). Also on the same machine, I use Clover to start Windows 10. When I switch from macOS to Windows 10, I completely shut down computer before (not rebooting) and don't have problems with "slide=0" to boot to macOS.

For my config i little modifying "SSDT-6-A M I.aml" // for testing attached below who need. changed some ports from USB3 to internal, USB2 and USB-C Type.

It would be great to make the most native DSDT for Aorus Pro (I like this simple mobo without unnecessary devices). :)

I see other Mald0n EFI's for Aorus Pro, and his some changes: RTC (like FixRTC), renamed throught DSDT all keys, added in some EFIs Mickey driver propeties), USB injection and others.

A lot of thanks!

SSDT-6-A M I.aml

Hello everyone!

I'm dealing with a sleep issue for a while now.

The problem is that when I put my computer to sleep overnight, it wakes up randomly for a few seconds (leds, fans etc are working but the monitor is not turning on), and then it goes back to sleep. A similar issue could also be found here.

I have disabled wake on lan in bios, I also changed darkwake from 0 to 8 as is suggested in various sources (they suggest to play with values 8, 9 and 10 for desktops), and I also updated clover to v5099 and installed Optional RC Scripts -> Disable sleep proxy client, which was also suggested by a few people who faced similar issue.

Yesterday I put my computer to sleep and left for a few hours, when I returned my computer rebooted - it seems that it crashed, so I had to find out why.

Digging in the logs and reading the logs of latest crash I saw this:

Many sources, including the thread I linked at the beginning of my post, blame USB for that, and they claim that the problem resolved after they got a custom made DSDT. The DSDT I have currently, provided to me by @AudioGod, works fine, but could it be that I have to compile my own for my system?

Thanks a lot!

PS3: In my system, mDNSResponder daemon is running, I saw people in older posts blame discoveryd and mDNSResponder for wakeups, could it be true? Is it running in your systems as well? I'm hesitating to disable it in fear of messing up my DNS or something like that.

IGPU -> Enabled

DVMT Pre-Aloccated -> 64Mb

DVMT Total Gfx Mem -> Max

Apperture Size -> 512 Gb

Above 4G Decoding -> Enabled

XMP profile -> Enabled // decreased DDR4 to 2666MHz (Fix problem with External USB hub, more native).

Intel Platform Trust -> Disabled

Security Device Support -> Disabled

Erp -> Disabled

RC6 -> Enabled

Clover:

ACPI -> PluginType -> Enabled

CPU -> Type -> 0x0705 // for i7-9700

Devices -> USB -> HighCurrent -> Enable

Devices -> Device properties - AAPL, platform-id -> 0x3e980003

SMBIOS:

iMac19,1 (DRM content not needed for me (Netflix and Safari), TV.app and Apple Services works without problems).

It would be great to make the most native DSDT for Aorus Pro. :)

I see other Mald0n EFI's for Aorus Pro, and his some changes: RTC (like FixRTC), renamed throught DSDT all keys, added in some EFIs Mickey driver propeties), USB injection and others.

A lot of thanks!

SSDT-6-A M I.aml

I have the Efi set up for full native USB with no port limits at all with the pro, no edits are needed in any way shape or form to the ssdt. Your welcome to alter but it’s totally pointless and unnecessary bud. Your on a total fruitless lol

use my EFI vanilla with no edits to the ssdt and your get exactly the same results.

Also FixRTC causes issues with shutdown after sleep and that’s the reason why myself and MaLD0n didn’t use it in this dsdt.  Myself Larabee, MaLD0n and a few others have done our best to make a native pro EFI and your never get one that fits all and that’s why I have alternative dsdt for is your using a vega or Rx card etc.
The EFI has been downloaded close to 1000 times now with 99% of people happy (bar the DRMGATE crew that like to blame me for it) so I think your over thinking it bud making changes that are completely pointless but hey if it makes you feel good then who am I to comment lol

It's just for testing only, i want it to be like in the description for the mobo:). Redid while solving the problem with disconnecting the USB hub after sleep. It turned out to be necessary to lower the memory frequency to 2666. Can this be solved differently? Thanks for help.

How strange,

I have 2 usb hubs on my build, one coming off the usb 2 hub and the other coming off the rear usbc and I’ve never had any disconnecting after sleep from them on a pro or master board and I have 32gb of ddr4 @3600mhz and it’s all fine on my end. Hhhmmmm

have you checked your ram to make sure it’s ok using memtestx86?

@AudioGod, I think you misunderstood me mate, no one blamed the EFI you made - for which me and many others are thankful - all I'm saying is that I try to find a way to stop those random wakeups during sleep and so far I haven't found something that would make them stop.

Cheers
