Whoever feels like helping me to boot my native OS x86 10.4.8 install with VMWare (with latest 10.4.8 Kernel from Semthex) can do so here :( . I would like to be convinced that VMWare support really exists.

Thank you,

Bugs.

Hi Bugs :(

I responded to your thread. Hope you can give me some further infos. I can post you my config setting (or additional if you are intrested.

Cany ou tell em which CPU kind you use?

Okay to make life easier i have created a simple script that dumps some core information for semthex [just incase if you are going to help him with debugging] and zips it up

To run this

simply place it in the root of the drive

Launch Terminal and then type

sudo /KernelDebugging.sh

and enter your root password and voila , it should create a zip file = kernel_debugging_for_semthex.zip [its in the root of your drive]

you could send it to semthex via e-mail , IRC , etc

Changelog

0.1 - Initial Release

0.1r - Re-release of it

KernelDebugging.sh.zip

To run this

simply place it in the root of the drive

Launch Terminal and then type

sudo /KernelDebugging.sh

For an easier user experience:

- to allow the user to double-click the file to run it:

--- add sudo -s to the beginning of the script

--- add sudo to the beginning of commands that need it - password will be requested only first time

--- change the filetype of the script from ".sh" to ".command"

- /var/tmp is the standard directory to put temporary files

- make the ioreg command to: "ioreg -lw 0 > /debugging/ioreg.txt" to include all ioreg data

- make the "sysctl" file to "sysctl.txt" so Semthex can more easily open it and read it

- put the zipped file on the Desktop

semthex all Dual Core AMD cpu's have HTT flag enabled (simply little help :)).

Thx lol, I udnerstood it like the CPU was reported as "hyperthreading" (as name) .. would be extremly strange, that'S why I asked about it. :)

Don't mind I saw very strange reports on some dev mods of smbios, my favorite was a Core 2 reported as 486 and a AMD called NexGen (not even meet someone who got a real Negen lol) :(

i just realize that mine, dont show cpu features, even in the booting ... :/

it shows only:

Machine Name: Mac

Machine Model: ACPI

Number Of CPUs: 1

CPU Speed: 2.21 GHz

L2 Cache (per CPU): 512 KB

Memory: 2 GB

Bus Speed: 490 MHz

lol fsb isnt right ...

Semthex works his CPU magic!

Semthex's Beta-3 core now works in VMWare with two CPU's on a Intel Core Duo CPU, also the beta 4 & 5 kernels have been confirmed to work on a Core Duo 2 CPU (however this may just be one CPU model) natively.

Here's a picture of VMWare on a Core Duo CPU in VMWare (Beta 3 kernel).

Be sure to get your kernel's while they're hot :)

Hi!!!

I've got OSX_1048_AMD_SSE3.iso from piratebay.

Installation was ok. It was slow - there is still some issue with timing i guess, and Disk Utility doesn't wat to format my drive so i've go to use older Disk Utility to do it.

The point is - it won't boot.

When i'm trying to start new installed OSX to starts to read all kext files, and then shows a blank black screen and that's it. I've tried to replace kernel to newest one but it didn't help.

My hardware is:

Fujitsu-Siemens Amilo A 1667G laptop

Mobile AMD Athlon64 3400+

Via chipped motherboard

1 GB RAM

ATI Radeon Mobility x700

Any advice??? It looks like the new kernel doesnt like Mobile CPUs

I am curretnly a bit stuck since one of my dev boyes died and I need to get at least a new mobo for, maybe some other parts, can't overview the damage atm. :-(

Please don't mind if I am a bit slower than usale, thanks.

Slight problem here: the processor is displayed as "Core Solo" in "About This Mac", however, system profile/geekbench/system motitor all show 2 cores. Also, the clock shows 3.8GHz if I dont specify factor=xxx in kernel flags.

Temperature is still ~10C higher than in Windows...
