O'oh.. seems like omni saw your post boris and decided to release his findings.

http://omni.starchaser.org/titan/

AND IT WORKS!!!!!

IT............................. JUST........................... WORKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

THANKS Omni. (And I tried it with the Mifki kernel, if you read this forum)

For anybody knows how to make Titan work like a Titan please give us step by step installation procedure. I have 6600GT on 1.4.8 Jas combo update. I want to test it against my Hackintosh.

What is chown/chmod ?

Please some help needed here

THANK YOU OMNI !!!!!! we appreciate all your effort and work for helping the community. I think we need a forum to do the beta testing and share our findings so the development process can progress fast. I've seen previous posts and if you don't mind Omni would like to report our findings to you ? just tell us where

Thanks to np_ who is working also with Omni to make this possible.

What? Who? Where?

giandal please tell us more!!

Did you just copy the Titan.kext?

Full QE/CI/OpenGL?

Any tearing or glitches?!?!

I'AM SO EXCITED!!! I think I am going mad!!! :2cents:

As simple as following the instructions from OMNI, plugged into /System/Library/Extensions

Removed any /System/Library/Extensions.*

changed owner to root:wheel and chmod to 755....

So far no tearing or glitches!

Are you looking to get detention mister

Do your homework biggrin.gif

Well, I tried my best and did my own research

sudo cp -R Titan.kext /System/Library/Extension

sudo kextcache -k /System/Library/Extensions

I got an error message says that I don't have permission on next reboot. So I added this

sudo chown -R root:wheel Titan.kext

sudo chmod -R 755 Titan.kext

then I rebooted. The boot hangs after loading forcedeth.kext

I guess because I am using 1.4.6 Jas >> 1.4.8 Jas combo update. (AMD SSE2 what can I do!)

I don't have 8.8.1 kernel but 8.4.1

So did I do something wrong or I just have to wait for Jas to release 1.4.8 AMD ppf Patch ?

Any idea ?

I got an error message says that I don't have permission on next reboot. So I added this

sudo chown -R root:wheel Titan.kext

sudo chmod -R 755 Titan.kext

Any idea ?

sudo chown -R root:wheel /System/Library/Extensions/Titan.kext

sudo chmod -R 755 /System/Library/Extensions/Titan.kext

You need new kernel :sorcerer:

Theres three ideas :D

Now go sit back down and finish your homework :D

could anybody please try if dual displays are working or not?

since omni is stating that something needs to be changed prior to get dual displays working it would be cool if someone who is very experienced could put together a Titan kext for dual display setups.

AND IT WORKS!!!!!

IT............................. JUST........................... WORKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

THANKS Omni. (And I tried it with the Mifki kernel, if you read this forum)

Giandal tell us, does the new driver let the monitor enter standby mode?

This is great news

thanks for the help guys but i tried that method and i get "System extension cannot be used." after the method icyderguru posted. I also tried to repair permissions and get the same message. for those who got this working, what steps did you take?

Full success,

XFX 6600 GT fully working, tested with Openmark, iTunes, Quicktime, DVD player. OpenGL extension viewer report full support.

This is on a Dell dimension 4700 using the semthex kernel modified to avoid the CPUID bug in the Dells Pc's.

The system is fully supported now.

Thanks omni and np_

dvil, what steps did you take to make it work?

Just the ones outlined on omni's site,

copy the Titan.kext to /System/Library/Extensions, chmod and chown it

chmod -R 755 Titan.kext

chown -R root:wheel Titan.kext

delete Extensions.kextcache and Extensions.mkext, reboot and pry.

sudo chown -R root:wheel /System/Library/Extensions/Titan.kext

sudo chmod -R 755 /System/Library/Extensions/Titan.kext

You need new kernel

Theres three ideas :happymac:

Now go sit back down and finish your homework :D

I'm not sure the new kernel is needed.

I've copied all the nVidia related kexts from the new kernel, and my system doesn't hang at boot.

It sets the resolution properly but I only get a black screen, but it keeps booting and I can connect via network. It seems it gets initialized properly.

I think my problem has to do with the framebuffer offset omni mentioned (my card is a laptop card).

So as a result I'm creating my own kext based on omni's description - it's nearly done now, too bad I have to go to work now.

If anyone can try the new kext's on the old kernel, please report your findings, it would be of great help to see if it is possible at all.

Someone post an Xbench just showing the OpenGL and such please.
