When I try to boot as safe mode and normal, I have these kind of Loop error as followings.

Sametime my dekstop did not recognized DVD unfortunatly.<< Need A/S.

I just only access FAT32 as single user mode

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance and keep up the good work people !

Cheers !

Umm, im sure you could but if your already running it i dont see a point, youd have to delete the installation receipt to be able to insatll my combo option.

An dthat isnt and error that is r2d2 decoding the tpm calls, if it hangs then wait for me to relase my new patch and get that instead

i used jas's 10.4.8 sse2 update from my 10.4.5 and it woked fine.

if i go to software update i cant see the updates anymore for other things, quicktime itunes etc.

so have i missed stuff from not using the combo?

Im still having probs getting my ati mobility 9600pro to change resolution, tried callisto but but nothing. think something to do with the fact one of the terminal commands didnt do anything ........

The security updates are part of 10.4.8. Quicktime and iTunes are not in the Combo update. You can go to the Apple website and download those.

Thanks Kiko,

I thought R2D2.kext is already confirmed good eventhough loop.

So these kind of problem is related with Frame work as followings.

When I try to boot as safe mode and normal, I have these kind of Loop error as followings.

If you installed the JaS 10.4.8 update, which I think you did, then you need to repair permissions. Boot your install DVD and go to Disk Utility in the Utilities menu and repair permissions on your OSX partition.

Umm, im sure you could but if your already running it i dont see a point, youd have to delete the installation receipt to be able to insatll my combo option.

An dthat isnt and error that is r2d2 decoding the tpm calls, if it hangs then wait for me to relase my new patch and get that instead

No, I´m not running 10.4.8 yet.

I´m a bit confused about these two patches.

I want to know the differences between both, if I´ll have improvements in Rosetta, which kernel is being used, if the so called new ATI x1300 support exists and so on.

Sorry, but it won´t be easier for all if you both, kiko and Jas, work together towards ONE full working patch?

The 10.4.8 updates do not use Rosetta from 10.4.8. They use the one from 10.4.7. The Rosetta apps (translate and translated) need to be decrypted.

There is no magic in 10.4.8 for x1300. Neither of the updates use the 10.4.8 kexts. They use whatever kexts you already have installed. I'm sure when someone discovers a way to enable x1300/x1400, a patch will be published and it will be added to an install package. I do believe that Kiko includes updated kexts for x1600/x1800 however.

No one has hacked a kernel newer than 10.4.4

Kiko's update uses the Apple Combo updater and JaS uses the delta updater.

Unfortunatly My system did not recognized DVD.

I can not boot using DVD.

I just boot as single user mode using "-s -v".

That's why I try to copy specific files related with problem.

Thanks Rammjet.

You can do it from single-user mode (-s).

Boot into single-user mode, mount the disks (mount -uw /) and then repair permissions (diskutil repairpermissions /)

I downloaded the update and got a weird message at the end of the installation, "Installation ended with errors, Please reenstall", but when I rebooted and repaired permissions as instructed, it boots and my system says it is now 10.4.8.

anyone else had this happen????

I redownloaded the update again and tryed the install, but I just keep getting the error message. Seems to have installed ok though. Weeeiiiiirrrreeeeddd.
