Hi, folks!

As an update of my computer's status with Clover UEFI, i can say that i have perfect power management with a custom SSDT, higher Geekbench scores and sleep/wake working without a trace of that much annoying wake bug. So, all in all, i'm quite satisfied. Although, there are still issues to solve:

1) I use a three-card setup, with Intel HD4000 as primary card, connected through DVI (and sometimes HDMI), a 9800GT in the PCI-e 16x slot, and finally a G210 in the PCI-e 4x slot of my motherboard. All three cards work like a charm (of course, only the HD4000 has boot screen), but upon the arrival of the GUI, the graphics are heavily corrupted, forcing me to unplug/replug the monitor for it to work (as described here #1316 and discussed thereafter by Toleda, Kyndder and myself). I'd love to remediate this issue;

2) The boot screen appears distorted and underscaled despite using PatchVBios=Yes. Only with Clover UEFI it happens: with legacy Clover or Chameleon, i get a smooth 1080p full scaled boot screen. At the time i first try to solve the issue, there was no known solution yet for it: did it changed now?

All the best!

Hi, folks!

As an update of my computer's status with Clover UEFI, i can say that i have perfect power management with a custom SSDT, higher Geekbench scores and sleep/wake working without a trace of that much annoying wake bug. So, all in all, i'm quite satisfied. Although, there are still issues to solve:

1) I use a three-card setup, with Intel HD4000 as primary card, connected through DVI (and sometimes HDMI), a 9800GT in the PCI-e 16x slot, and finally a G210 in the PCI-e 4x slot of my motherboard. All three cards work like a charm (of course, only the HD4000 has boot screen), but upon the arrival of the GUI, the graphics are heavily corrupted, forcing me to unplug/replug the monitor for it to work (as described here #1316 and discussed thereafter by Toleda, Kyndder and myself). I'd love to remediate this issue;

Dont know what bios bersion u have,and did yout uefi have options to completly disable CSM ?

If it have ill try that first then if u get black screen or something ill try to update intel vga oprom to latest version.

U can check how to do it here.

Nice thread with many oproms can be found here.

Maybe the best if u didnt do it before to ask Stasio this forum to do it for u :D

Good luck.

Dont know what bios bersion u have,and did yout uefi have options to completly disable CSM ?.

Thank you, my friend, but you didn't quite understand what i said: i don't have black screen! In fact, i had when i first tried Clover, and this prevented me to even get to the boot screen. That time, i had to remove CSM and include Aptio UEFI drivers to solve it. The issue i'm describing is of another nature altogether: i put a link to where it's discussed, but i don't blame you for not to read. I took the liberty to copy it here:

I beginned:

Hi' date=' Kyndder! How are you?

I have a setup kind of similar to Toleda's (H77-DS3H, HD4000+98000GT) and, with his help (this topic: About using discrete and integrated graphics at the same time: - OSx86 10.8 (Mountain Lion) - InsanelyMac Forum) i got both cards to work together with Clover in BIOS mode.

My main issue now is getting it to boot from UEFI (it does fine if i use only one card): to boot using the HD4000 in this two-card setup, i had to get rid of all other keys/strings under Graphics, using only GraphicsInjector=No. This gave me a stretched boot menu, but that's a minor annoyance. But, when the system reaches the desktop, i get graphics artifacts so heavy it renders the system unusable. Since i cannot take a picture of it, a good description would be the lower half of the screen completely black, except for blinking white pixels on the left side, and the upper side of the screen outputting repeated slices, heavily distorted, of my desktop. i don't know what to try, since it appears that it should have been working with only GI=No (Clover General discussion - Page 59 - Clover - InsanelyMac Forum)

Here's my video dump (obtained pressing F6 in the boot menu), if it helps: http://www.insanelym...ttach_id=120010

Best regards!

Kyndder answered:

I'm great' date=' thanks!

I believe that you case is a bit different than toleda's...

Did you already tried this??? > http://www.osx86.net...html#post138119

I answered back:

Thank you very much for the answer' date=' kyndder!

If i add CsmVideoDxe-64.efi, i get a blank screen. With PatchVBios=Yes, i get stuck with a blinking cursor, and in both cases the boot menu never appears (same issues Toleda had, i suppose). So i remove both, since i don't really care for the stretched menu. But the issue of my graphics not working at all, even with a proven DSDT fix, that is really disheartening. I'll do the tests and report back ASAP.

Thank you very much!

UPDATE: No luck: the heavy artifacts, as described, persist. Thank you very much.[/quote']

Then Toleda described the situation we've both experiencing better than i could, and proposed a workaround:

CloverUEFI boots the HD4000 HDMI port with one problem; with refit.conf set to 1920x1080 (no CsmVideoDxe-64.efi' date=' only GI=No), there are 15 images of the desktop on the top quarter of the screen. An unplug/replug solves the problem. The PatchVBiosBytes fix from Past #1251 was unsuccessful for 1080p, boot halted at boot screen with flashing cursor upper right.

The unplug/replug of the HDMI cable gives me a desktop with no artifacts. On my system, CloverUEFI for HDMI/1080p boot is useable but unsatisfactory and for DP/1440p boot is not useable.[/quote']

And since then, i'm using this workaround. But having to unplug/replug every boot sucks big time.

All the best!

Ok, I send the ID to Clover 1350 but it is not mean that it resolves all your problem.

I think you should also do connector patch and switch off PatchVBios.

I read it and i dont know how are u booting.

Its UEFI with CSM disabled or enabled ?

If u try with CSM disabled and its not working then plz try updated " Intel® PCI Accelerated SVGA BIOS 2158 PC 14.34 (11/23/2012) "

Using guide i posted on link above or let them do it for u if u are not sure how to do it.

they do good work with updating bios

my have many other things updated.

It's UEFI, i boot fine with either CSM enabled or disabled - it makes no difference, xpamamadeus. :)

The issue is, for the desktop to appear, i have to unplug/replug the DVI cable. And this happens only with Clover UEFI (so it's not a hardware issue, or a misconfiguration issue, but a boot mode issue).

Hello everybody. Could you tell what does this key mean that is Turbo=Yes?

Does is mean enabling turbo-mode?

Or does it mean overclocink on one stage.

Because FakeSMC+Senssors from kozlek show me that turbo-mode works normally without this key of Clover.

Hi slice thank for your work can you add also this ID for the HD 7850

vendor-id: 1002, dev-id: 6819 also subsystem id for my HIS 1787 201C

The ID=6819 is already present here and subsystem is not used by Clover.

See my report with this card booted by Clover

With csm disabled u will get load efi vga driver witch will set max resolution in clover,with enabled u get bios vga loaded.

Soo its good idea for trying updated vga bioses and try it.

P.S.: For some unknown reason,

<key>MountEFI</key>

<string>Yes</string>

doesn't work for me: i think i'll have to live with terminal commands for it.

Same here, even when "nvram -p | grep Clover" says "Clover.MountEFI Yes"...

It is because you have to set the framebuffer and make ati connector patch if need it.

@Slice Thanks for your reply.

I have checked the ati.c again, I think the chip name shoud be Radeon HD7570 rather than HD7570M.

At the same time, Can you help me to complie revision 1350? Because of some resaon, I can not setup the compling environment on me PC.

My main board is the same as you. and reading your posts are much helpful for my Clover build.

Thanks so much.

But a question.

Don't you have "FireWire GUID 0000000000000000 is invalid!" without CMS?

I got the message even i disable IEEE1394 in BIOS.

With csm disabled u will get load efi vga driver witch will set max resolution in clover,with enabled u get bios vga loaded.

Soo its good idea for trying updated vga bioses and try it.

Turbo string mean if your processor supports Turbo Mode, if it supports you need to set Yes.

Year. But sensors from kozlek show me the max frequency which is 1.73Gz.

http://www.cpu-world.com/CPUs/Core_i7/Intel-Core%20i7%20Mobile%20I7-720QM%20BY80607002907AH%20(BX80607I7720QM).html

Frequency ? 1600 MHz

Turbo frequency 2800 MHz (1 core)

2400 MHz (2 cores)

1733 MHz (3 or 4 cores)

Here is techical data of my processor.

Hence, I made a sopposition that the key Turbo=Yes is overclocing on one sage.

Am I right?

Update: figured out the issue ....

the Lenovo i2520 does not like seem to like running at 100Mhz (exactly). i turned the frequency down using the BusSpeedkHz key - not sure what is the exact optimal number is yet... but will play it. However, using CpuFrequencyMHz -- seems to work best and lets Clover figure out the bus speed.

<key>CPU</key>

<dict>

<key>CpuFrequencyMHz</key>

<string>2500</string>

<key>Turbo</key>

<string>Yes</string>

/*

<key>BusSpeedkHz</key>

<string>99700</string>

*/

</dict>

Clock Problem

i have recently moved from chameleon to clover and i have a problem!

the system seems to run faster (geekbench is 6626 vs 6571 clover vs chameleon) BUT... the clock loses time (drifts off) very quickly.

if i check nptq -p after 10 minutes i have lost about about 1400 mseconds. - the same exact disk booted with chameleon loses about 9 ms.

same disk booted in 2 different ways clover vs chameleon.

$ ntpq -p

remote refid st t when poll reach delay offset jitter

I read it and i dont know how are u booting.

Its UEFI with CSM disabled or enabled ?

If u try with CSM disabled and its not working then plz try updated " Intel® PCI Accelerated SVGA BIOS 2158 PC 14.34 (11/23/2012) "

Using guide i posted on link above or let them do it for u if u are not sure how to do it.

Regarding the problem theconnactic discussed of getting to a 1080p (HD4000 HDMI) or 1440p (HD4000 DisplayPort) Desktop with Clover UEFI, some additional information:

My log shows the problem:

0:318 0:178 Available graphics modes for refit.conf screen_resolution:

0:318 0:000 Curr. Mode = 2, Modes = 3, FB = D0000000, FB size=0x3FF0000

0:318 0:000 - Mode 0: 1024x768 PixFmt = 8bit BGR, PixPerScanLine = 1024

0:318 0:000 - Mode 1: 640x480 PixFmt = 8bit BGR, PixPerScanLine = 640

0:318 0:000 - Mode 2: 800x600 PixFmt = 8bit BGR, PixPerScanLine = 800

0:318 0:000 SetScreenResolution: 2560x1440 - not found!

0:318 0:000 SetMaxResolution: found best mode 0: 1024x768 - set

reFit selects 1024x768 which my monitor does not support. A huge Apple logo shows up (wrong resolution) and the Desktop appears with multiple images. An unplug/replug works 50% of the time with HDMI and 10% or the time with DP. Usually a reboot is required.

Chameleon with GraphicsMode boots successfully every time to 1080p and 1440p. There is no option in my P8Z77-I Deluxe BIOS for CSM. Boot hangs with Clover/CsmVideoDxe installed.

I boot Clover/UEFI, no CSM. Current installed Intel firmware supports 1080p and 1440p as the BIOS setup menus support the native monitor resolutions.

Is there a way to add modes for 720p, 1080p and 1440p to refit.conf screen_resolution? Other suggestions?
