Hi Tmongkul

interesting .. (no chance here with boot 7/8 with cartris macbios and custom 5770 bios)

concerning > 24bit / 96 /192 KHz (over SPDIF) to get hi-res audio ...

never got it to work (think its an Apple limitation -my 2009 PB is 24/96 only)

workaround : M2Tech HiFace interface (100$) over USB (mac_driver) ...worked like a charm with all resolutions up

to 32bit/192KHz - sounds phenomenous (no intention to deal with this crappy realtek hdmi audio)

Would you mind testing (as you use a very clean dsdt) your rig

with smallluxgpu ?

I use the Sapphire Rev.3 you searched above

(works with all resolutions and HDMI on second monitor)

I bought Sapphire vapor-x HD 5770 1GB and tested it with OS X 10.6.4 today. I tried to find [P.S. I think why some could not get HD 5770 working properly while they're using "boot" to run at 64 bit because graphic card bus address's not 0x00010000. So, they got to add 1002_68b8.rom into /Extra since boot could not get bin image from such 0x0003000, for example. Need talent people, like trauma! and netkas to fix this problem.

In my case GFX is @ 0x0003000, and i need a ROM file. We will need people to report there addresses and if they need to use a ROM file or not.

ati.c use the same pci call to find the device and build device properties path, it's seems to work fine, but let see if the address is the problem.

Using ioreg output from this command should bring us the requiered information:

ioreg -lw0 | grep acpi-path

In my case :

 | | |   "device-properties" = {"acpi-device"="IOACPIPlatformDevice is not serializable","acpi-path"="IOACPIPlane:/_SB/PCI0@0"}
| | | "acpi-path" = "IOACPIPlane:/_SB/PCI0@0"

I tested Sapphire vapor-x HD 5770 while I was opening iTunes and connecting LCD TV via HDMI. Using Chameleon RC5 v356's boot to load bin_image, no bin_image Hex in DSDT. It's weird that results were close to Gigabyte HD 5770 plus using bin_image Hex in DSDT. I used to use trauma!'s boot to test Gigabyte HD 5770 and I got results as higher numbers.

My friend has Gigabyte X58A-UD3R and got to use 1002_68b8.rom for Gigabyte HD 5770 (sold to him) in /Extra in order to get 64 bit working. Address is 0x00030000.

these results are quite good if you use a non OC Q 9400 .

i used a Q9550 @3 Ghz for my measurements

in fact there are people with the netkas ati.rom posted here

and i 7 cpus

who get results in the 50 sec. range with ultragpu bench

thats 30 % worse as you measured.

Thanks for your work

Hello again.

I´ve writen a few days ago but i got none resolve.

I want to use my amd system + msi ati 5770 pm2d1g-oc in 64 bit mode.

My bootloader is chameleon 2 rc2 and i use legace_kernel 10.4.

I downloaded the rom of my graphicscard which is called xxxx.bin. Should i rename it in 1002_68b8.rom and change the boot file???

My question is.

Does anybody run it with an amd system? (Would be really important for me if it is possible)

Is the boot8 file able to run with an amd system?

Last time i tried it with a bootrom from netkas i got an kernel panic. (But i have to say i don´t try it with UseAtiRom; i used an other)

Please help me!!! I want to run my system in 64 bit mode!!! (Because of my ram, system speed, etc......) :)

So it would be really nice if anybody can tell me if it would work or if anybody´s amd system works with this files!!!!

Thx for help, i hope anybody can help me.......

Hi Guys,

I have a HIS HD 5770 1gb card, my current install is Kalyway with Voodoo 9.6 kernal with updates up to 10.5.8. Is there any way i could get this card working correctly within my install.

i tried to install Hazards 10.6 but kept getting kernal panics so gave up. ;)

The main thing i want is to be able to use iLife and iWork which i need quatz extreme for. currently i have my boot.plist using graphics mode to my resolution would prefer to try this.

Looking forward to responses thanks.

merci beacoup trauma for your explanation. i only wanted it to bei n the dsdt because if a chameleon update comes aroujnd (which I do need because RC5 will ffeature CPUID injection for i3s), I can't update it unless you decide to, while DSDT, I probably will never change it unless I get a BIOS update and even then I would upgrade if it offers something. (Only thing that could be better on my boardi s USB EHCI support on two of the usb ports, but that's likely not to happen).

Oh could you please tell me/us what the difference is between boot7, boot8, and boot9? I ask because Boot7 with ROM works fine for me while boot8 doesn't work at all, and boot9 as I just tested, works with ROM. thank you.

EDIT* Boot9 works with ROM. Boot9 without ROM does NOT work.

Tested ports:

HDMI Alone

HDMI Alone using HDMI -> DVI Cable

DVI Alone (both ports)

DVI Alone using DVI -> HDMI Cable (Same cable used above)

HDMI + DVI (both ports)

HDMI (DVI Cable) + DVI (both ports)

DVI + DVI

All working! With proper recongnition shown in the hardware profile page.

I do need to use a XFX 5770 ROM to make my card work.

(XFX ATI Radeon 5770 Card)

64 or 32.

TOOK THE RENDER TESTS:

7.2 - Mid

34.6 - Ultra

38.2 - Sponza Ultra

But it said 725MHz on the GPU, neither my core or mem is supposed to be that. other XFX rom says the same.

edit2: I thought the other ROM was fine so I kept it, but with that ROM i had a white/gray screen with dark gray vertical lines (evenly)... then i restarted, happened again 2 times. I revertd back to the old rom.. hope it didn't do any permanent damage.

pleasssse wastez .. its a little bit frustrating ...I see you now everywhere from netkas forum to insane posting always the same stuff

... read the know hows and try it yourself..we all did it

I learned:

there are so many variations in hardware that theres nowhere a 100 % guide for 100 % success

very good bench results.. just about the same as me ..and best so far ..What CPU ?

did you compare if there are small speed variations between 32bit and 64 bit ?

reported 725 Mhz is a known bug in Apple OpenCl drivers ( Mitch )

flashed the 5770 about 10-times , really harmless card ..very forgiving

XFX bios didn´t work for me (Sapphire Rev. 3 reference)

you may update your profile :-)

Hello,

I just hope to that someone can tell me if it is possible with an amd cpu before i destroy my system again, because last time i tried it with an rom i got an kernel panic and i´ve to restore my system. ;) I read with an Intel system there is no problem.

Sorry for that. I´m going to try it myself. Usually i did this everytime but this time i just want to know so much as possible if it is possible and so on, because i´m really bussy at the moment.

Sorry again...... :(

understandable ..but

in the past 3 years dealing with OSX installs I remember reinstalling my system from

timemachine-superduper-carboncopycloner- hatchclonery... and others about 73 times

and as a person with an IQ lower than sliced bread I had to read a lot of stuff...

I spend really much time in it and i know that i must to do it that that all works fine. :(

I just thouht as more i know how to do it, will give me the chance that i´m not going to recover all.

Of course i know that the best kind of learning is by doing.

But i also help people that don´t know how to do something. Thats the reason why i asked.

I´m sorry i don´t want to nerve......

Hi,

the main differences between boot7, 8 and 9 are the injection structure. Pre 9 version was mimicked from ATY_Init injections result. At rev 9 of boot I've used a dump from a real Mac Pro with HD 5870 in order to build the needed injections. On the rev 2 off boot9 i've changed the frame-buffer of 58x0 cards to the stock one. It seems PC card design is not working fine with stocks frame-buffers.

For the record here are the stock frame-buffers:

HD 5670 : Galago

HD 5750 : ??

HD 5770 : Hoolock

HD 5870 : Langur

And what we are using for now:

HD 5670 : Baboon

HD 5750 : Vervet

HD 5770 : Vervet

HD 5850 : Uakari

HD 5870 : Uakari

Next big step will be to fix VBIOS reading directly from the card, and also access memory size register to fulfill VRAM injection by channel automatically. Maybe latter an option to change frame-buffer selection on the fly could be cool.

About the IOREG output i've asked you: unfortunately i'm not able to determine what's the adress of your card in all cases. The simplest would be that you post your full ioreg output here, and tell us if you need or not to use a ROM file. I guess nearly everyone need the rom for the moment.

Cheers.

For my Gigabyte GA-H55M-UD2H + Gigabyte 5770. Using boot9 + ROM. According to gfxutil this the address should be 0x010000. The ioreg did not show it correctly.

gfxutil -f display
DevicePath = PciRoot(0x1)/Pci(0x1,0x0)/Pci(0x0,0x0)

didn´t get it to work so far without and with ATI-ROM and CartriMac bios 0.8

Ok so as I thought, the problem is not related to the device path. ;) Thanks for this output.

Trauma!,

Thanks for the explanation. Do you think you can release the source code? So when the next Chameleon comes out, we can compile it ourselves. (Release it as no-warranty/support kinda deal). So there aren't any liability issues? Thank you. And if you can correct the address to read the BIOS, potentially you can get rid of the need of an external BIOS, and memory injection is icing on the cake, even better. If you have a hard time integrating different frame buffers, I would release multiple versions of the same build number.

sch8mid,

haha will do! i am using a i3 540 cpu with 4gb of corsair dhx xms3 ram 1333mhz. (2x2).

you know, I haven't done 32-bit vs 64-bit. I'll do that now! I haven't flashed the card once and can't since I can't install Windows until my DVD Drive gets here. (I pried open an Xbox to install OS X LOL, but apparently it can't read DVD-R)

OK got the results.

32-bit:

7.2 -> 34.6 -> 38.3

64-bit:

7.2 -> 33.6 -> 38

Nice rig ..

Yepp . fast results - may be you will be the first to break the 7 sec. barrier :-)

So far : 7, 1 sec. has to be beaten . SmalluxGpu is not very CPU dependent , but

with OC you see small improvements , and it likes fast RAM and high FSB.

so I am limited with my Quad 9550 and DDR 2 /1150 sticks.

Your 32bit/64 bit comparison will be very interesting , though I don`t think we see

massive improvements in OpenCL , may be more in OpenGlbenches (Furmark-Cinebench)

You may try Cinebench/Mac 11.5 in 64 bit .....

EDIT: Just saw your 32/64 results above .. and yes seems to be true

Thanks sch8mid for your compliments, heh my rig is called McFrankenstein! (Has elements of iMac, Macbook/Pro, and Mac Pro!)

Unfortunately, I have no plans to overclock my computer. (My philosophies for this build was to create a low energy consuming, cool and quiet computer. 90-100 watts idle, 170 watts max playing SC2 or Game in steam!).

However when I get home, I will definately run Cinebench in 32-bit and 64-bit and will post the benchmark scores. Furmark, I think though is only for windows?

And what did you mean by "yepp. Fast results" and "yes seems to be true"? Sorry I couldn't understand.
