killswitch911
No, and Its annoying looking at all the laggy mouse discussion when someone can just tell a group of us how to downgrade to 10.5.5, then problem solved for many of us. XanthraX
Hi all. I had an issue after installing the 10.5.6 combo update, even after adding the PC_efi V9 and DSDT. I have 2 computers based on the Asus P5K-VM mobo. At one of them, with JaS 10.5.4 client-server (only client installed) I had no problems, the update went fine. At the 2nd computer I had Leo4All v3 updated to 10.5.5 I did the same steps, as I had seen in netkas blog, but after update I could never get the second restart - the system got stuck at the gray apple splash screen. I used the Boot CD (Boot 146-BUM) and I could install the retail genuine Leopard 10.5.0, with Archive and Install metod. It could used after, only using the same boot CD. I upgraded again using 10.5.6 combo, using the all steps (installing PC_EFI v9 and dsdt, then the combo update, but still could not boot without the CD (stuck at the gray apple). I added today the disabler.kext and the AppleDecrypt.kext (I extracted from the JaS DVD) and all went finally OK. Maybe my experience can help. Cheers! sampledi
Guys, I've made 1 minute screen capture of playing around with QuickTime, VLC, iTunes, Quick Look.... playing back different video formats (HD, SD) Video is here: http://rapidshare.com/files/174269437/nv1056.zip FIle is only 11mb, so please take a look. 10.5.6, 8800GT 512 I know that it is very, very hard to say only by looking this video capture (and I would like to show you working in video editing app, but I can't ), but everything is working smoothly. I can even say that there are some performance improvements after this update. Sengo
What efi string are you using etc ? It's nice that you have no problems with this update but sucks for the ones who had everything working and now are facing all this issues :c . What's worst is that if we can't figure out what is the problem we will be doomed in the future maybe . cheers , off to try another install method to see if i have any luck ! VN Man
No reply from the other thread so I ask here... I have the P35DS4 with soft RAID of 3 hard disks... Intalled dsdt and new chameleon boot file...rebooted with out problems. So I thought that I can install 10.5.6, BIG Mistake... 10.5.6 install to 56%, then came half transparency screen which means system hang and requires hard reset. After that only work with "-x" and "-s".... So took out the reserve HD which has 10.5.4, booted with that and use Pacifist to install on to the RAID, checked that /Extra has AppleDecrypt.kext and Disabler.kext...removed AppleIntelCPU... kext file from the RAID... rebooted with the RAID, the system trying to boot then HDs of the RAID seems to gone to sleep after working hard for 3 mins :-) And it like that if I used -x og let it boot with default... Any suggestions on how to get the system to boot from RAID again ?! I'm using efi strings for 8800GT and Network Adapter generated with EFI Studio, so nothing unusual there. Retail, EFI v9 by Netkas, DSDT.aml .... I wrote more details in some of my previous posts. aschar1
paulzurrr : it lags if you leave itunes + QT opened during VLC playback. It doesn't lag with 10.5.5 drivers though. I have no lags with Quicktime, VLC, Itunes and Eyetv playing at the same time with Nvidia 8800GT 512 MB. Everything working including Firewire, Wlan and Timemachine except reboot and sleep (restarts) not working (Reboot can be fixed with old patched AppleACPIPlatform.kext) Install method: munky with mkext from EFI Volume including Dsmos, IntelCPUPMDisabler, SMBIOSEnabler, IOAHCIBlockStorageiconfix and RealtekR1000.kext (Psystar). i did a completely new install and migrated friom my backup, because after upgrading my wlan did not work. The only kext patched on my vanilla 10.5.6 volume is AppleHDA.kext from Taruga for sound. DSDT patched with Fassls patcher (option Darwin) and manually fixed WAK serialization. But this did not help with sleep. I guess we have to wait for a solution for the sleep issue from the gurus but there is defintively no need for downgrading Quicktime or Nvidia drivers. S-AVR
On XPS M1710 used iAtkOS for 10.5.5. Used Voodoo kernel. Updated with no dsdt patch. Changed seatbelt.kext. Everything works fine now except for sleep but I'm ok without it. Konami®
Everything working including Firewire, Wlan and Timemachine except reboot and sleep (restarts) not working(Reboot can be fixed with old patched AppleACPIPlatform.kext) You can fix Shutdown and Reboot without replacing AppleACPIPlatform.kext with this kext: OpenHaltRestart.kext.zip Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/141093-1056-released/page/19/#findComment-1003266 Share on other sites
Guest ѕиоѡ
No sleep here (reboots on wake) I only use sleep (S3) so major issue here. Firewire works, reboot works, shutdown hopefully does. 10.5.5 was perfect with sleep. eraserhead77
Intalled dsdt and new chameleon boot file...rebooted with out problems. So I thought that I can install 10.5.6, BIG Mistake... 10.5.6 install to 56%, then came half transparency screen which means system hang and requires hard reset. This was pretty much my experience as well...I was able to boot afterwards using -f but the screen was flashing and jumping around...booting with -x solved this temporarily, and was able to reinstall the update, but it did no good...still FUBAR after reboot...jumpy screen, no keyboard, mouse recognized...etc. At least this whole experience gave me a chance to use Time Machine for the first time...I was pretty impressed once I got it working. For now at least I'm sticking to 10.5.5...I've got the set-up just the way I like it and I don't need to blast my laptop right before vacation...lol Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/141093-1056-released/page/19/#findComment-1003298 Share on other sites

exploding_monkeyface
I rushed through things and forgot to check the forums for updates. I missed the update that I needed to put in the 10.5.5 Appleintelcpupowermanagement.kext before attempting the upgrade. I tried the install, it hung, I rebooted and kept getting the grey "must reboot" screen. I dropped to -v -x and was not surprised to see that it's throwing errors on Appleintelcpupowermanagement. My question is, how can I recover my machine? Would booting from Kalyway and putting the kext in place work or am I fubar and its TimeMachine restore for me? I'm at work right now or I'd be playing with it and probably causing more damage. Whiplasher
For a right upgrading follow these steps: http://insanelymac.blogspot.com/2008/12/pr...pdating-to.html P.S- you may collide with a problem of a frozen keyboard after the installation so just replace/install the following kexts...
