  1. iTunes 10.1 via Software Update

Not just Synolgy, any NAS that uses Firefly /Daap would not display the library properly with iTunes 10. I have freeNAS and have an empty "Playlist"....with previous version I would see my 300 GB worth of music - no problem at all....
  2. Try and disable IDE / ATA, use only SATA..
  3. To people having problem with BootCD, if you can just follow this guide in preparing the OS X Install on USB stick - http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=183751 Then follow this guide, everything should now work. I have now a perfect Snow installation.
  4. OK My mistake...my dsdt file got messed up, that is why the OS complained about HPET. Anyhow uses other dsdt.aml from another thread in this forum, recompile and got no warnings.... Now AppleHDA kext loaded and....No Sound Back to the other thread and see if anyone have any ideas....
  5. OK tried the latest version of MacLoader_SL (version 0.4) in the hope to get AppleHDA.kext loaded... seems that it has support for HDEF but lost HPET... Now got KP, the error is about HPET...
  6. GREAT GUIDE... I installed SL on my GA P35 DS4 and it work almost right with initial installation. I said almost because I could not get Micron JMB363 controller to work also no sound, video card kext not loaded and all the drives displayed as external. Now I used NVDarwin and VoodooHDA for video and sound, not use the purple SATA and certain kext to make the drives internal. I like the idea not displaying drives on the desktop, hate clustering desktop, now only external drives are display on the desktop... Now how can I get my 4.1 sound to work... Once again thanks for the guide.
  7. Moving RAID

To answer my own question - 1) with hardware RAID - no chance if moving on different controllers 2) with software RAID - a good chance that it would just work. I took the plunge (after backing the data of the RAID of course), moved the RAID from one machine to another and it just work Thanks for reading this...
  8. Moving RAID

I have setup RAID Stripe on 1 sytem running 10.5.6. Now I need to move the RAID to 10.4.11 system, is it possible ? Is it just a simple step of moving physically the 3 hard disks from 1 machine to another? Thanks in advance for suggestions...
  9. Too right... I did a complete re-install, then 10.5.6 kexts. After that tried the command line "diskutil repairPermissions /Volumes/RAID" It complains about IOAHCI, tried again once more the command "diskutil..." ..that did NOT fix the problem... Finally, I tried to boot from the iATKOS DVD and tried the dislutil from there. And that finally fixed the problem.... Have to say, there are a lot of inputs here that are helpful... Thanks and HAPPY XMAS....
  10. Why Update to 10.5.6 ?

After a little trouble with updating to 10.5.6 I recommend update to 10.5.6. Atleast for me loading the OS is MUCH FASTER...
  11. Still the same problem with the latest 10.5.6 kexts pack...help !!!! Another re-install and this time it works....
  12. After failed attempt with latest Chameleon .12 version with the RAID that I had before...I cloned from my existing single 10.5.5, installed the .11 version of Chameleon to the RAID ("Boot OS X"), changed the com.Boot.apple.plist with the RAID ID as per the guide (I had the RAID worked before the 10.5.6 update as said)... With the new instructions here for 10.5.6 I used Pacifist and install 10.5.6 on the RAID, ran 10.5.5 patch, then replaced with the "Latest 10.5.6 kext"... Rebooted with the RAID, now it complains that "AHCI port is not in the same super class...." and got "Waiting for root device".... 23 Dec. Actually it complains about "com.apple.iokit.IOAHCIBlockStorage"
  13. I must admit that I did not remove disabler ketx.... Thanks for your help so far :-) I will try again after Clone Copy from my reserved disk....
  14. Installed on "Boot OS X" partition i.e. diskXSY...
  15. 10.5.6 Released!

No reply from the other thread so I ask here... I have the P35DS4 with soft RAID of 3 hard disks... Intalled dsdt and new chameleon boot file...rebooted with out problems. So I thought that I can install 10.5.6, BIG Mistake... 10.5.6 install to 56%, then came half transparency screen which means system hang and requires hard reset. After that only work with "-x" and "-s".... So took out the reserve HD which has 10.5.4, booted with that and use Pacifist to install on to the RAID, checked that /Extra has AppleDecrypt.kext and Disabler.kext...removed AppleIntelCPU... kext file from the RAID... rebooted with the RAID, the system trying to boot then HDs of the RAID seems to gone to sleep after working hard for 3 mins :-) And it like that if I used -x og let it boot with default... Any suggestions on how to get the system to boot from RAID again ?!
