Dark_Elf
What have you done with AppleIntelCPUPowerManagement.kext and Disabler.kext?Thx! Before updating I installed AppleIntelCPUPowerManagement.kext from 10.5.5 combo update, then I installed Disabler.kext in order to not get kernel panics. I did this because the 10.5.6 setup freezes if it doesn't find the AppleIntelCPUPowerManagement.kext. smcpipint
Ok, up and running on my Maximus Formula (X38) based board: 1. I had previously installed EFI V9, and a DSDT file 2. Installed the update (not the Combo, just the incremental) 3. No boot - "Waiting for Root Device" - turns out that 10.5.6 update takes out AppleAHCIPort.kext and IOAHCIFamily.kext 4. Rebuilt the 10.5.6 AppleAHCIPort.kext to get the ICH9 controller recognized (Attached, also with other ICH7, ICH8 and ICH9 definitions), and installed 5. Boot, but with orange drive icons 6. Rebuilt the 10.5.6 IOAHCIFamily.kext to get rid of the orange icons (attached), and installed 7. Reinstalled Taruga V4 to get sound back 8. Installed AppleSMBIOSEFI_28 to get the Hardware Overview in System Profiler back So far everything works - shutdown, reboot, audio, etc But bottom line is that if you have a motherboard with ICH8 or later, good chance you will need to fix the AHCI kexts.... Ok, files now here: http://rapidshare.de/files/41153635/AHCI_Fix_10_5_6.zip.html Hope this helps...... MacUser2525
the update with the DSDT killed my setup died at 52% while updating. : ( You did not have the AppleIntelCPUManagement.kext loaded already when starting the update it is definitely needed to do it successfully. Nemes
After update the only thing broken is awaken from sleep. I hit the keyboard or mouse an the system starts, but only reboots. Ive tried the various openhalt kexts, but to no avail. Ive seen others have sleep issues as well. system - GA EP43 DS3L Q6600 retail install vanilla kernel dsdt .... Edit:Me three. GA-P35-DS3R Rev 1.0. I can shutdown OOB, and restart with the addtion of an OpenHaltRestart kext, but I can't sleep. Someone posted a mispackaged copy of OpenHaltRestart 1.0.3 that does fix my rebooting problems once corrected, but nothing fixes the sleep problems. Installing PC Wiz's old patched AppleACPIPlatform kext from 10.5.4 would probably do the trick, but it's not really an ideal way to go. Leoopardoo
Im having no problems playing mp3's using quicklook... Yes, I can play mp3's also using quicklook, VLC or Djay - I have issues only in iTunes - therefore I think it is somehow related to new nVidia drivers. rramon
Me three. GA-P35-DS3R Rev 1.0. I can shutdown, but I can't sleep or reboot. None of the OpenHalt kexts have made a difference. Installing PC Wiz's old patched AppleACPIPlatform kext from 10.5.4 would probably do the trick, but it's not really an ideal way to go. make it a four (specs@sig).. shutdown/restart is working oob, but machine restarts when waking from sleep. would apreciate a solution (modified 10.5.6 kext) for that Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/141093-1056-released/page/12/#findComment-1001150 Share on other sites

MacUser2525
Have tried almost everything - no luck so far. But it seems to happen on systems with nVidia 8x00 cards. Maybe it is somehow related to new GFX drivers. I am not getting any lag like others report but on my main monitor when I let it go to sleep not the machine I get a multi-coloured like static when I wake it and when going from a verbose boot to starting the graphics there is corruption just before the graphics starts. This does not happen in my test machine which I cloned this install too it has a 7900GS KO card this one has a 8800gt.
