amw_drizz
try booting with -s -x and manually removing the kexts that are giving you problem. I must have odd ball 9800 GTX since every nVidia GFX installer / GFX string I try they all fail... I've tried all the installers avalible, and I have also created GFX Strings for my card(s) (I have one pulled right now, and I still have the same problem) And yes I updated the GFX Strings to reflect only one card. Bettarg
Hello, i get my 9500GT to work with this , but there are another Problem now. I cant use my Mouse. It is soo lagy after i install this Drivers and the EFI string that u cant work with it. Any solution for this ? Thanks a lot ! Edit: k its not just the mouse, everthing is a bit slow. Even when i remove the EFI string and boot in Safemode everthings lag. The only way to solve this problem , delete every NVDA* File in the Extensions Folder. I give the orginal 10.5.6 kext a try, working great , but the Lag is the same. Now i have nothing more i can test. I have chose the 9500GT becouse i think it will working great with OSX , but i must learn that this is not so btw , sorry for my Bad english. Gringo Vermelho
I may try a fresh install if you can confirm your 9800GTX+ is working with full QE/CI and no artifacts. Yes, it's working perfectly...no extra steps needed. Nuclearx
I have installed this on my iatkos 4i (10.5.4) and after restart it gives me no error...But i can't install the driver pack it tells me i need 10.5.5 as minimum. So my problem is i can´t update to 10.5.5 because my system does not work after that. (i have tried some ways out) Can i install the drivers now manually? Now i have changed my version number manually to 10.5.5 /System/Library/CoreServices/Systemversion Than the install works but after restart, i must see that nothing has changed... (where can i see if installed correct?) Yet i only get graphic errors by moving windows... Is there no way to get my card working on 10.5.4? TheMechanic
Hey Aquamac, you are the resident GFX OSX86 expert. I have PC-EFIv9 and can't seem to be able to increase the resolution for the Grey apple during boot to 1600x1200. It stays at 800x600. I haven't found anyone address this and would love to know how you did it. Thanks! It's one of the minor issues remaining in my OSX86 retail install. Dbot73
Hey everybody First, thanks a ton for all of the useful info being shared. I built my first hackintosh about a month ago and the first 90% of the work was gravy, but the last 10% (especially the vid card) required a ton of research and this community has been invaluable. Now we're working on our third hackintosh amongst friends, so we're pretty happy with it :-) Question: I'm using an nVidia 9400GT w/ 512. I have QE/CI working, openGL looks good, DVD Player and VMWare Fusion all started working great after getting the card working. The only problem I noticed was some tearing sometimes, which also happens on my MacBook with the 9400m, so I wasn't that worried about it. It was most obvious in netflix streaming via Safari and DosBox games. Last night I saw that there was a Silverlight update available and installed it to see if it would fix the tearing when streaming netflix in Safari (it seems to have taken care of it!) and while I was testing I noticed that video stutters or pauses when I drag windows around. I thought it might be a silverlight issues so I launched a QT movie and noticed it was doing the same. I checked my MacBook (using basically the same nvidia chip) and video still played smoothly when dragging windows. Then I checked my Dual 2GHz G5 (way slower) and it also played smoothly while dragging windows. Has anyone else noticed this on 9 series cards using the driver package from this thread and EFI strings? Thanks!! -D Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/132089-nvidia-9-series-driver-installer-v2/page/13/#findComment-1104344 Share on other sites
Ed_Saxman
Thanks to Onj88 for finding this solution.... Finally got QE/CI working ...here`s the steps... 1) Installl Aquamac´s Nvidia 9000 series installer v.2 2) download nvinstaller v.52 from http://scottdangel.com/blog/?page_id=20 3) install nvinstaller and during installation choose 512mb ram option do not choose go/mobile option, it gives black screen. I can confirm this also worked on my HP dv3540es, with an 9300m GS. You can take a look at my posts here. Thank you Aquamac!!! itnahz
Have anyone successfully installed this in an nvidia 9400GT 512mb on leo 10.5.2? I tried doing it but after I restart my screen turned black. Tried to reboot and remove the nvidia drivers on safe mode but it's still there and can not be erased. Ended up reinstalling the OS. Any help in installing this on a 9400GT will greatly be appreciated. elbasofolous
this driver really delivers. my only gripe is that it breaks sleep, in a very subtle way - read my earlier post for details. the benefits and costs seem pretty consistent across 9800gt, gtx, and gtx+, bfg and evga however, it beats windows and nvinject(8800gts efi and/or nvinstaller vanilla or 512mb) in cinebench. I use cinebench because I use cinema4d, but I consider it a credible source for graphic board testing, I ran four tests each and here are the results 9seriesv2driver--- 7491..7505..7508..7468 / 4 = 7493 windows xp x86 driver182.08--- 6406..6363..6424..6347 / 4 = 6385 8800gts efi string + nvinject vanilla + nvi 512--- 7491..7523..7491..7458 = 7490.75 I'd like to add that in addition to winning in the benchmarks I ran, the fan speed was allowed to be controlled by the vbios as occurs with windows and linux (i do however feel that this is way to lax. Id not be surprised if i saw an overheat soon in any of these os's, but particularly leopard where temperature is not readable) so, maybe only four tests was not enough to determine a winner? if anyone really needs more bench's to be sure, hit me up. but in the couple days ive spent tinkering with different driver combinations, this driver wins in performance and quietness, which for me was worth trading sleep/wake for restart/shutdown for your reference, hardware used for benchmarks was- ud3r motherboard evga 9800gtx+ 512 graphic board q6600 @ 3.53 GHz 4GB ddr2 ocz reaper ~1045MHz thankyou to aquamac Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/132089-nvidia-9-series-driver-installer-v2/page/13/#findComment-1107352 Share on other sites

The other hackintoshes we built with the same hardware didn't exhibit the problem (good news.) I ended up running Quartz Debugger and found that while it was running the problem disappeared and framerates for the gui looked just like they should. I force quitted Quartz Debugger (don't know if normal quitting would have been sufficient, but I ran across some beamsync articles saying that force quitting would leave settings in place) and rebooted and everything has been smooth as silk since then. Quartz Debugger is a cool tool. If you haven't messed around with it, grab the developer kit from apple and you'll find it in the performance tools folder. -D Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/132089-nvidia-9-series-driver-installer-v2/page/13/#findComment-1108407 Share on other sites
aqua-mac
To anyone trying to get their boot screen "Apple" the right resolution, you need to include these 2 lines in your com.apple.boot.plist: (Input the native res of your monitor) <key>Graphics Mode</key> <string>1680x1050x32</string> See below how that fits in as a whole: (Below is not for 9800 GTX but is for 2 x GeForce GTX 280's in Snow Leo - Yes you read that right, Snow supports GTX 280, but it is not backwards compatible with Leopard.) <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?> <!DOCTYPE plist PUBLIC "-//Apple//DTD PLIST 1.0//EN" "http://www.apple.com/DTDs/PropertyList-1.0.dtd"> <plist version="1.0"> <dict> <key>Graphics Mode</key> <string>1680x1050x32</string> <key>Kernel</key> <string>mach_kernel</string> <key>Kernel Flags</key> <string></string> <key>Quiet Boot</key> <string>Yes</string> <key>device-properties</key> <string>960700000100000002000000c50300001500000002010c00d041030a000000000101060000010 01060000007fff040014000000400032002c006e0061006d00650000001100000073656e736f722d 06172656e74220000005600520041004d002c0074006f00740061006c00730069007a00650000000 0000000000004036000000400032002c00680077006300740072006c002d0070006100720061006d 073002d00760065007200730069006f006e00000008000000000000021c000000640065007600690 630065005f0074007900700065000000100000004e5644412c4765466f7263650e0000006e006100 d00650000000f0000004e5644412c506172656e7422000000400030002c006400650076006900630 65005f00740079007000650000000b000000646973706c6179100000006d006f00640065006c0000 01e0000004e5649444941204765466f72636520475458203238302044444c22000000400031002c0 6400650076006900630065005f00740079007000650000000b000000646973706c61791200000040 032002c007200650067000000080000000000000222000000400032002c006400650076006900630 65005f0074007900700065000000120000004e5644412c6770752d64696f64652000000040003200 c0063006f006d00700061007400690062006c0065000000160000004e5644412c73656e736f722d7 6172656e7422000000400032002c002300730069007a0065002d00630065006c006c007300000008 000000000000020000000400031002c0063006f006d00700061007400690062006c00650000000e0 00004e5644412c4e564d616314000000400030002c006e0061006d0065000000120000004e564441 c446973706c61792d413a000000400032002c0068007700730065006e0073006f0072002d0070006 00720061006d0073002d00760065007200730069006f006e00000008000000000000022600000040 032002c0023006100640072006500730073002d00630065006c006c0073000000080000000000000 14000000400031002c006e0061006d0065000000120000004e5644412c446973706c61792d422000 000400030002c0063006f006d00700061007400690062006c00650000000e0000004e5644412c4e5 4d61631e00000072006f006d002d007200650076006900730069006f006e00000009000000333137 261100000004e00560043004100500000001800000004000000000003000c0000000000000700000 000e0000004e00560050004d00000020000000010000000000000000000000000000000000000000 0000000000000c50300001500000002010c00d041030a000000000101060000060101060000007ff 040014000000400032002c006e0061006d00650000001100000073656e736f722d706172656e7422 000005600520041004d002c0074006f00740061006c00730069007a0065000000080000000000004 36000000400032002c00680077006300740072006c002d0070006100720061006d0073002d007600 5007200730069006f006e00000008000000000000021c0000006400650076006900630065005f007 007900700065000000100000004e5644412c4765466f7263650e0000006e0061006d00650000000f 000004e5644412c506172656e7422000000400030002c006400650076006900630065005f0074007 007000650000000b000000646973706c6179100000006d006f00640065006c0000001e0000004e56 9444941204765466f72636520475458203238302044444c22000000400031002c006400650076006 00630065005f00740079007000650000000b000000646973706c617912000000400032002c007200 50067000000080000000000000222000000400032002c006400650076006900630065005f0074007 00700065000000120000004e5644412c6770752d64696f646520000000400032002c0063006f006d 0700061007400690062006c0065000000160000004e5644412c73656e736f722d706172656e74220 0000400032002c002300730069007a0065002d00630065006c006c00730000000800000000000000 0000000400031002c0063006f006d00700061007400690062006c00650000000e0000004e5644412 4e564d616314000000400030002c006e0061006d0065000000120000004e5644412c446973706c61 92d413a000000400032002c0068007700730065006e0073006f0072002d0070006100720061006d0 73002d00760065007200730069006f006e000000080000000000000226000000400032002c002300 100640072006500730073002d00630065006c006c007300000008000000000000011400000040003 002c006e0061006d0065000000120000004e5644412c446973706c61792d4220000000400030002c 063006f006d00700061007400690062006c00650000000e0000004e5644412c4e564d61631e00000 72006f006d002d007200650076006900730069006f006e000000090000003331373261100000004e 0560043004100500000001800000004000000000003000c00000000000007000000000e0000004e0 560050004d0000002000000001000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000</string> </dict> </plist> Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/132089-nvidia-9-series-driver-installer-v2/page/13/#findComment-1108678 Share on other sites
kosibar
I used the installer and the Open GL framework to install my EVGA GeForce 9800GTX 512. I was getting terrible frame rates (about 85 FPS in the extensions viewer) before installing the Open GL framework. I got terrible FPS in World of Warcraft. Now WoW is amazing! One problem I'm having... I can't set my color calibration nor am I able to adjust gamma anywhere. I can get into the color calibration but when I move the sliders nothing changes. Anybody have any idea what is going on here? I'm running 10.5.5 from the Weaksauce Boot132 guide using a real Leopard DVD on a GA-EP35-DS3L. edit - there were a lot of "Class O3Panel is implemented in both ..." errors in my console which I thought were related but I took a chance and deleted /System/Library/MonitorPanels/AppleDisplay.monitorPanels and it neither created nor fixed any problems except that I no longer get those errors in the console. I used this driver package to get my 9400GT w/ 512 working and openGL appears to be working decently in the limited things I've thrown at it (itunes visualizer and the demo of Monster Trucks Nitro to test.) I didn't install the openGL framework seperately and am wondering if I would see improved framerates like you did. pilar
Hi, I just got a 9800gtx+ and used the installer, Im also using the latest graphics update on iatkos5i. Apparently if I use gfx strings(done the walkthrough, used the ones for 9800gtx) I cant get qe/ci, only if I use nvinject where I cant get it to see 512mb, only 256. Any ideas? Also, I used xbench and noticed that opengl was way faster with my previous card(7900gs 256mb). Again, any ideas? kosibar
Also, I used xbench and noticed that opengl was way faster with my previous card(7900gs 256mb). Again, any ideas? I'm no expert on the subject but here is what I did with a similar situation... First, I downloaded the "OpenGL Extensions Viewer": http://www.realtech-vr.com/glview/download.html When I ran that it said my renderer was "Nvidia Geforce Pre-Release Unknown OpenGL Engine" In one of aqua-mac's posts he provided a link to the OpenGL framework from 10.5.5. I'm running 10.5.5 from a retail DVD install (using the weaksauce guide) so I'm not sure why I didn't have it but installing that fixed the performace. You'll probably have to be running 10.5.5 for that to work. http://rapidshare.com/files/155602335/10.5...mework.zip.html I don't know about the inner workings but my guess is that I had an older version of the OpenGL framework which wasn't able to work with this card so it had to fallback to some kind of basic mode or something. (Again, just guessing.) The OpenGL Extensions Viewer gave me that "Nvidia Geforce Pre-Release Unknown OpenGL Engine" clue. Installing the OpenGL framework from one of aqua-mac's earlier posts must have provided the updates I needed to get my card recognized? Wish I could be more helpful. If you aren't getting QE/CI then I don't know how much my experience will help you. I had QE/CI in 10.5.4 then started fresh with 10.5.5 and still had QE/CI with the gfx strings. If you get it working, would you see if you can calibrate your color? pissedoffdude
Hey guys, I just found another way to get QE/CI working on the 9800m GTS. Firstly do note that I have only tried this on iDeneb v1.4 10.5.6 and iPC OSX86 10.5.6 Universal PPF5 Final and BOTH work. After a clean install: 1. Install aquamacs 9000 v2 drivers. Restart computer. 2. Install NVDarwin 1.2.5 with 1024mb VRAM selected. Restart again. 3. Go to /system/library/extensions and input the correct device id of the 9800m GTS in all of these files: NVDANV50HAL.kext NVDARESMAN.kext NVDARESMANPPC.kext NVDARWIN.kext 4. What I have done is just insert the device id in the info.plist of all the above files. To get to the info.plist just right click and select show package contents. Now the above part you can do manually or just download the files I have attached and use kexthelperb7 to install these 4 files. 5. Then, use OSX86tools and repair permissions and clear the cache. Restart and voila working QE/CI. Don't forget to enable Quarts GL in OSX86Tools as well. Only thing is that it doesn't show the name of the video card in the about this mac... option. But other than that it is working wonderfully. Figured this out just by playing around here and there and it just worked. Don't know whether it yields better FPS than the method onj88 mentioned. Try it. 6. Oh, you do not need to edit the com.apple.boot.plist file at all. Just delete the efi string if you did edit it. Just a note to backup your original files just in case it does not workout for you. Here's the link: modified kext P.S. You can try this method with other NVIDIA 9000 series cards if you still can't get QE/CI but don't use my kexts instead just edit and input the device id inside. No guarantees about this though because I only tried it with my 9800m GTS 1024MB version. Thank you so much! I finally got my 9600gt up and running.
