Mh I was waiting for the day that the 9600 GT will work on my Hackintosh. So I was really happy reading this. I followed the instructions step by step:

-editing info.plist of NVDANV50Hal.kext (same device ID as generalmilk's)

-copying all NEEDED kexts in the Extensions folder (with kext helper)

-added an Efi-String with OSX86Tools

But after the reboot the scenerio was still more badly than before (lagging cursor, no QE/CI, no resolution change and window - shifting was greyful)

Am I doing something wrong? Or can someone upload his boot.plist (0x0622)

Specs:

Q6600

Gigabyt G31

9600 GT (0x0622; 512MB)

3Gb RAM

I had a problem with OSX86Tools generating a bad efi-string. I did the other method and have a working card. I also added my devid to nvdaresman but i don't think I needed to. You may want to go into safeboot unload the kexts, repair permissions and reload the kexts.

thanks rumblpak i will try after reinstall of leopard and update to 10.5.5 finished. but I don't think I will get a working card.

but i will report back

big thx

I got anoher problem.... After the 10.5.5 update leopard just freeze after loginwindowapplication started. So I could only start in safe mode. hope for some replies :-)

The .zip seems to work a charm on my 9800GTX + 10.5.5 :)

Fan kicks in on bootup, then slows down again, hoping it'll keep it high enough to keep cool though :)

Hmm, so I wonder if there's a way to control the fan also now <.< Mayby by some console magic ? :)

I was worried about my card as the fan didn't appear to be spinning up enough as I was playing games, so I've disconnected the blue wire to force the fan to run 100%.

1. First, download the update directly from Apple’s website. You can grab 10.5.5 at http://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/appl...1055update.html

2. Before you run the downloaded file, open up Terminal and type “sudo su -” without the quotes. Enter your user password and then type :

“while sleep 1 ; do rm -rf /System/Library/Extensions/AppleIntelCPUPowerManagement.kext ; done”

without the quotes.

3. Keep this window open while you run the downloaded update and install it

4. Before you reboot, exit the Terminal script by holding down Ctrl and pressing X (Ctrl + X). Close Terminal and hit the button on the Update to reboot your computer.

5 Done

i cant exit terminal by ctrl + x. im using kalyway

Got a 9600 GT - 512mb - installed the new drivers (tried both the zip and the package kindly uploaded), then using osx86tools, inserted the EFI string.

Can only boot up in safe mode, and then change resolution (CI/QE not working) - booting normally, I get to the infamous bluescreen, and then black screen - mouse still working. I have checked that the display is connected to the right port, etc. Any ideas?

Also - question - the device has 2 DIV ports out, but is connected to a VGA screen through a connector. Do I use DVI or VGA?

Thanks

@ TD_D: Use dvi - dvi while generating EFI string

@ saykoseko : Copy kext to the desktop, right click-> show package contents, open plist file with text editor, modify,

install with kexthelper and repair perimissions.

@ Command to quit script in terminal is Ctrl + C (AFAIK)

Only could boot in safe-mode ( -x ) after updating to 10.5.5 from a working Leo4Allv2.

But this fixed the booting issue on top of getting QE/CI. Great job! Thanks a lot.

Success with Gigabyte 9600GT 512MB!

1. Run the installer linked in this thread:

I just made an installer for the NVIDIA 9 Series Drivers taken from the new Macbookpro Update. Download it here:

http://rapidshare.com/files/155562098/NVID...rivers.zip.html

10.5.5 minimum requirement I would think.

2. Open System/Library/Extensions/NVDANV50Hal.kext/Contents/Info.plist (with nano, not

textedit) and change

0x062010de&0xffe0ffff

to

0x062210de&0xffe0ffff

Save (CTRL-O) and exit.

3. Use OSX86Tools to create EFI-string:

Click "Add EFI Strings/Boot Flag". "GFX Strings", "Custom GeForce hex".

Select a device name, amount of memory and VGA/DVI configuration.

NB :

-Don't reboot after installing "aqua-mac" s package.

-Instead of copying the string and editing boot.plist manually, I just "imported the string" ( a command inside OSX86Tools) as noted by Alega in Post #91.

Is there a correct way to get the 9600GT cards working?

There are at least 3 methods described on this thead. And for some users it may be difficult to understand!

There is only one method here, though tools to accomplish it vary.

-Copy the necessary Nvidia kexts in "Extensions"

-Edit Info.plist in NVDANV50Hal.kext

-Insert hex string in "boot.plist"

That's all. Everyone's instructions are ok. You choose. You can't go wrong if you do what I did 2 posts earlier.

Thanks Satyr - well, I've tried all the options, and Dvi - Dvi is the only one that even allows me to boot up in safe mode!

So - I've followed the exact process, the driver is definitely loading - because I can change resolution to 1440 x 900, and NVDAN50 shows as loaded. Efi strings inserted into boot.plist using osx86tools, and still - black screen once it goes into the login routine...

Hi again - the problem definitely seems to be with the display / display type - loads under the kext, but not picking up the display connector...

What wire? Could you take a photo and post it please.

Anyone having issues when resuming from sleep? Whenever I do, my monitor doesn't wake. It stays in standby mode, but the rest of the system wakes.

I have my system in S3 mode and that "Load VGA BIOS on S3 resume" in my BIOS set to auto.

Does anyone have any sugestions?

Sorry for the quality of photo. If needed I'll try and do another one.

You are looking at the rear of the card (DVI ports being the front) and you can make out the white plug for the fan. This has some coloured wires going into it. You need to remove the blue wire - this is the fan signal and controls the fan speed. Removing it causes the fan to spin 100% at all times

Do you have your monitor plugged into the monitor socket on the left (as if you are looking at the back of the case) that is, the port closest to the motherboard.
