So, I've tried to do this with the various methods described in this post. 1) The extensions supplied in the first post. 2) Using aqua-mac's installer. 3) Using the nvinstaller for 10.5.5. HOWEVER, I have the same problem with ALL of them. They'll all boot fine and everything is normal, but I have NO QE/CI, as shown by the attached image. And yes, I did insert the EFI String into the boot.plist using osx86tools.

 

What could be causing this? Could it be a bad EFI string? I mean it's so weird, because it loads fine without any errors, however, there just is no QE/CI. Please let me know what to do to fix this...

Yes, but any ideas as to why I can't get QE/CI using either EFI Strings or NVdarwin?

I'm on the 9600GT, which works now, but not totally. In the majority of the 3d stuff, the system just freezes. See for examples the demos on scen.org:

For example, the first one in that list 'Pulzus', just freezes my system when i start it. It works ok on my macbook. On my PC however, it freezes at the 'options' screen already ! Do you guys have that too ? If so, any thoughts why this is happening ?

thank you, but when I try to load kext whit

sudo -s

kextload -t /System/Library/Extensions/GeForce.kext

 

it return an error:

kextload: extensions /System/Library/Extensions/GeForce.kext appears to be loadable

 

end the pc is blocked :(

In the fist point, which is the installer linkef in this thread?

In the second step, when i open that with nano, i find it completely empty! Am i doing anything wrong?

Success with Gigabyte 9600GT 512MB!

1. Run the installer linked in this thread

2. Open System/Library/Extensions/NVDANV50Hal.kext/Contents/Info.plist (with nano, not

textedit) and change

 

0x062010de&0xffe0ffff

to

0x062210de&0xffe0ffff

 

Save (CTRL-O) and exit.

3. Use OSX86Tools to create EFI-string:

 

Click "Add EFI Strings/Boot Flag". "GFX Strings

 

Open Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/com.apple.Boot.plist with the "sudo nano"

command and enter the HEX-data:

 

<key>device-properties</key>

<string>paste the EFI-string here</string>

 

Save the file (CTRL-O) and exit.

 

Repair permissions and clear the kext cache (can be done using OSX86Tools), and reboot.

A couple of problems I experienced:

 

Freeze at the gray apple when rebooting, maybe with half the screen turning dark gray:

good evening.

 

i got my 9800m GTS 512mb DDR3 working with AquaMacs installer and nvdarwin 1.2.4

now i installed call of duty 4 native for mac and damn the performance is bad. i think it have to be around 20 fps. this card gets 10.000 3d 06 marks.

 

any solution?

 

cinebench score is also at only 4499 points, i think it has something to do with the drivers. maybe nvdarwin?

I'm on the 9600GT, which works now, but not totally. In the majority of the 3d stuff, the system just freezes. See for examples the demos on scen.org:

For example, the first one in that list 'Pulzus', just freezes my system when i start it. It works ok on my macbook. On my PC however, it freezes at the 'options' screen already ! Do you guys have that too ? If so, any thoughts why this is happening ?

 

Works fine for me.

I did the iDeneb 10.5.5 v1.3 + Aquamac package + NVDarwin 1.2.3 + carbon fix for iDeneb v1.3 install.

How many people on here have successfully installed this on their 9xxx laptop?

I'm interested in getting a p-7811 fx laptop if I find full compatibility.Its on the wiki but I hope that the card reader works too(I know but some gateways do).I want to know which model laptop and graphics card.

What does NVDarwin exactly do ? And did you edit stuff yourself ? How did you add the EFI string etc ? Could you please explain in detail since you seem the only one in this topic with a really succesful 9600 install (e.g. your system doesn't hang when you start that demo I posted, http://www.freshmindworkz.hu/demoscene/dow...us_prefinal.zip ).

I don't know what NVDarwin does exactly, but running that requires me to do absolutely nothing with EFI string settings. I didn't have to do any plist editing either. Nor ktext copying.

Thanks for your explanation. I think I will just entirely re-install the whole OS and do exactly what you did. BTW: I remember when installing NVDarwin that I could select some options (like install original Apple KEXT files, install modded kext files etc). Do you remember which ones you selected ? And last: what videocard do you have exactly ? Thanks again for your help.
