Thanks for your explanation. I think I will just entirely re-install the whole OS and do exactly what you did. BTW: I remember when installing NVDarwin that I could select some options (like install original Apple KEXT files, install modded kext files etc). Do you remember which ones you selected ? And last: what videocard do you have exactly ? Thanks again for your help.

On NVDarwin, ONLY choose your memory size. You do not need to select anything else. So if you have 512MB, only check that box. Do not worry about any KEXTs.

I have emTek 9600GT 512MB. Full detail is in my signature below.

But I think it's a Palit card. They tend to rebadge cards in Korea.

beriguu, I did exactly what steps were from your post. Installed iDeneb 10.5.5 v1.3 restarted in safe mode. Installed the aquamac v2 drivers. rebooted into normal mode, installed NVdarwin 1.2.3 for 512 cards and restarted again. It says in system prefs that QE/CI are supported and even says 9600GT, however when I play a game that runs in a window or full screen it's either a black window or a bank screen and I have to hard restart the machine. The screen effects and animations are accelerated and I get full resolution changes. Any ideas?

Sorry, I haven't encountered those problems you listed. I wouldn't know where to start to help you.

Maybe a resident guru can help?

BTW - Did you run the carbon lib patch for iDeneb v1.3? I don't know if that'll help.

Well, my system is:

- Motherboard Gigabyte GA 8i945GZME-RH with Pentium D Processor and 1gb of memory.

- XFX GeForce 9600 GT 512mb

The version that I use was iDeneb 1.3 10.5.5 with Kernel 9.4.0 (is not vanila) and I used the topic tips, so I have change resolutions and fan control.

But I Don`t have QI and CE Hardware Acceleration.

Anybody have a tip to this hardware?!?!

P.S. When I try to decompress the Extensions.tgz, It is returning a error. So I decompress at Linux with tar, but with Errors. Do Anybody had this problem too? Could it be corrupt?

Thanks

Yahoo!. Finally I did it. Now I have QI and CE full. My way was:

1 - Fresh Install iDeneb v1.3 10.5.5 with Kernel 9.4.0 and all my hardware support.

2 - Boot with -x (safe mode) and install NVIDIA 9000 Series Driver v2 and NVDarwin 1.2.4 packages (choose 512mb option).

3 - Reboot and smile. :D

The link`s packages needed are in thread.

Sorry my bad english. ^_^

Hi generalmilk,

may I need your help. Tried today to install my sparkle passive cooled 9600 GT 512MBwith yout EFI method.

Did everythink step by step, but was not successful!!!

The card works fine with the NVIDIA9000_Driver Package and the NVdarwin 1.2.4 Package.

Unfortunatly I need the EFI Install cause of my Monitor Calibration Software which does not work with Injekted Drivers!

Can you please give me some tipps?

Here is what I did:

I cloned a fresh install (nor graphic drivers - only 10.5.5 original kexts and the from Leo 10.5.5 and the patched kext for my motherboard) to an empty disk.

Booted into that disk -v -x

Changed the device ID in ...Hal50.kext

Created EFI Boot String via OSX86 Tools.

Installed the EFI String to apple.com.bootlist

Repaired Permissions via EFI Tools.

Restart - no success.... Screen greys down to the half while booting an stucks.....

:-(

Tried it in diffrent ways with diffrent editors and Tool. Nano, PLIST Editor, etc.

Don't know what to do right now.

So mybe I did something wrong?!

Do i hvae to install the kexts from your package? I think cause i have a clean 10.5.5 cloned, I do not need to install the kexts from rumblepackage!?

Help would be very nice,

BR derpuma

Copy on the Desktop, change, save, copy back. Repair permissions. -_-

For you 9600GT? I did not edit ID, all works.

oh really? coz mine didn't work eventhough I skip the change ID step..:)

Is it has to be run in 10.5.5?

I've tried so many methods but still unable to upgrade to 10.5.5...stuck on booting...

my bfg oc2 9600 512mo works good ( with quartz and opengl loaded as well ) but I 've got a dark screen when I play a game and I must reboot my pc. I use vga to dvi adapter, can it be the reason of this black screen?

I know there was a black screen issue with new macbooks and nvidia chips, concerning this black screen, do you think it is a driver issue?

I just wanted to send my 9600gt drivers ,everything configured, with "how to"

just in case that it would maybe help some of you... just try it :)

Hi there,

I have installed the AquaMac package, and then NvDarwin, but when I restart I get a black screen, and my monitor changes into a resolution that I believe my monitor can't handle. I've tried safe mode (-x) also, but I get the same thing.

**Just a quick edit, I have now installed AquaMac, then change the info.plist file, then imported kexts with the program, then used osx86tools to add the string. I even set the string to load in a resolution that my monitor could support, but it still loadded in 1280x1024, which it seems is just a blank screen.**

Using iATKOS 5i, 10.5.5...

Any help would be well appreciated...

did you try to edit your com.boot.plist file?

just add this to /system/library/preferences/system configuration/com.apple.Boot.plist

<key>Graphics Mode</key> <string>1280×1024×32</string>

just replace <string>1280×1024×32</string> with what you want

exemple : <string>1024x768×32</string>
