Hi Luki1979,

after googling and searching a long time to get my new graphic card "Colorful G210 512 MB" to work with 10.6.2 i just made the steps "rogabean" has listed up: http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php...489&st=460#

The only thing, what should be told more accurate is how to export your rom (BIOS) file from your new graphic card.

I have found two solutions for this:

  1. 1. "NVFlash" does not work within windows, you have to boot up from DOS!!!!!!!!! Create a floppy DOS-boot-disc (or bootable USB-Stick via HP-USB-tool --> see the link at the bottom) via Windows XP, 7 or Vista: Right-Click within windows on your inserted floppy disc --> format... --> activate the choice "create DOS boot floppy". Afterwards copy the to files from your downloaded "NVFlash.zip" (look always for the newest version for safe) additionally to the root of the floppy disc. Start up from that DOS boot floppy --> a:\nvflash.exe --save SomeNameForYourCard.rom
  2. 2. Download "GPU-Z" --> click at the symbol in the line of "BIOS version" --> you receive a *.bin file, which has exactely the same size compared to *.rom file generated by NVFlash

A german howto:

HowTo (in German)

If you need my EFI-String, just let me know, but it is always the best to do this on your own (it's really no big deal).

I also got 210, great to see that is working for you. Could you do little guide for newbie like me.

I had PC all my life, I don't know how to dump BIOS, run NVCAP and create an EFI string.

This is last thing I'm missing.

Thank you

Edit Nevermind I got it working after 10.6.3 update

Hi ogr

There is a GT240M driver over at kexts.com which seems to have quite some success. Just check the long list of URL's at the bottom of the driver's page. :NVidia GT240M Mac OS X Snow Leopard driver

And : http://tonymacx86.com/viewtopic.php?f=34&a...2&view=next

Also, the Myhack installer is reported to be successful with the GT240M. :

I've installed the latest official GTX285 mac kexts for the card (by extracting them with Pacifist and installing with Kext Helper)

And I also generated an EFI HEX string, using this tutorial

Currently I have very bad resolution and no QE/CI

Do I need an injector? Do I need these kexts at all?

People say they have this card running with an EFI string alone. I can't find a tutorial on this anywhere, (believe me, I've been searching for 2 days).

I really don't know anymore, and any help would be appreciated.

Thanks for your fast answer InToGraphics!

I have already tried these kexts but they don't work at all.

Using iAtkos I have been able to make it work in this way:

Drivers -> VGA -> Nvidia -> Nvidia GT200 EVGA

Enabler_for_Nvidia_cards.pkg

I have done some tests with Snow Leopard 10.6.3 and the best of all was to use ATY_init.kext.

I had QE/CI but the notebook worked slowly, then I tried to change the Vanilla kernel into Legacy kernel for 10.6.3 and it worked quite well but I don't like this kernel.

I don't remember if I did a test in 32bit

@ogr Could you do a test in 32 bit?

See post #541 above.

Is no one using 2 monitors plugged into one GTX 2xx card ?

yes, galaxy gt240. recognized by GraphicsEnabler=y in AsereBLN fork of chameleon. one monitor connected to dvi port, one connected to hdmi port. works fine as far as i can tell. no efi string whatsoever.

edit: running 10.6.3. monitor on dvi port is apple 30", monitor on hdmi port is some random 1600x1200 monitor, rotated 90 degrees.

Well the other notebooks (with success) were other brands.

Maybe Acer did something funky with their GT240M. Which I hope not.

I'll keep am eye out for this.

That's good news, but I'm looking for 2 x DVI-I. I need to drive 2 x 30" monitors.

AsereBLN replied once at efixusers forum that his GTX 260 worked out of the box with the GraphicsEnabler switch set to yes, but never confirmed if both DVI-I ports were operational.

BTW, I also use the AsereBLN fork of the Chameleon booter.

I'll probably try to buy a second hand GTX 260 with 2 x DVI-I, and try to sweet talk the owner into letting me try the card with my 2 monitors in Snow Leopard first.

Cursor not updating / Random artifacts, Nvidia GTX280 (EVGA)

Currently I'm using Nvenabler 64 on 10.6.3.

Symptoms:

- Cursor sometimes does not update. For example, if you hover over text it turns to selection, when you hover over the desktop it's a pointer. Mine sometimes stays as the text selection cursor.

- Random graphic glitches. Finder buttons become differently colored than normal, menubar becomes completely transparent.

Anyone know what could be causing this? I've used nvinject and the errors seem to go away, but animation isn't as smooth (fade-ins when using grid stacks on the dock).

Have you connect the Card via DVI ?

Connect it ONLY via VGA an try again. In my Case it worked .

I use a Zotac GTS250 1024MB. Blank screen at all, until i connect it to vga Port solo.

@ALL: In the End I use a dsdt.aml to work with my gts250 and my Mainboard.

Is there a solution to use the DVI Port ?? Must i change the nvcap Values ?

Just a quick update since I noticed the note about Chameleon RC5 Pre12 and it's updated Graphics support. I still find for the problematic Geforce 210 that Graphics Enabler does not properly work and had to revert back to my previous solution under 10.6.3.

Thanks, Lemur! For the record, I picked up a Sparkle GeForce GT 240 1024MB DDR3 that I have running 2 displays (one on VGA, one on DVI) but without Quartz Extreme using Chameleon 2.0 RC4 with GraphicsEnabler set to yes. Installing RC5 prerelease 12 as you suggested finally got Quartz Extreme working. The only thing is that the system profiler still reports VRAM (Total) as being 512MB instead of the full 1024MB. Anyone know if there's a fix?

I don't think there is an easy fix. It is probably somewhere in Chameleon RC5's source code. You might be able to change it there, recompile and reinstall chameleon--but that is a lot of work for something that probably won't make a difference ;)

edit: in fact, I don't think it matters at all. I believe I read somewhere that all 1024 MB are still addressable...but I don't remember now... :D

really? I found any other solution a miserable failure for my 210, only this worked. To each his own I guess.

I connect via VGA because I am on a laptop, thus no DVI. I haven't tried HDMI either, but it is recognized so I think it should work.

That's a different card. I'm referring to the desktop Geforce 210.

I have the unfortunate dishonor of owning the absolute worst 24" 1080P monitor in all of human history - the Westinghouse L2410NM. It doesn't play nice with the GTX 260 card I have and I have to modify the EDID strings in the display config when running Linux or Windows. It's so far played nice with Snow Leopard up until the point I updated to 10.6.3 - now the display looks like {censored}. I need to know the correct config plist so I can add the EDID strings to fix the image. Can anybody tell me where to find it?
