Rammjet
whats ppc? PPC = PowerPC, the processor Mac ran on before switching to Intel. Since they use a different instruction set, they run under the PPC emulator called Rosetta. iTunes on SSE2 computers give the out of memory error and forcing the iTunes app to be a PPC app solves the memory problem. Apple doesn't make any SSE2 computers, so they are not providing for them in software and as a result, some apps on SSE2 are having trouble. Pug306Break
I am using two SATA hard drives. I just installed MacOSX on my 80gig. It works, but I can't get any of my hardware to work (i.e. network card, sound card, graphics card, etc...) I guess all I need is some kind of drivers but I have no idea where to get them. I used the JaS 10.4.6 install dvd I found on The Pirate Bay. My specs: Intel D865GBF Motherboard 1gb DDR memory Intel Pentium 4 2.26GHz Processor (SSE2) Creative Audigy II Sound Card NVIDIA GeForce FX 5900XT Graphics Card Netgear WG311v2 Wireless Network Card So, maybe my HD, cuz it´s 1HD with 250Gb and it just shows (during install) the DVD drive to select... maybe i´ll try VMware install version. radan
Iam very proud to say: I did it! 1. Name of the ISO you used, with version number. Jas 10.4.6 2. Your PC specs. Intel Centrino 2,0Ghz 1gig(2x512) ram. 2 mb cache. 100gig HDD 3. Anything else you want to share. A great guide! But i had to boot in vmware, but followed your guide according to Acronics, installing and so on. very good help! Qweedle Guy
I posted this is an older thread but I think it got overlooked so I'll post it here.. I bought a WG311T. MacOS X detects it in the Network Utilities dialog as a Wireless Network Card (or something to that effect). I also have the airport icon in the finder bar, but it's empty. So it seems to be detecting the device, but how can I make it work? I tried following the tutorial found in this post, but I keep getting the error that the extensions cannot be used. But when I just replace IO80211Family.kext with the one from the 10.4.5 update from apple, the airport icon appears in the system tray, but I can't get it to work. EDIT: I forgot to mention that in System profile, under PCI Cards it shows my device as an ethernet adapter, but not in Network Utilities (see above) SCREENSHOT: Edited December 22, 2006 by Qweedle Guy Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/11339-howto-xp-osx-1044-1048-native-dual-boot/page/58/#findComment-260067 Share on other sites

bitchslapper
Hello Everyone, I just got my mac running ... yay! would now have loads of stuff to do over vacation. My system specs: Dell Inspiron 6400, Core Duo 2500 @ 2Ghz, 2 Gigs of Ram, 100 Gigs HDD, x1400 ATI I used the following image: Mac_OS_X_10.4.6_x86_Install_DVD_(JaS) There are few things I still have to get right. My x1400 needs to be configured I believe, I need it running at 1680x1050. I'd start reading the guides now. Also, my wireless is Dell Draft N. It works great with ndiswrapper, so need to figure if it will work with mac. Also, the response time to menu clicks and combo box clicks is really slow (takes like a second to open), probably once my mac starts running on something non-VESA those things would fix. Thanks for the wonderful tutorial here, everything just ran as mentioned. No problems at all. Well, I had one small problem, I chose, while starting up for the time, that I connect to the internet through my lan(ethernet). this made my mac hang (proabably it was looking for DHCP responses, it could have timed out, but who had the patience). I had to restart and select (I do not connect to the internet). Once I did that, everything ran fine and mac booted perfectly. Thanks everyone, Happy Holidays, bitchslapper Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/11339-howto-xp-osx-1044-1048-native-dual-boot/page/58/#findComment-261247 Share on other sites
Tydude4Christ
Hello I tried this installation, key word being tried and when OS X is installing randomly or so it appears the installation just freezes and nothing happens. The freezes have been happening in different points in the installation never the same point so far. I've tried two different iso's now and stil it freezes 2-3 minutes into the installation. I'm not sure if this problem has been posted in the past but 72 pages are just a little too many for me look for a solution to which has never been made. Thanks for your time and help. Qweedle Guy
Well I got everything working! I'm on my mac right now ha. I installed it on a separate hard drive rather than a separate partition so I didn't have to load acronis anymore. I have a question though, I'm using the MacVidia drivers becuase I have an nVidia GeForce FX 5900XT, but of course I have no hardware acceleration. The Titan drivers support QE/CI/GL so I want to use them. Do they work under 10.4.6, or do I have to upgrade to 10.4.8? Can I even upgrade to 10.4.8 on a SSE2 processor? Pug306Break
Tydude4Christ, same to me before i got it... well, try: - if your HD is SATA, then i recommend VMWare installation version... - if you´re installing via VMWare, try to configure just 1 processor, instead of 2. send more info if i cant get it... From there, open up the case for your computer, and take the slave harddrive cables and attatch them to one cd/dvd drive. This worked for me, I hope it works for you. I am only having troubles with the internet.
