jchaike
omg this worked great. I have a problem with the ethernet but im working on how to fix that. I fixed my problem by plugging in a USB mouse and keyboard. Mac OSX 10.4.6 JaS iso AMD Athlon 64 chip E-machine T2596 (was originally a Celeron chip, but the mobo died so i replaced it with a AMD mobo) Everything except the internet works I have tried using the built in Ethernet, but that failed, and now I found an old ethernet device so i am trying that now. It is a NC100 Linksys. I found the tulip driver on Wikipedia (horray wiki!!) and now i am attempting to learn how to use this tulip driver. Rammjet
In Customize, you must click the little arrow beside the patches category and choose packages for your computer. Choose Intel or AMD, not both. Choose SSE2 or SSE3, not both, depending upon the capability of your processor. Choose the Combo update to end up with 10.4.7. Choose other packages only if you are sure your computer can use them. http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?act...ost&id=4499 Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/11339-howto-xp-osx-1044-1048-native-dual-boot/page/57/#findComment-256328 Share on other sites

cmdshft
Ok, I've tried this a third time on a third version (DVD- Mac-OS-X-10.4.7-AMD.Intel-(JaS)-ISO-Repack) and I am still having problems installing. When I am 3/4 done, it tells me that there was a problem with the installation and that I should restart and retry. I've done this 3 times, and still can't even get done with the installation. And I've burned the ISO at the lowest speeds, on DVD-R media, and installed by using the DVD-ROM and HDD on the same IDE cable. I guess I should note that they are both set to slaves on that cable, and I do not let the system detect my master HDD and master DVD-ROM. Maybe I should switch the jumpers? Also, how can I use VMware to install to my second HDD (the slave) and then ghost it to be native? Rammjet
Two slaves!!! You always have one master and one slave. Set the hard drive to master and the DVD drive to slave using jumpers. cmdshft
Ok, I set the hardrive to master, and the DVD-ROm to slave, disabled a few extra's from installing, and it installed, then restarted after doing the optimization. After reboot, it could not load the operating system. I tried seeing if Acronis could find it, but it cant see it either. I also tried adding "C:\chain0="Mac OS X86" to my boot.ini file, which doesn't seem to work. I also tried booting directly to the drive with my BIOS's boot selecter, and all I get is a blinking underscore (_). (after booting into Terminal off of the installation DVD) How can I fix this? EDIT:>> I figured it out through the VMware method, and it works great. Rammjet
To boot to Windows, you need to open up the OSX/Darwin bootloader by setting the Timeout parameter. After doing that, whenever you boot, just press any key when it asks and you will see a bootloader. Select Windows in the bootloader and press Enter. My Babe Abe
When I try and Erase the partition I created I get the "Could not read partition map" error. I've been looking to see what could be causing it and the only thing I can find that would cause it is if the partition is on a logical or extended partition or behind one. But I set mine up as Fat32 Primary behind my Windows and before my backup like the guide says. I formatted it using partitionmagic initailly to get the partitions in the correct order, but after it didn't work I thought I should go back and format the partition using Acronis. That didn't work either. So now I'm trying to figure out where to go next. Qweedle Guy
I am using two SATA hard drives. I just installed MacOSX on my 80gig. It works, but I can't get any of my hardware to work (i.e. network card, sound card, graphics card, etc...) I guess all I need is some kind of drivers but I have no idea where to get them. I used the JaS 10.4.6 install dvd I found on The Pirate Bay. Qweedle Guy
It runs very nice. I downloaded the MacVidia driver and it works great. Also I plugged my speakers into my mainboard's onboard sound card and that works too! Now all I need to do is get the internet working and I'm all set. But there is one small problem...Every now and then, pretty much just randomly, the system hangs for no apparent reason. I have no idea what could be causing this. EDIT: Oh yea I forgot to mention, I installed iTunes 7 but when I try to run it, I get a "not enough available memory to launch" error. But I have 2 512mb sticks of RAM and OSX detects both sticks. iTunes 6 works fine, though.
