  1. [HELP] Kalyway 10.5.2 -> 10.5.6

    okay, so i just finished updating to 10.5.6 again... i forgot to mention i updated to that chameleon boot loader. i followed this guide: http://insanelymac.blogspot.com/2008/12/up...5x-to-1056.html i was able to reboot, and my computer didnt auto restart when i got to the bootloader. instead, i am not STUCK on the apple boot screen. there is no spinning circle, it is just frozen.. my caps keys and stuff on the keyboard will not work.... PLEASE help, i am so close!!
  2. Okay, so this has been bugging the HELL out of me. I have tried so hard to find my answers, to not post on here, but I have no choice now. I have been trying to upgrade to 10.5.6, sometimes even trying to simply settle for 10.5.5. I am using Kalyway 10.5.2, and used to have it on 10.5.5 (I was stupid and accidentally upgraded to 10.5.6 before reading any instructions). I was using the Pre-Update and Post-Update Patches for 10.5.5 update after doing the combo update. When I tried doing those patches, they wouldn't work this time. I finally decided to simply download 10.5.6 installs. NONE of them worked. I tried xXx Leopard 10.5.6, iPC 10.5.6, and iDeneb v 1.4 for 10.5.6... Only Kalyway 10.5.2 works for me. I have tried 10.5.2 -> 10.5.6 like 16 times (no joke), and each time it either stops in the middle and gives me this picture: or simply restarts. My most recent install, I was able to use that script to delete that CPUIntel.kext thing, and i was able to get through the upgrade install completely through, and delete the Dont steal this Mac.kext and i replaced it with something like dmsos.kext. I restarted my computer, and when it showed hte Darwin Bootloader, it started going, and restarted immediately. I wasn't even given the chance to see the Mac Boot Screen =[ As I type this, my 10.5.2 just finished installing... yet again.. If anybody can help me, it would be awesome... I have an MPC Xeon Dual Core Processor with 3ghz I have an ATI Radeon 3600 HD (PCI-E) 2gb of ram uhh i think thats really all you guys need to know i guess... if theres anything oyu guys need tell me.... Any help is greatly appreciated (and soon =P) thanks again --jchaike
  3. Loginwindow.app Crash

    Basically, my LoginWindow.app will NOT start up. If you want more detailed information, read below: Alright, so my mac was working pretty well...I couldn't get things like Front Row, or PhotoBooth to open, but that was okay. I found out that my NVida GeForce 2300 GS would work well in Hackintosh, so I dug it out, and Mac booted up well. I opened that OSX86 Tool, and it found the GeForce driver for me (yay!), and I installed it. I restarted my computer soon after using the OSX86 Tool to install the kext driver. After restarting, I noticed that the driver didn't really do anything. And I figured now that I have a compatible OSX Video Card, I'll try getting the Finder transparency to work. I found a download of some software that was supposed to enable the transparency in the Finder Bar, and the install failed. I figured nothing was modified. I went about using my Mac for another 30-40 minutes, and decided I would try just one more time to run PhotoBooth. After trying to run Photobooth, and it appeared in my dock, start bouncing, and then disappear, I decided to go to System preferences to see what was up. Even System Preferences crashed! I figured, okay, nothing a good old reboot couldn't fix. Man was I wrong! Mac started to boot up (I am NOT dual booting, just running Hackintosh ONLY), and it took a really long time to start up. (I was not in verbose mode). I figured something was wrong, and I held down the power button until it turned off. I turned it back on and decided to run verbose mode...I promptly typed -v and verbose flew accross my screen. After a succesfull boot I starred at my mouse with a blue background for a few seconds, and to my disappointment, the screen turned black and a white "|" came up on my screen. The message said something like this: /System/Library/Core Services/loginwindow.app/Contents/MacOS/loginwindow[xxx] Login window application started. Just so you know, XXX varried between different numbers like 222, 229, 249, and 256 Then it would go back to the mouse on the screen and then flash back to the same error message. Some other messages came up, but disappeared so fast I was unable to write them down. Because I am not running another OS with my Hackintosh, I would prefer not to restore the system and reinstall osx... But, if anyone knows how I could fix this, or at least get some documents off of my mac, that would be cool =D EDIT: I started up the OSX disk, and did the verify disk permissions and repair disk permissions, and that did NOT work.
  4. Can't mount my iPod Touch

    I am having the same problem: no charging, no nothing. I used Kalyway 10.5.2 and upgraded straight to 10.5.5 and didn't try my iPod with USB on the hackintosh. I have an MPC 3ghz xeon intel processor (i think it may possibly be quad core...maybe dual core i dont remember >.>) with SleepKernel When installing Kalyway, I didn't install a USB2.0Fix (i think it said only to install if i know i had troubles before). I have installed a good amount of stuff on this mac since i installed it, and although i wouldnt really mind doing a reinstall of he OS (I could make a larger partition this time =D), i would still prefer trying to fix the problem without reinstalling OSX You can basically call me a mac noob (>.<) but if you tell me anything i may need to type in terminal, i can give you the results. Please help!! =D Thanks! ---edit---- what do you mean by booting with the default kernel?
  5. i wasn't able to get my OSX Kalyway 10.5.2 DVD to load, it kept going "still waiting for root device" and before that, would say something about my Firewire port =[ Can anybody help me?

    this would be very useful, if someone could help me with this too
  7. Parallels 4.0

    oh i didnt see this thread lol... I have the same problem. My specs are: (or what i remember) 2gb RAM 3GHz Intel Xeon
  8. I just recently got Hackintosh working, my friend told me I was lucky, and I got the latest version running as well (10.5.5). I wanted to run Parallels (i dont really care much weather i make a new install, or use my existing partition that im dual booting OSX with). Whenever I try and run it, I get this message: Unable to start the virtual machine "Windows XP". I am not really sure what to do. I don't plan on calling Parallels support team btw, lol.
  9. well im pretty sure 9gb is deffinently not enough space to install OSx..so make the parition way bigger (id suggest like 30gb at LEAST)
  10. IBM Thinkpad T30 10.4.8 Full guide

    omg last time i tried doing this to my T30, i had to reinstall XP, because I messed up my partition. What version of the DVD of OSX did you use?, and is it specifically the linksys WPC54G that will work, or with that ktext, most linksys wireless cards should work?
  11. hey, i had that exact same problem. Be sure that you unplug your slave harddrive, all cd/dvd drive, and oyur floppy drive. From there, open up the case for your computer, and take the slave harddrive cables and attatch them to one cd/dvd drive. This worked for me, I hope it works for you. I am only having troubles with the internet.
  12. hey i am getting the same problem. My sound does not work, and my internet card is a linksys NC100
  13. Hey, did u chose to customize your install? For example if you are using an AMD chip, you need to install the AMD patch, or any.
  14. omg this worked great. I have a problem with the ethernet but im working on how to fix that. I fixed my problem by plugging in a USB mouse and keyboard. Mac OSX 10.4.6 JaS iso AMD Athlon 64 chip E-machine T2596 (was originally a Celeron chip, but the mobo died so i replaced it with a AMD mobo) Everything except the internet works I have tried using the built in Ethernet, but that failed, and now I found an old ethernet device so i am trying that now. It is a NC100 Linksys. I found the tulip driver on Wikipedia (horray wiki!!) and now i am attempting to learn how to use this tulip driver.
