kenportree
Hi dilnalomo< I am pleased to report another successful installation, following your guide. I think this guide is a real godsend for the not-so Mac aware amongst us and I found its step by step approach extremely easy to follow. My only comment is a very minor one and concerns the process of converting the partition within disk utility. After selecting "erase", I sat there like a lemon waiting for the process to move on to disk selection, although it eventually dawned on me that I had to close disk utility myself (doh!). For the more literally inclined among us, it might help to indicate in your guide, that it doesn't happen automatically. For the records I used the Jas 10.4.7 listed last and installed on a PC running an AMD Athlon 64 4000+ 1GB DDR PC3200 memory and Winfast C51MCP51 motherboard with onboard video, audio and LAN. At present I am still working on trying to get LAN functioning. Thanks very much for all the work you and others have put in to this project Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/11339-howto-xp-osx-1044-1048-native-dual-boot/page/54/#findComment-229856 Share on other sites

zsero
I've just followed that guide ( http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=11339 ), but the disk utility actually screwed up my one and only HDD's partition table, so I am not happy at all. I am trying to recovert it from nothing, but I don't know if I can find any working app/solution that can do it for me. The error message was something like "can't read partition table" then I tried the partition disk tool (following an advice from the irc channel!) and locked those small locks at the bottom left corner, and after that the partition tool quit with "invalid arguments". At that time, all my partition table was lost! Do you know any possible solution to recover my partition table, and IF I can do it, what do you suggest me next time I try to install OSX, what tool/swithces shell I use? bearyche
Need some help here. I have successfully installed Jas 10.4.7 in a partition copied chain0 to c: and modified boot.ini but I don't have dual boot! Only Mac os boots. The problem is that I can't modify boot.ini from mac os environment. Is there something that I can do without having to reinstall mac? ACC0RD22
Boot using Darwin, instead of Acronis * Use Darwin bootloader with OSX as default booting OS: 1. Run Acronis OS Selector in windows, Go to Tools-> Deactivate OS Selector, then follow the instructions to apply the settings. 2. Use Director Suite to make your OSX parition active. Right-click on it -> Advanced -> Set Active, then apply the changes. 3. Reboot. Now you should have Darwin boot loader running instead of OS Selector. In Darwin the default booting OS is OSX, and far as I know, there's no way to make Windows the default OS in Darwin. * Use Windows boot loader with Windows as the default booting OS: Use the Chain0 method. See Q & A below. Taken from the first post in the thread. dilnalomo
in vista you have to disable UAC in order to install acronis. you can disable UAC in control panel-> users accounts. sean.benham
Hey Guys, I successfully installed MacOSX using Jas ISO. I installed it on two of my machines.... I liked it the first time so much i put it on two different machines. Here are my specs: PC1: Intel Celeron 1.7GHz 256MB DDR Ram 20GB HDD On Board GFX PC2: AMD Sempron 2600+ 1.6GHz 640MB DDR Ram 200GB HDD 20GB HDD (Installed MacOSX on) Radeon 9250 - 128MB It took 29min to install on the Intel but it took 50Min to install on the AMD. But if you have a soundmax chipset in your m/b expect to have poor sound. THo04
After installing Vista RC2 successfully following the steps here: http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?sho...=28506&st=0 I followed this gude to install the second OS, OSX! I am using the AMD 10.4.8 OSX version. However, after I installed OSX, the Acronis OS Selector did not startup as it should have (Step 6 in the second guide). Instead, the Darwin boot loader loads up with two options: Windows and Mac OSX. The OSX option boots up fine. However, when I select the Windows option, I get the error "Vista cannot boot because \Windows\System32\winload.exe is either missing or corrupt. I ran a cmd line through Vista repair, and it shows that winload.exe is there... What happened?!?!?
