Hi dilnalomo< I am pleased to report another successful installation, following your guide. I think this guide is a real godsend for the not-so Mac aware amongst us and I found its step by step approach extremely easy to follow. My only comment is a very minor one and concerns the process of converting the partition within disk utility. After selecting "erase", I sat there like a lemon waiting for the process to move on to disk selection, although it eventually dawned on me that I had to close disk utility myself (doh!). For the more literally inclined among us, it might help to indicate in your guide, that it doesn't happen automatically. :)

For the records I used the Jas 10.4.7 listed last and installed on a PC running an AMD Athlon 64 4000+ 1GB DDR PC3200 memory and Winfast C51MCP51 motherboard with onboard video, audio and LAN. At present I am still working on trying to get LAN functioning.

Thanks very much for all the work you and others have put in to this project :sorcerer:

success!

I used the jaS 10.4.6 dvd from tpb

I have a Dimension e510/5150 with a P4 630 Prescott (displayed as 4ghz in sys info)

Sigmatel 9220 working through front headphone jack :)

Intel PRO/100 VE working perfectly

Connect3D X800gto working at full resolution with callisto, but no qe/cl (yet)

Thanks dilnalomo!

What packages did you choose in the Customize screen?

i choosen 10.4.8 patches in 10.4.8 iso

and i was choosen intel 10.4.7 combo update

intel.SSE3, Soundblaster USB Audio Support thats it when the installation finish when the os goes it juz like go back to the first boot screen i mean have the grey apple logo and behind the white screen then my screen turn off and thats it...

I've just followed that guide ( http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=11339 ), but the disk utility actually screwed up my one and only HDD's partition table, so I am not happy at all. I am trying to recovert it from nothing, but I don't know if I can find any working app/solution that can do it for me.

The error message was something like "can't read partition table" then I tried the partition disk tool (following an advice from the irc channel!) and locked those small locks at the bottom left corner, and after that the partition tool quit with "invalid arguments".

At that time, all my partition table was lost!

Do you know any possible solution to recover my partition table, and IF I can do it, what do you suggest me next time I try to install OSX, what tool/swithces shell I use?

Need some help here. I have successfully installed Jas 10.4.7 in a partition copied chain0 to c: and modified boot.ini but I don't have dual boot! Only Mac os boots. The problem is that I can't modify boot.ini from mac os environment. Is there something that I can do without having to reinstall mac?

Hey guys,

I got an Asus p5ld2-vm DH - after installing using the jas 10.4.8 DVD - I got no mouse or keyboard.

I have a normal usb mouse that needs no drivers and an apple usb keyboard.

This motherboard is equivalent to the asus p5ld2-vm.... only it got core2duo support - its ich7 I believe.

Got any ideas?

hey, I have been very interested in doing this so i got down to it

I have a TOshiba Satellite R25-S3503 with a Centrino Duo (1.6 Ghz), 1 GB Ram, 100 GB HDD:

Partition 1 - 25 GB - WIndows XP Pro

Partition 2 - 15 GB - Mac OSX (Primary)

SO i downloaded the Goatsecx DVD iso and burnt it to a DVDRW

I set up acronis just as said above.. that worked perfect

and i restarted the comp and OS Selector was installed great!

Then i restarted and started up the DVD...

here lies the problem, it hangs at the apple logo screen.. the little progress circle keeps on moving at the bottom, but the screen just stays there for upto 30 mins..

what should i do? i started to dload the JAS ISO to see if that might help.. ive done everything as per the HowTo.. thanks for all the help.. im really anxious to get this working

thanks

JJ

Just wanted to post another SUCCESS!

Here are my specs:

I do NOT use Acronis OS Selector - I use Darwin for now, switching to GRUB with Linux

Mac OS X Image: MacOSX_10.4.6DVDPATCHED_Myz

OS1: Windows XP Pro SP2

OS2: Apple OS X 10.4.6

CPU: AMD Athlon 64 3200+ (2ghz)

Motherboard: MSI K8T Neo-FIS2R (MS-6702)

Chipset: VIA VT8383 Apollo K8T800, AMD Hammer

Memory: 1024MB PC3200 (1gig)

Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce 6800 XT

Hard drive 1: 320GB SATA (143gig XP, 75 gig OS X)

Hard drive 2: 35GB SATA (10,000 RPM) (Storage)

Ethenet: Onboard LAN - DSL (working)

Everything works great:

"About this mac"

Internet

Sound

Restarting (No "still waiting for root device")

Installer

Problems/Unchecked:

USB Keyboard&Mouse - unchecked

USB Printer - not recognized

Video resolution is stuck at one setting (1024x768) - Going to try MacVidia patch

Kubuntu - unchecked, Going to try TRIPLE BOOT

I've also tried these images:

Mac-OS-X-10.4.7-AMD.Intel-(JaS)-ISO-Repack - Repeated failures (Recieved still waiting for root device error on second boot)

Mac.OS.X.Tiger.10.4.6.X86-HOTiSO - Didn't recognize my SATA hard drive

Plese help me!

I have installed Mac OS X at one Hard Disk with XP together (on the diferent partitions)

I use Acronis OS Selector, and i have converted the Mac OS X partition from Logical to Primary.

My problem is, when i boot and the OS Selector comes up and it shows me XP and Mac OS, and when i press XP or Mac it will only boot in XP!?

What should i do?

Boot using Darwin, instead of Acronis

* Use Darwin bootloader with OSX as default booting OS:

1. Run Acronis OS Selector in windows, Go to Tools-> Deactivate OS Selector, then follow the instructions to apply the settings.

2. Use Director Suite to make your OSX parition active. Right-click on it -> Advanced -> Set Active, then apply the changes.

3. Reboot. Now you should have Darwin boot loader running instead of OS Selector. In Darwin the default booting OS is OSX, and far as I know, there's no way to make Windows the default OS in Darwin.

* Use Windows boot loader with Windows as the default booting OS: Use the Chain0 method. See Q & A below.

Taken from the first post in the thread.

Installed nicely using JaS 10.4.8 DVD but couldn't get absolutely anyting to work...

Ethernet doesn't work (Broadcom Gigabit NetXtreme 57xx) (ven:14E4 dev:1677), happens with others i guess

Sound doesn't work (Sound Blaster Live! 24bit) (ven: 1102 dev:0007), also happens with others

and SoundMax Integrated Digital Audio

when i played a quicktime video the video wouldn't show up (just white was shown in quicktime) and you could still scroll through the time (worked before on 10.4.6) (ATI RADEON X300/X550) (ven: 1002 dev:5B60), also in itunes when i play a video it shows the video but no sound (i use my tascam US-122 audio interface for sound, by installing the driver and hooking it up to my stereo on aux)

USB doesn't work (Intel® 8280 1FB/FBM USB Universal Host Controller - 2658) (ven:8086 dev:2658),

PCI cards dont work(Intel® 82801 PCI Bridge 244E) (ven: 8086 dev:244E),

CD and DVD drives dont work

DVD (ven: 8601 dev:KD10),

help would be much appreciated biggrin.gif , or guidance to a thread.

THANKS FOR ALL YOUR WORK IN MAKING THIS TUT

This is the best guide. It worked for me. I used the chain0 method. Acronis is real pain and got the deadlock problem.

PC Specs:

- Jas 10.4.6 Iso

- CPU : Intel P4 520 SSE3

- Mobo: ECS 915 M5-GL

- Onboard Sound : Realtek ALC880 (output working with 2 ch and no input)

- Onboard Ethernet: Realtek 8139 (working out of the box)

- Graphics: GMA 900 worked with Jas patch included in the dvd

BFG Geforce 6600 GT 128MB working with Titan.kext (QE/CI working)

- I/O: Microsoft USB Keyboard and Microsoft USB Optical Mouse

Thanks very much !

Hey Guys,

I successfully installed MacOSX using Jas ISO.

I installed it on two of my machines.... I liked it the first time so much i put it on two different machines.

Here are my specs:

PC1:

Intel Celeron 1.7GHz

256MB DDR Ram

20GB HDD

On Board GFX

PC2:

AMD Sempron 2600+ 1.6GHz

640MB DDR Ram

200GB HDD

20GB HDD (Installed MacOSX on)

Radeon 9250 - 128MB

It took 29min to install on the Intel but it took 50Min to install on the AMD.

But if you have a soundmax chipset in your m/b expect to have poor sound.

ISO : Mac OS X 10.4.6 x86 Install DVD (JaS)

Hardware : Asus A6Q00VA Notebook

  • Intel Pentium M 750 1.86 Ghz works (SSE2)
  • 1024 MB DDR2 667Mhz works
  • Fujitsu 100GB works
  • HD Audio (ALC880) works
  • TSSTCorp CD/DVDW TS-L532A works after Patchburn Driver Installation
  • ATI x700 Mobility (128 MB) works
  • Marvell Yukon Gigabit Ethernet 10/100/1000Base-T Adapter works after Driver Installation
  • Intel® PRO/Wireless 2200BG not working
  • Toshiba Bluetooth Stack works

After installing Vista RC2 successfully following the steps here:

http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?sho...=28506&st=0

I followed this gude to install the second OS, OSX!

I am using the AMD 10.4.8 OSX version.

However, after I installed OSX, the Acronis OS Selector did not startup as it should have (Step 6 in the second guide). Instead, the Darwin boot loader loads up with two options: Windows and Mac OSX. The OSX option boots up fine. However, when I select the Windows option, I get the error "Vista cannot boot because \Windows\System32\winload.exe is either missing or corrupt.

I ran a cmd line through Vista repair, and it shows that winload.exe is there... What happened?!?!?
