hi all,

The step by step approach to get mac installed on a PC is real good. I got a problem when i tried to install "MacOSX_10.4.6DVDPATCHED_Myz " on to my laptop " Dell Inspiron 2200" .

- First i formatted my harddrive , made 3 partitions ( C:- windows, D:- Mac, E: - gackup) and installed win XP Pro.

- Then i tried to boot with the DVD which is having "MacOSX_10.4.6DVDPATCHED_Myz" on it. ( I am pretty sure that my laptop config of compatible for that)

- I tried many a times but it stopped at a blue screen and then my cpu stop forever.

- After trying for aroung 6 to 7 times luckly it BOOTED. and then I installed all the required files. After that I rebooted and did the setup and enjoyed Mac for some time and decided to restart .

- After restarting , I again stoped at the blue screen after popping up some messages.

- I even tried to login in safe mode using " -x" but it didnt boot.

- It said some VID match failed. I dont know if this is the reason it failed. My cpu is SSE2 comp and "MacOSX_10.4.6DVDPATCHED_Myz" doesnt have a patch for it but had for SSE3.

- Then after several failed trails to boot OSX directly , i started from sratch .

- I formatted the drive for Mac and tried to boot from the DVD and it took 5 to 6 attempts to boot .

- then i finally installed all the files and rebooted in safe mode and did the setup and OSx worked fine .

- Luckly my sound , inter net and everything worked but my airport.

- Praying to God ( to help me boot staright againg in to OSX) I restarted my Laptop.

- It again atopped at he blue screen.

- I DONT KNOW Y THE HELL IS IT GOING LIKE THIS. WHY DONT IT BOOT THE SECOND TIME AFTER I INSTALLED IT AND WORKED FOR SOME TIME.

_ Any help in this regard is really apreciated .

Thank you

Cooldude

This will help comfirm that it might work for other hardware setups.

ANOTHER HAPPY MAC USER :)

Amazing guide! I followed every step (just in case) and it worked perfectly!

The ISO I used was MacOSX_10.4.4DVDPATCHED_Myz.iso. Also I tried "osx86_10.4.5_amd-intel_sse2-3.iso" but when I checked the image for errors it said something about a cycle and shows an error... But the first one worked for me.

Nevertheless, I have some errors:

- My USB keyboard does not work... only a PS2 is working

- My Ethernet card is not working

- I only get sound in my left speaker, not in both...

- I cannot change the resolution. The only available is 1024x768

However is working smoothly and fine :)

My computer:

- AMD Athlon 64 3000+

- 512 Mb DDR

- MSI K8t Neo2 Motherboard

- NVidia G4Ti 4200 128 Mb

- Maxtor 80Gb

@ cbmkgd

I dont think accord had the same problem as i do . He wiped out other partion of his harddrive for MAC .

And wat is that HFS+ thing, do u have any idea.

and also pls be specific where is that paper clip method

thank you

hey i looked up my computer in the wiki and it says this

Toshiba Satellite M30 PSM30C

Method: ISO images with ./ditto, Native, only OS X

Hardware:

CPU - Pentium M 1.5Ghz (SSE2 only. Everything working after apply patches)

RAM - 512MB PC2700 Hynix (problem with Linksys WPC54GS)

HD - Toshiba IDE 80G + Maxtor Firewire 160G (all working well)

Video - 15.4 inch with nVidia GeForceFX Go 5200 (only work 1024x768x32 and doesn't load nVidia driver)

Audio - AC97 (Work very well, mic works as well!)

Network - Intel MiniPCI WiFi (Not working) and Intel wired LAN (Work well)

Others - PCMICA (work), SD Card reader (not working), Firewire (work), USB (work), VGA-Out (not working), TV Out (not working)

I have been trying to install OSX but it hasnt been working

what is that method

Method: ISO images with ./ditto, Native, only OS X

help is appreciated

I did everything acording to the manual. But in the Disk Utility I don't see my hard drive. There's only my DVD drive.

Any ideas on how to fix this?

Thank you so much for providing us with any information about your system, particularly the hard drives with which you are having problems. You know, like are they PATA or SATA and what kind of motherboard and what controller chips might be driving those drives, etc. You know, useful stuff.

And, thank you so much for taking your valuable time to read through this thread and find out how the many other people with the same problem might have solved it. Like if you might have a SATA drive for which OSX has no driver so you need to install a PATA drive. Or you have a PATA drive, and since the DVD drive can be seen, it might be a good idea to ensure the PATA drive is on the same chain as that DVD drive and set as primary while the DVD is set as slave - using jumpers, not cable select.

Thank you so much for providing us with any information about your system

Sorry man, you're right

CPU: AMD Athlon 64 3200+

MB: ASUS M2N-MX Nvidia GeForce 6100/nForce 430

HDD: SATA WesternDigital 300 Gb

DVD drive: IDE NEC

HDD is set to 1 SATA.

DVD - primary IDE.

I looked though this thread and didn't find any solution. The author of this thread said that SATA drive worked for him. So I thought maybe it's some settings that I'm missing.

hello I am having a problem

The thread is way to long to find an answer. but I got the MacOSX_10.4.4DVDPATCHED_Myz.iso and I pop in the disk I did everything else already but when I go to disc Utility it does not see my Hard drive... Why it dont see my hd Idk It would be nice if you could tell me how to fix this thanks

I got

x2 4200

MSI K8n Neo4/sli

2gb ram

6800gt

My dvd drive is in slave mode

A WD hd 120GIG SATA (under 4th master)

As I see it is only detecting IDE drives not SATA

If you ran verbose mode (-v) you would find that it is reporting the error: "waiting for root device".

You need to make sure your optical drive is on the same ATA chain as your hard drive. Make the hard drive master and the optical drive slave using jumpers, not cable select.

If you are on a laptop and cannot change the ATA chain, then you will need to install using VMWare: http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=11314

so I am running a laptop but my laptop does not support PAE so I cannot install osx through VMWare.... help!

1. Name of ISO used: JaS ISO Re-pack OS X 10.4.7

2. Computer specs: AMD Sempron 3300+, Foxconn WinFast 760GXK8MC-RS, ATI Radeon 9550

3. Things that don't work: Sound, cannot change video resolution (tried Callisto etc), will not shut down or restart properly (doesn't matter, just press reset button), SATA doesn't work (installed via IDE 4GB hard drive which works okay)

4. Multi boot with Windows XP, Vista RC1 and OS X 10.4.7 using Acronic OS Selector.

:)

I used the chain0 method, but only 10.4.1 booted, all the other versions wouldn't boot, so i installed os selector, and it deleted my windows files, so my system was f***ed up and when i booted os x, it hanged at the boot window saying booting os x or something (the firt windows you see with the bleu background)

so i will try with GAG (another boot loader and this one is free)
