I succesfully restored the ATIRadeon.kext using Pacifist 2.0. But which string should I change?

<key>IOPCIMatch</key>

<string>0x51441002 0x51591002 0x4C591002 0x4C5A1002 0x4$

Update: I tried to add my Device ID 0x4A491002 at the end of all the strings, but without succes (Everytime I change a .kext file I 1) open Terminator and do the 2 codes for resetting the kextcache. 2) open Disk Utility for repairing disk permissions. 3) Press "Restart...".)

Can you use this with callisto drivers taht are out or is this strictly a stand alone fix? It is not working with me at the moment on my xpress 200m id 5955, but I have the callisto driver installed and working, just no video acceleration which is what I am trying this for.

The Callisto driver is NOT a video accelerator, it's just a frame buffer. If it works you will be able to switch resolutions on your setup. You might be able to get CI/QE enabled which will give you some of the eye candy though.

i get this lines:

| | | | | "compatible" = <"pci1002,303","pci1002,5d72","pciclass,0380$

i have a sapphire x850xt pci-e card. what should i do to make my card work? how do i change my res. to 1280x1024

Hello Cyberismo, I have an X850 XT 5d52 like you. I never got mine to work. Someone tol me that it is because the card is seen as PCI-E instead of PCI. I really hope that one day someone finds a solution for the x850xt but I myself am able to boot with 1280x1024 without omni's driver, as you are booting press f8 on your keyboard and at darwin bootup write "Graphics Mode"="1280x1024x32" you need the quotes and capitol letters. If it boots, then we can make it permenent. go to /library/preferences/system configuration/ and open com.apple.boot.plist in text edit. you should see like key kernel flags key then string string,

using the same pattern, scrol to the bottom of the document and write key(like they write it, not just key) then where they write kernel flags, you write Graphics Mode then key again. then where they have string string, you put 1280x1024x32 so it should look a bit like

Key Graphics Mode key

string 1280x1024x32 string

hope this helps!

Hi, I'm new to this forum, and I write from Italy!

I just tried to install this patch on my system: PD 2,66GHz/533/1M - Asus P5GD1-VM, X550 256MB (the one listed in the first post"), but I had no luck with both Jas' and MyZar installs.

I never tried hacking any .kext MacOS X file, but I sometimes work in linux, the commands are almost the same...

So: do I miss something? Patch works, (2 code segments changed) is there a step I miss?

I even tried to delete kextcache and rebuild a new one with kexkcache -k command.

Nothing changed, always No Kext Loaded in the profiler.

Card ID is 0x5B63.

Can anyone help me?

I've also read 32 pages of this post, so...

Where do I get wrong???

Thanks in advance from Italy!

After installing JaS 10.4.6, Kovergs's patch for CI/QE is not working any more. I did everything exactly as I did on 10.4.5 before. I even extracted the 10.4.5 drivers from the installation disc and copied them into the Extensions folder and applied the patch after that, but still no success. All I get, when I restart is a black screen and the mouse pointer.

Any ideas?

try using the older opengl frameworks from the 10.4.5 update, just extract/install them with pacifist

what is pacifist?

"Pacifist 2.0 is a shareware application that opens Mac OS X .pkg package files, .dmg disk images, and .tar, .tgz, and .tar.gz file archives and allows you to extract individual files and folders out of them. This is useful, for instance, if an application which is installed by the operating system becomes damaged and needs to be reinstalled without the hassle of reinstalling all of Mac OS X. Pacifist is also able to verify existing installations and find missing or altered files*, and Pacifist can also examine the kernel extensions installed in your system to let you see what installer installed them, and whether the installer was made by Apple or a third-party."

Guys, about the black screen problem, well, I got the same and a solution for that, that is to run on 16 bits, like: "Graphics Mode"="1600x1200x16", not ...x32". Whenever I change it to x32, I got a black screen. If I change the Info.plist file to "turn off" the driver, well, vesa works just fine with x32 again, and in my case this is a pre-req to run iPhoto, for example.

Thought you guys would like to know that, ;)

Okay - so I installed the OpenGL.framework of 10.4.5. Unfortunately without an effect.

After that I had the idea, that I should replace all the ATI .kext and .bundle files of 10.4.6 with those of 10.4.5. Then I reapplied koverg's patch and was very happy to see QE/CI enabled after the restart. :gun:

Blessed with new confidence I tried to install the .007 Version (what a cool versionnumber) of Callisto. It worked - but it stole me the QE/CI support again.:blink:

For the time being I guess GMA900 will still have a lot of work to do... :D

works on its own but not in conjunction with Callisto (008) they seem to be mutually exclusive

Ive tried installing both first (callisto first then this patch first) to no avail... I'll keep playing though

used your patch on x800xt pcie device ID 5d57 seems to be not successfully

how to check if its successfull?

go Apple --> About this Mac

then click 'more info'

if under 'Graphics/Displays' QE is supported then it works :)
