wow that's wired.

i'm gonna try on a new harddrive following the steps i indicated.

well maybe i did something while messing with nvidia kexts (i had an 6600gt before it burnt it's memory chip for the 2nd time)

What's exactly the error(s) you got ?

PS : I can only boot in verbose mode at it crashes 1/2 of the time

Ok, are we still at koverg's Patch or ist there any progress in writing a universal ati Driver?

I still have the widescreen issue (ati x300 mobility in a Dell 9300 17''). Natively it should be 1900x1200 but it ist still 1600x1200. That ist really bad. So does anybody have an idea of fixing that?

This might have been somewhere in the prior 27 pages of posts, but damn it I didn't read them.

So it appeard to work OK, sorta, not really. I got the mouse artifacts that much is true.

However, when I would scoll a windows, or move a window around the screen, it would completely go to hell. See the picture below . . .

Using an X800 GTO 256MB, PCIe obviously.

Ideas?

There's something I don't understand. All of the reasons as to why some cards are supported all have to do with either the chipset the cards use or the card ID number being above or below a certain number.

So my question is, why doesn't the x200m (ID: 5955) work? It uses the same chipset (rv370) as the x300, which many people have reportedly goten to work. Also I don't know why the x700 has a "lower" ID(5653) than the x200, which makes it work and the x200 not.

I'll try the hex editing, but also could someone post koverg's patcher? The link is down.

this is a great thread!

Has anyone been able to get a PCI express mobility laptop ATI card to work?

(X300 or X600?)

thanks!

I have a Toshiba M40x Laptop that i am trying to get this going. but one small thing.

I am a noob at this dont forget ;)

how do i put in the res in :

<key>Boot Graphics</key>

<string>Yes</string>

whats the format 1280x1024@60hz ?

BTW my Mobility X600 String is 0x3150

I got it working with the driver. cant run 1280x1024 but i dont care. 1024x768 is fine.

Hey NemesysSRT!!! You did it??? Myself and many others who have x800gto (pci-e) video cards have been unable to figure out how to get QE/CI enabled... we've tried koverg's patch among many other things. Could you please let us know how you got that working?!?!?!?!?!?!?!? It would be greatly appreciated by many. What device Id did you use??? What make of the card do you have??? Thanks for your help!!!!

Hey np_,

You're lucky you even get to that point. I can't get it past the verbose output with mouse stage. It loads loginwindow.app, but stays at the verbose output while letting me move the mouse around. I have recently flashed my X850 XT with 0x5D52to a X850 XTPE with 0x5D4D and figured that might work. I did notice that someone on here got their 5D4D to work so I figured it would for me too. At first I would get it to load, but it was all garbled, but after a couple reboots, it was back to the same output I was getting before.

One question, does the ati9700.kext treat each card that loads it differently, or does it just need one in it's info.plist to load it? I'm wondering if it sees an x700 as a different card than a 9700 Pro once it loads correctly. If so, I'm going to try to flash my bios with different device IDs and see if one that is known to work is able to load. It's not a good idea to do that in Windows though (tried it with an X800 XL ID already); as long as it was in VGA mode, it was fine, but once the ATI driver loaded, it got a little freaked. This is the reason I'm wondering if the ati driver in OS X treats each card differently or not.

Thanks for the effort with omni though.

Later.

i have use patch9700 V2.but have a wrong.

my card is X800GTO3.

i have 2 problem:

1 when "sudo ./patch9700 .sh 55 4f", show on screen"at line 11,no such files or directory"

2 i continu do my work, done and reboot.but stop at

"Apr 27 01:52:07 Localhost /system/library/CoreServices/Loginwindows:app/Contents/MacOS/Loginwindows:login window/Appl:Cation Started

sukonosx: Ethernet address 00:04:61:ac:c4:44"

when stoped my mouse can appear and turn on this white words.i wait for 10 minute, but no use, still that.
