yes vista sucks as far as performace is concerned, but my opinion the best operating system is windows server 2008. I tried the rc0 and coverted it to a workstation and let me tell you the performance is incredible, its way faster than vista and os x and it has aero and all the other features of vista. I tried leopard hack and it sux compared to windows server 2008. leopard in general sucks compared to windows server 2008. i ran zdaemon which is an online multiplayer doom thru crossover and parallels on leopard and both ran like {censored}, i was so disgusted that it could not run something as simple as doom so i left mac for windows server 2008 and will never go back again. leopard just sucks with games thats the # 1 reason why it will allways be second to vista. and now that direct x 10 is coming out windows is going to blow mac out of the water, i dont care how many stupid mac commercials come out. so if your sick of vista and os x try windows server 2008 http://www.microsoft.com/windowsserver2008/audsel.mspx

Yes a poll on a mac forum, this really isn't going to be one sided...

Anyway for the people who are crying about RAM, Vista uses most of your ram to speed up loading and performance of your system. What is the point of having half of your ram doing nothing...

Misinformed fan boys ftw?

Wow, that's quite an unbiased poll you have there. Are you guys finished with your circle jerk? Can we move on now? Let me know when you guys are finished with your repititive "LOL VIST ASUCKS" threads, maybe than a decent, objective discussion will happen without things like M$, winblowz, and so on appearing.

But hey, if you guys are content with your silly threads like this, fair enough. Each to his own, kind of like how you have that small group of people who are in to bestiality and child pornography.

No :D . Mostly everyone I have talked to both on forums and in life give me truth on the topic. Now I don't care if it is biased or not but don't the answers illustrate the reason. And I am not a mac extremist either. I have mastered almost all of the main OSs out there. Yes, windows has is strengths like linux or mac. But my point is that Vista is not the "Wow" advertised. Everyone ZOMFG Aero. Grow up people, grow up!

Vista's halfway decent when bought separately. The version of Vista that comes with pre-built machines (Vista Basic) is downright awful.

I'm sure that Vista will be running much better at Service Pack 1. Even so, Leopard will probably still beat it out, sans the gaming category.

Speaking on how "sucky" Vista is ,recently I opened the Image editor in Vista , cropped a part of the image to see how it looks and I hit the close the button to discard it .... but WTHell .. the editor saved the cropped image !! without asking me to save the file ,and I lost my image which was in my MMC ...

poor programming ... poor Vista ....

Also , comparing the games running in DX10 and 9c, UAC ... Vista is not for me or anybody else

I will NOT use any OS that is not UNIX based.

And yes, Vista Sucks.

Umm, if you use OSX it is based on BSD which is another unix based system.

Thus: OSX = Unix Based

So is Linux, IRIX, Solaris, and BSD along with most non CE portable device OS's

I forsee Vista SP1 being level with or slighly better than Leopard, and lightyears ahead of all Linux distros.

This is the usual nonsense we hear from Microsoft fanboys. How is Vista light-years ahead of all Linux distros? Only somebody who doesn't have a clue can say that. Linux is a lot more stable and secure than any Micro$oft {censored}. It is also a lot much better structured, as an OS, at least until Microsoft doesn't get rid of the registry and the DLL hell.

The only real disadvantage with Linux is software availability, but that has nothing to do with the OS, and it gets better all the time.

(...) Almost all the flaws have been fixed in SP1. A storm is coming, and I think Apple is going to be caught very badly off guard. (...)

Did you know that more OSX are sold in Japan than Windows?

Still wondering why Bill Gates escaped the back door? I've always been a Windows User since 3.1 (except some linux webservers). After XP got very old, I had to changed. Now I moved to OSX because I can do everything I want. I tried to stay with windows, but the direction the OS is taking is wrong. The efforts of learning OSX are well worth it.

I follow Bill Gates - I'm not sinking with this ship.

I have no issues with Vista. It's UAC functions like OS X and its prompting for "authorization" to do admin related tasks; for security I would actually prefer Vista 64bit over OS X at this point, but have to give a nod to Linux variants -- sudo or not -- which seem to be less user friendly than Vista/OS X but more secure in how they handle admin functions.

I don’t get what the problems with vista I fist installed it with a amd 3800 simperon and 1gb of ram in did run very poorly wile xp64 zipped along with no hiccups and more diver support until a couple of months ago the I bought a new motherboard an a 2160 and 2 gigs of ddr2 800 even though my mb max ram speed is 667. But know I love vista almost as much as I like leopard. The one thing that vista dose hove on 10.5.1 is the media center and the free shows on line along with movies you can rent some are free also. But a majority of the shows on line from HBO Or A&E are free and play crisp. This is a beta feature in vista ultimate and is worth the money. After the updates I have been able to play the games that would not work at fist know play fine. It’s just the vista dose need a big engine to run and a lotttttttt of ram. If you have these things then it purrs like a kitten don’t complain about it because u don’t have to use it. :)

honestly dunno why u ppl complain so much

im running vista on my compaq with a CELERON processor and a gig of ram FLAWLESLY. with aero, sidebar and everything running.

dream scene lags for about 3 secs but then it becomes normal. ii also get about 2-2.5 hours of battery backup with aero on. ive opened about 7-8 windows and flip 3d'd them with only a .25 sec glitch in the begining. never crashed for me in almost a year. (quite good for a damn celeron processor!)

a LOT of stuff which is said about vista is false and based on lies. (few of them maybe cuz of the mac ads. etc...)

im not dissing apple or mac or anything.... mac os is great too. call me a windows fanboy if u ever wanna, but a LOT of what is said about vista is false. it does have it flaws agreed... but every os does!

I never was a Windows users before OS X i ran strictly Linux and OS X will never be beaten by Microsoft and Def not Vista. i CAN BARELY HANDLE XP'S but Vista is beyond worthless and Way not worth a penny or my computing time. I know i love Mac alot but i would never use windows if i did not use OS X.

I love Vista, and I love Leopard. If I have to choose it would be vista, without a doubt. Leopard doesn't cut it when it come to network management (ever tried to administer active directory or NDS from within OSX, let alone mainframe or AS400 systems ?). Luckily I have them both on my computer (together with Windows2003 enterprise X64).

On another computer I have just Vista ultimate, for the thrill experience that is Media Center. Maybe Apple could have a look at that killer app, and change their frontrow, as it doesn't cut it by a long shot -_-

Well, OSX asks for installing stuffs and moving of system files. And it has the safari download or no dialogue. But Vista {censored} with allow or deny. Whenever you change a setting that little taskbar button goes mad and you want to :):P :censored2: :censored2: :censored2: it up. In that retrospect (and may others) UAC Sucks.
