Hi, is certainly a stupid question but how do I know where should I install the Kext's files?
What is the default location?

Many thanks,

Vasco

Typically you will want /system/library/extenstions for lion.

SL I would use the same, but any would work.

Installation and Maintenance can be executed for any OS X partition.

Why are my choices: Choose, Item1, Item 2

My partitions do not appear.

Great.
But does this new utility handle the rights of kext "correct" if i use kext utitlity works but next OS X Diskutility must repair all of them again.

Yes.
Maintenance: First it sets owner (root:wheel) and permissions (755) for the whole System/Library/Extensions. Some system kexts requires other permissions etc. so after that it repairs permissions on whole target disk using: "diskutil repairpermissions".

Installation: It sets owner and permissions only for newly installed kexts. Others aren't modified. After that it rebuilds cache.

So there's no need to run Disk Utility after using my application.

Don't know if this was addressed in this thread or not, as I haven't read it all. :-P
But, this is an issue I ran into awhile back and I found that the system expects 644 to be applied to the files and 755 to the folders/kext package.
So, running the following commands (or similar) fixes this minor issue:

chmod -R 755 /System/Library/Extensions
find /System/Library/Extensions -type f -execdir chmod 644 {} \;

It simply applies 755 to all the files/folders/kext packages, then finds just the files and applies 644 to them.
best regards,
MAJ

Phantastic, thanks!

Is it possible to order the loadedKext Export by columns (Path, Kext or version)?
If not, one goodie for the next release?

BTW: do you need german translation or is it already done, I don't know now here at office?

thx Mondi

The source isn't provided because It was my first application made in Obj-C for mac. Some parts of it are truly terrible.

I'm thinking about new, fully open-source version made for OS X Lion (so I could use ARC) with support for both Chameleon and Clover. But I doubt I will have enough time and motivation to write it before release of Mavericks.

The application is safe, I use it myself.

Quite frankly, I don't think anyone cares how ugly the code is.  We see lots of that...

Hello

I'm trying to use a ATI 5450 on a MacPro. It works booting with snow leopard (10.6.8) partition, none booting with a Mountain Lion partition.

I'm looking to install the ATI5000Injector.kext and AMDRadeonAccelerator.kext files but there are not the Extra folder on my drive.

What can I do?

Yep, it works - but NOT using it direkt after i updated / installed the dp.

With ML same procedure is no problem - start kext wizard,  install update, reinstall patched kext (like AppleHDA) with kext wizard   before the restart.

With DP/GM kext wizard stalls after install kext.

Not having any of that.

What I do notice on Mavericks however is the version of the installed chameleon on the bottom of the window.

Like Darwin/x86 boot blablabla r2258.... that's unavailable for me on mavericks.

Else everything works like a charm just like it always did.

Do you have the ShowInfo=YES entry in your org.chameleon.Boot.plist?

Nope, till today I never even heard of that flag.

But even after adding it plus rebuilding caches I still don't see a difference.

It's not that important as I know exactly what version I installed, but still....

Not sure if more people experience this on Mavericks?

I had this too. After I installed Command Line Tools from Apple, the installed build shows again.

One thing that Kext Wizard really needs at the moment, with the release of Mavericks, is the ability to interact with AppleKextExcludeList.kext and patch it when necessary.
