Think Secret has recently posted screenshots of the new Leopard build, with in-depth menus and dialog boxes. You can check out the entire gallery here:

http://www.thinksecret.com/archives/leopard9a527/

Notice how some of the icons have insane detail to them. For example, take a look closely at the "address book" icon, and you'll see the leather texture, as well as the texture of the side page flap perfectly detailed. It is clear that these icons were designed to be viewed in 512pix glory.

Let's have a discussion. Visually, what do you readers think? Has Leopard shown clear signs of maturity over it's introduction build, as well as previous builds? What do you like about the UI, and what do you dislike?

All this is definitely cool!

I really like the new Network Control Panel. It look a little more usable than Tiger's, although it was yet far better than any other OS's network properties...

The icons are simply amazing.

I'm a bit worried about the menubar corners, which are not rounded anymore, that sort of removes a part of Mac OS identity...

The transparency on the menubar. As others said, there should be at least a control panel to choose its opacity. I liked Tiger's menubar more.

The icons have such cool details at 512x512! Check out the icon for Textedit. It's the "misfits" poem that was included in the about this mac in 10.0.

Fantastic! The icons look so sexy... Even the menus are far more refined. I love the signal buttons (close, maximize, minimize).

From Wikipedia:

Johnny Appleseed, born John Chapman (September 26, 1774–March 18, 1845), was an American pioneer nurseryman who introduced the apple to large parts of Ohio, Indiana, and Illinois. He became an American legend while still alive, largely because of his kind and generous ways, his leadership in conservation, and also because of the symbolic importance of apples.

I don't know more about him.

Anyway, build 9A527 looks just AMAZING to me. I can't wait for RTM!

the only thing they have to fix is time machine causing finder instability and ppc macs with more than 1gb ram may have airport cause crashes. on my imac, no crashes, its all kewl. but on my powerbook, zomg, crashes every 5-10 mins! crazy.

It looks so {censored} awesome, but not being able to control the transparency of the menu bar is annoying, Time Machine seems like a great feature, and the 512x512 icons are amazinggggg.

PS: Are you guys getting 527 from OiNK? I tried all the public torrent sites and Demonoid and it wasnt on, im sick of not having an OiNK account :gathering:

The new dock is ugly. Reflections, and ultra fake 3dness on a GUI... bleh..

Think Different advertisement? Eh? :)

The text that is shown on the Text Edit icon is what the voiceover said in the ads a few years back (the ones with Albert Einstein and other historical figures). Those were known as the Think Different ads. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Think_different

Awesome. They kept the interface of the Apple Mail. I'd wish to add the Mail style buttons in Finder and others.... Obviously I regret the lack of the rounded upper corners in Apple menubar.

I've gotta say, the appearance is Leopard is really solid. Let's just hope that it'll run everything OSX and beat Vista in compatibility.

Which won't be hard.
